So for whatever reason, my FPS gets locked at 20 whenever I unplug my laptop. At first, I thought it was VSync, so I went into my Nvidia settings and turned it to max performance. Turns out that wasn't it. I even double checked, and in every other game I can get an FPS counter from and turn on VSync, it goes up to 60 FPS (which is the refresh rate of my display). I'm not sure why Sea of Thieves is doing this.

I think it has to do with the architecture of laptops, in general. They designed battery support for limited use. The draw on the GPU for full performance from a battery will kill it fast.
Best case, plug-in. There isn't a setting that I found or know if to help you override the architecture to draw from the battery (which won't last long if you did anyways).

I would think that this is not an issue with the game, more than likely a setting on your laptop.

Most gaming laptops have an integrated GPU as well as a separate, higher powered GPU. On battery, almost all laptops switch over to the integrated graphics card to save power.
You can change this setting in the NVIDIA control panel, but your battery will prob die within 30 minutes or less.

I have already tried all of these things. Like I said, it's only Sea of Thieves that's locking the framerate at 20. None of my other games do this, even with VSync on. Minecraft, TF2, Path of Exile, Temtem, Rainbow Six. Heck, even with VSync off on Sea of Thieves, it still locks to 20 for no reason, and that's what has me suspicious about Sea of Thieves locking the framerate when a laptop is unplugged.
