Stealth Melee Attack

  • The exact mechanics of how this would work would need some thinking, but I think it would be really interesting if you could sneak up on an enemy, then your sword attack would be an instant kill.

    Perhaps you are in "stealth" if you haven't been in the enemy's field of vision for the past 60 seconds or something like that. And it would be up to other players to turn around and look at you if they hear you walking, to avoid being stealth attacked. You might need some sort of indicator to know when another player is "aware" of you.

    It would be an incentive to play a bit more sneakily, and perhaps even make tuck scenarios more interesting.

  • It would have to be very carefully implemented if it were to ever make it into the game. It couldn't be overpowered in a direct fight but it also would have to be a very very basic kill animation in order to keep the game Rated T.

    The animation would probably have to look like an altered lunge in order to keep it simple.

    In regards on how to get this interation I think it would be simple to just have Sword (or maybe a Dagger that could be added for this purpose) have an interaction. When standing directly behind a player you perform the stealth kill by holding the interaction for the same duration as picking up a chest. If they move more than 10 degrees during this time the interaction must be started over again. Theoretically this should keep it from being used in direct conflict

  • @zherron-vorse I like that idea of having to hold down a key for the same duration as picking up a chest.

    I also think that the animation itself should be pretty quick, because I don't think you should be intangible during the animation (how most single player games would handle it) but I also don't think the player should be punished for being stuck in a long kill animation.

  • @targasbr The only thing with that is that it isn't very stealthy. It's rather loud.
