re-balance pvp, remove double gun and rebuff sword to stop jump spam.

  • pvp in this game is currently broken as hell. it is casually touche don in the occasional sea of thieves update videos. but we havent been given anything concrete. i feel the devs are stuck with not liking double gun but know that a fair few influencers use it and if they remove it they risk losing their pace22, summit1g type players and influencers.

    i would argue that appeasing these types is ruining pvp and has led to this ouytcry in recent months for pve servers and private servers. becasue its just become toxic. players simply want to chase others for no purpose of loot, sitting on their boot and spawn camping them with double gun until they leave the server.

    double gun doesnt need to be removed, but the jump spam aspect of it needs to be able to be countered, the sord used to stun so you couldnt jump. simply bring this back if wishing to keep double gun. but please. do SOMETHING. its getting terrible. its a pirates game. not a bunny hop sniper game. this isnt old battlefield for gods sake...

  • I've seen enough Pace22 to know that he more often then not uses sword mostly, and Summit1g hasn't streamed Sea of Thieves for quite a long time. I'm sorry, but your argument is irrelevant with no ground to stand on.

  • Add the effect of water/fire to guns.
    Dash of water/fire and it ruins the guns. Unable to reload or shoot, so they have to go to a ammo box.

    Thus we can throw firebombs and buckets of water at them, also if they fall into the sea.
    Just my two cents.

  • Don’t let them spawn camp you then. Blunder sword is already overpowered. Have you ever tried spawn camping a galleon and have four people spamming you with a blunder cutlass? A majority of the people who use double gun aren’t good anyway. They try and use it and miss almost all of their shots, it’s pathetic. I bet if i equipped a blunder sword I could camp most of these double gunners. I think I’m gonna take the offer on my own challenge.

    It is irrelevant, because the people you used as an example don't do what you just said. Side not, not subscribed to either, but it doesn't take a fan to correct someones misjudgement over someone who probably just seen a feel highlight clips. Summit is hardly the poster child for Sea of Thieves anymore. The guy hasn't streamed Sea of Thieves for ages, so he is hardly relevant in arguments regarding this game anymore, hes move on from Sea of Thieves. Pace22 more often then not uses sword. You stated that Rare won't do anything because these guys supposedly do it. This isn't the case.

  • @nabberwar summit1g used it religiously and had a following. Others players have simply experienced how cheesy it is and copied it. Taking one sentence of an entire argument and arguing the rest is redundant based on that, is itself redundant mate. I don't get what your trying to argue. Others like hitbotc have videos telling players to use it because it's easy and beats most other players load outs. I used 2 as an example of a wider problem.

    I also said players. Not just influencers. There is a feeling among a lot of people I've met in arena and spoken to in adventure that if they removed the option they would lose players. That's definitely something to be discussed when a big change is being talked about.

    Please try to add to the conversation being had like the other commenters instead of being toxic. If you like double gun argue for it.

  • @sherpa725 I wouldn't say it's overpowered. It's the way it's meant to be. This loadout has no range ability at all and requires being on top of players. It can be annoying. But overpowered? I see double gunners eat this loadout for breakfast every day on arena.

    This issue with double gun is it's simply too easy to shoot twice to kill especially if the players guard paths and corners using this tactic.

    The other problem is if they miss they simply jump spam to reload.

    The further problem is if they are threatened they simply jump spam and eat, the sword can't lock them down since it was nerfed months ago. If someone is double gunning and isn't stupid they have distinct advantages over sword combat. I'm arguing that shouldn't be the case in a pirate game. The focus should be on using a sword. This kind of PvP is something frowned on in other games but has had a resurgence on games like fortnite where winning a game trumps enjoyable PvP.

    Dev's are sticking with double gun load outs not because of streamers but because they don't like locking things. They want players to be able to make choices. Tools not rules.

    However, Ive always believed that they should either changed the way reloading guns work completely or just make cutless mandatory.

    Revert combat to launch combat and change reloading by slowing the character down to a walk when they are in a reloading animation and where they are unable to jump.

  • "Jump spam" isn't difficult to fight against, you just need to aim the already-easy-to-use blunder when enemy players board your ship. The sword prevents jumpers from really escaping as well, as there is a slight stun after each hit.

    Or use blunderbombs. They're pretty great when up against sweaty players.

  • @Razyr-Iowa mate if youre arguing the loss of influencers is stoping rare from removing double gun you cant get mad at @Nabberwar for disputing your claim. anyway double gunning has a lot of counters for one, dont get shot maybe double gunning has a major weakness and that is running out of ammo. im positive the sword stun is still in-game and if it isnt they should totally add it back but any good double gunner will be able to kill you before you get close enough to use your sword, maybe the new throwable (blunderbomb) can be used to idk, damage enemys who are far away?

  • @razyr-iowa double gunning has taken over pvp in Arena! I come across many double gunners and it’s getting horrible. It’s at the point where I don’t want to do Arena anymore, but I have to if I want the legendary weapons. I hope they do something about it. I really love this game a lot, but the double gunning experience ruins the game for me sometimes
