The top reapers bones emissaries are alliance players...

  • The title says it all. Please reconsider this. I don’t want to have to play on an alliance server to level up my pvp faction... but it’s extremely frustrating; as a PvP seeking player, to see that there is no hope for any of us to contend for the top emissary spots without cheesing it through alliance servers.

Alliance servers have always been an overpowered play style with endless amounts of gold generated in little to no time.... I just hope this mechanic gets reworked slightly in order to give people a fair chance to compete.

I started out my reapers grind yesterday almost the moment the servers went live, collecting something around 250k for the faction, I then proceeded to look at the emissary rank to see that someone had farmed out 7.5 million gold... The only way that is possible is through utilizing alliances...

If you guys are down with alliance servers existing, I won’t hold it against you. But atleast give us players who do not wish to rely on these cheap methods and want to experience the new faction for the PvP faction it is, to not be instantly outdone by alliance servers.

If I spend a couple of weeks grinding out a title and see that people were able to get it within a day by utilizing a simply broken mechanic... I lose motivation to try for more. Non of the commendations are actual worthwhile achievements if people are able to get them without effort and in little to no time since no one can tell the difference between the pve players and those people that worked hard for them.

    Please consider this. thnx

  • It's pretty frustrating, my crew has been grinding athenas emmissary and we have been no lifeing it, and there are players with 10x more points than us. They have to be cheesing. There's no other way.

  • ....just don’t focus on it so hard. Just because your not the top now, doesn’t mean later.

People take things way to seriously

  • People grinding away at it are probably the only ones that are going to notice the names. shrug

It's not a big deal, in my opinion. If someone is really worried about that, they could always fleet up and play.

  • Can we all stop blubbering about alliances now..
Your becomming the new PVE requesters! How many more threads on this?

Welcome to our world. Being loud and persistent seems the way to get results around here. We learned it from you guys.

  • Sry but that’s not true with your Alliance Complaint! On top of reapers bones is an Streamer his name“Knurrr“ he’s worldwide first Lvl 75 in Reapers Bones! And I doubt he played with alliances ;)

  • @nabberwar

We didn't get results, we ended up with some lame half attempt at doing the right thing.

    Hope you achieve more.

  • @king-deka

Exactly. Id imagine that he had luck on a server and nobody wanted to PvP him. So, he took advantage of that. It happens.

Its not always linked to 'alliance server'. The guy farmed FotD.

I played a game last night with a Reapers 5 ship just doing PvE. They didn't even attack anyone. Now why on earth would someone do that? Maybe cause PvE gets more draw than the PvP crowd.

  • I'd just like to point out that is not the only way to get masses of Reapers Bones Reputation and Leader Board Points.

You can sail as you used to before with no emissary flag up, collect all the loot you can, enjoy all the pvp an collect all the flags from others you want, then sail to the Reapers Hideout, Raise the Emissary Flag, then sell all your loot.

Granted this does not give you the Bonus coin/rep/points from sailing with the emissary flag but you can make decent headway within the 40 day period like this and still earn those Grade 5 rewards.

I did this yesterday for an hour solo on a sloop after my crew mate left me for the evening my total was
21 Reapers bones faction levels with Grade 5 emissary rewards unlocked.

  • It seems to me the new system heavily encourages alliance servers. I'm a little miffed that level 5 reapers can automatically find me on the map now... if indeed I read this right. Seems to do away with the stealthy pirate option. Haven't experienced yet however, so maybe I have this wrong?

How does it encourage alliance servers? IT DOESN'T. Alliances get no bonussen for the ledger besides not getting attacked. If the alliance system didn't exists those same people still would take over servers and agree on not attacking each other threw discord. SoT can't do nothing about this and alliance system is not the problem.

  • It takes a lot of work, of dedication and a dozen friends you can trust to build a working alliance. Alone the pain of getting everyone on the same server...I imagine thats hard to do.

No, it really isn’t, if you’re that afraid of PvP in a PvPvE game then maybe reconsider what you play :/

  • @meemeekyu Well I'm gonna prove you wrong because my crew and I were top 10 Reaper's bones last night and currently 18th and we don't use an alliance server. We sank every ship on our server farmed the FoTD defended it from attackers and sold a lot of treasure. We're currently at 8.8 Mill. Not an alliance in sight. Also Already level 75 Reaper's Bones. Champion of the Flame! We've done I think 10 maybe 12 FoTD's and one Ashen Athena Quest. Difference is we only turn in with a grade 5 flag and we never lost our flag.

  • Dont worry i got into one with 12 players starting at same time got 6 boats.. it was a super boring grind no fun at all no excitement.

  • @lord-szarvas or perhaps that grade 5 reaper was left alone and no one tried to sink them. Problem is the fact that all the pve players don't do their part to actually hoard loot for reapers to steal so most reapers resort to pve grinding because what else are we to do when every ship we attempt to hunt is either not an emissary so not worth because no flag or they have a low grade flag and no loot plus they run forever which just gets tiresome and boring.

  • Every Reaper I've seen has been a PvE farmer.

    Every. Single. One.

The Reapers who actually PvP seem to be a minority of a minority.

It's a shame, but that's always the way in this game. Rare release something cool to encourage interactions and PvP then the [mod edit] have the boys in the lab research a way to cheese it in safety.

It'd make you wonder about the shamelessness of them though. They want to wear the outfit and titles while being afraid of what those titles and outfits are supposed to represent.

    Sea of [mod edit]

  • Funny enough alliance servers are broken and can't get anything going... When they try and load into galleons people keep getting Groombeard errors and when they try brigs and sloops once the person that started the ship leaves, no one else can join the ship.

Maybe whoever is at top has super dedicated people not leaving ships or they're just starting new servers every time they lose a ship but the majority of alliance servers aren't running atm.

  • @v@ca-hombre I don't hate the [mod edit] at all. I just like to take jabs at people to keep them on their toes.

Before the Ledger I couldn't care less about alliance servers. Now, it actually does have an impact on me if I want to try certain things. How much of an impact? I dunno.

I've never liked that stuff can be cheesed, but considering the world's first pirate legend and how he got there, even cheesing is somewhat historically appropriate in this game.

Also, I cheesed the hell out of MA back in the day, so who am I to talk. Although, to be fair that did involve a not inconsiderable amount of fighting.

  • @boxcar-squidy

Well, it IS only two days since the update, so everyone is going to be main lining the new content to a ludicrous amount.

Let it calm down a bit and I bet most of the frustrations will fix themselves. That's why I usually sit out the first day or two of an update, just to avoid all the server issues and craziness.

  • I made a post in feedback.

They need to let players earn reapers in arenas or merge reapers in with other reapers otherwise the faction is just another pve faction.

  • @boxcar-squidy Your post has been edited as it goes against the Forum Rules and Pirate Code.

Be mindful of what you’re saying and if someone asks a question, see if you can help them out as you’d appreciate being helped out yourself if the roles were reversed.

    Thank you.

  • On a separate note, as soon as there is a target/leaderboard, someone is always going to find the quickest/cheapest/easiest/most efficient way to get there first.

Much like when people were complaining that the people that won in Arena were the ones that..... 😲 did the things that gave them the most points 😲 rather than assuming/pretending that it was a PvP mode.

If you want to get to the top of the leaderboards... do things that will earn you the most gold/rep/standing.

If you want to purely roleplay or act out your envisaged Factions 'true purpose' then you are free to do so, though it might not help with leaderboards!

  • who plays sot for crackin a highscore?so long i get the cosemtics for it i dont care..even without alliance servers it woud just mean you play to much this videogame:)...

  • @triheadedmonkey lol sorry.

I'll avoid the D word in future.

    DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!

  • @needsmokes Depends...how many more times are you going to reply

  • @mentimjojo Alliance system is most definitely part of the problem, since these guys now not only gain loot from their own small crew but from the entire server. No alliance system like that would mean way less people would do it.

  • @meemeekyu
    Well stated. Agreed

"gain loot from the entire server" Only in REP and GOLD. Not in the ledger. The ledger only count points your crew sells. So besides that they will be fast higher level (Although on the first day people were 75 without any alliancing) there isn't really a ledger bonus besides not being attacked.

And even if alliances didn't exists, these guilds (or clan/discord servers) will still do the same thing, take over a server to be safe from attacking.

  • that's kinda funny...

For OP and anyone on the misinformed bandwagon agreeing with OP that alliances are the issue here... alliance hand ins don't even contribute towards ledger...

Not sure why anyone's even got a problem with this... I haven't been in a single alliance the past 2 days and I easily cleared master rank for Reapers Bones... didn't even put down a single voyage. Sink one ship and take its loot and hit grade V 10 minutes into joining the server meanwhile the only other Reaper on the map has been at crooks hollow and snake island for the last hour and have only managed to go from Rank I to II... its the players own fault, they're not losing out to alliances that don't even contribute to the ledger in the first place...

Level 50 in like 9 hours over the last day and a half just from sinking and stealing flags and loot, haven't dug a single chest, smashed a single mermaid, or done a single voyage and it's put me easily in top tier without even caring or focusing on the ledger...

This is an individual player motivation, skill and efficiency problem.. not an alliance problem..

Why are people crying about this again?

  • I could careless about leader boards, do not even bother looking at them. Usually the top score is always some stupid silly number. Have you ever seen the GTAO racing leaderboards? Some people finish a 8 mile race in like 45 seconds lol.
