Flameheart possible fix.

  • This JUST was added and twice now flameheart's armada has spawned ON THE ISLAND WE ARE ON. the first time we are on Crook's hollow doing the shroudbreaker quest and the second time we were on Shipwreck Bay doing a Gold Hoarder voyage. Both times we book it back to the ship and it is sunk before we can even get on it. please do at least 2 of these next 4 things.

    1. do not allow spawns on islands currently in use of Tall Tales.
    2. Spawn away from where all players currently are. (there's only 6 ships per server, can't be that hard.
    3. Nerf the number or power of the spawned ships. this new event spawns those ghost ships by the tens and a single sloop or brigantine is not enough to take them on, especially if caught by surprise.
    4. Make the ghost ships smaller. let them be brigantines or sloops instead of Galleons.
Currently, this event blows hard chunks and is not the fun ghost ship smash fest i was hoping for.

Looks like you got unlucky. The fleets are well balanced.

    1. No
    2. Majority of the time the fleets spawn on islands that don't have players
    3. No. Easy to destroy, en masse hard hitters
    4. Nope. Galleons are good enough. Are the sloops gonna be one shot?
  • @supersnipper60 said in Flameheart OP!:

    @striderwinters
Looks like you got unlucky. The fleets are well balanced.

no derp i got unlucky, i am asking for a way to prevent this unlucky state from happening in the first place.
no, the fleets are not well balanced. being able to sink my ship in less than 30 seconds should not be possible, as that is faster than i could even get back to the ship, let alone bail and repair.
and i don't mean for a smaller ship to be easier to destroy, i mean for them to be unable to fire 4 shots at once at me. which when it's just the 2 people on a sloop, means death pretty quickly.

  • and why not let it spawn elsewhere? volcanoes are already prevented from erupting while tall tales are in motion.

  • @striderwinters mate, I handled the whole fleet solo on sloop lol. All it takes is some strategy. The fleet with pirate ships is more dangerous I guess.
But you are 100 per cent right about spawning on island if you are there
As for galies, its better then smaller ones as you have better chance to hit them

  • @sheetsack Good on ya, but i am nowhere near that good yet.
    and thank you

  • @striderwinters best of luck to you on seas mate. I guess it was lack of luck that time for you, I have it when game spawns Kraken, pirate galeon and megalodon at the same time. So you are not alone I guess

  • I have yet to tackle the ghost ships, but the first point (or two) that @StriderWinters makes seems reasonable. Currently new ships will not (usually) spawn at an outpost where there is already a ship, a sunken ship will not re-spawn at an occupied island (at least I have never known it to happen), and the volcanoes seem to be disabled at the end of the Seabound Soul and Heart of Fire Tall tales.

It does seem reasonable that Flameheart Snr, and his ghostly flotilla, should not suddenly appear at an island where a ship is parked.

As for points 3 and 4: No. Let's not nerf a brand new feature because it took you by surprise. Eliminate the surprise: sure. But don't make the encounter easier for people who are properly prepared for it, and who seek it out.

  • @striderwinters Do you understand that some players want difficulty, and can deal with bad luck? Do you realise you are hurting those players by asking for less difficulty?

  • @surveyorpete
okay, i am gonna go back on my own statements. as i originally wrote this in anger as the story had already happened twice in the span of 4 hours.
my 3rd and 4th points are dumb and i am sorry.

    @KlutchxKing518
do you understand that the ship type is pretty much a difficulty selector? as the events like kraken, meg, and skele ship all scale to what ship you have. Forts don't because why would they? no one goes to them except to raid and raiding barely requires the ship at all.

  • New Event, a Hard/difficult challenege.

    Us..Vets...NEED THIS!
besides...Sloop is where its at, you hardly get hit.

  • @StriderWinters I want to solo it. And get curb stomped. I play games for a challenge. Challenge = rewarding.

    Which sounds better:

    Do mission, get loot.

Do mission at blockaded island, terrorised by the undead, get loot.

One is harder, and makes you feel better when you succeed.

  • @klutchxking518
exactly, i want to select to do this hard mission. not have it spawn on top of me and curb stomp all my hard work faster than a kraken can spawn.

  • I wonder why this flotilla will spawn right on top of an island which has an unsuspecting ship (or ships) parked nearby.

I know you buy these quests from Duke or the OOS mystic. The question, I suppose, is of two parts:

    • When is the haunted island selected? Is it when the map is purchased, or is it when the crew activates the quest, by voting for it on the Captain's table?
    • When does Flameheart and his fleet appear? Is it when the crew activates the quest? Or is it when the ship sails into the vicinity of the island?

For @StriderWinters to have his wish of "no surprise" spawns, both things would have to happen when the crew activates the quest (by voting for it): the game would need to choose a presently-unoccupied island AND immediately spawn Flameheart and his ships.

EDIT: Having now tackled the Ghost Ships, I know understand there are two ghost ship events. One is the WORLD event under the red skull of Flameheart; which consists of four waves, the last of which includes Flameheart's Burning Blade ship. The other is the crew-initiated quest, purchasable from Duke or OOS, which has just two waves, but no sign of Flameheart himself. My comments here are applicable to this latter type. I would agree with the OP that the WORLD event should not suddenly happen at an island at which is an unsuspecting ship is parked. The game should pick a different island.

  • @surveyorpete
i do not know about the ones you buy from oos or br, but i do know the flameheart event is just a spawn, like a fleet or fort raid.

  • @striderwinters Dude .... This event is money, just practice. It is so easy, and the ships drop cannonballs and wood. Watch some tutorials for them if you need help. Its a part of the game, those who dont adapt will get sunk. Good luck man

  • Uhh.. - I think that most these "nerfs" are absolutely stupid. For one: If flameheart spawns on top of you, it is basically the same as having the kraken spawn on you. Just bad luck. Besides, Flameheart is really easy to defeat if you know what you‘re doing (80 cannonballs should be enough). Making the ghost ships smaller would also make them harder to hit, which would make Flameheart more difficult overall. (Which I‘d like) But seeing as the hitbox for those Galleons are gigantic, it is no problem for a Sloop to easily defeat Flameheart even if taken by surprise. (I‘ve done so myself multiple times while solo slooping).

The main thing that should be nerfed is the amount and value of the loot that is dropped as you can the moment easily get around 300k Gold by doing Flameheart, taking you maybe 30-45 min to complete if you‘re good. So a total of about 300k in 45 min plus selling.

This definitely needs to be nerfed as it renders all other Events basically useless as you spend more time and gain less money/reputation from them.

  • @julexar

U need a start ship to complete a whole FH thats about 30 CB. But besides that u said FH is 300K loot?

If i collect all it will be around 60k. Now add the emissary (which does not grade 5 instant with 1 FH, but for the fun of it lets say it does. And it be reaper so all loot is worht more)

    60k + 150% = 60K + 90k = 150k.
