So after they changed the gold hoarder curse to be the same on everybody (I know it was a looooong time ago), I was disappointed because everyone who had it would look the same. This also goes for the new ashen curse. I was thinking that there could be different variants of it that we can choose from.
There are 7 different variants of the gold curse in the game. This is because there are 7 outposts, so seven gold hoarders each with a different version of the curse. I personally really like Harry the Hoarder's on Plunder Outpost. It's over his left eye so he wears an eyepatch to cover it up. I really wish we could choose which of these seven that were on our character. The gold curse as it is now is a little too overwhelming in my opinion, so I would love to be able to decrease the amount of gold on my body.
When the curse was first released, every pirate who equipped it got a random variant out of these 7 and it was a complete gamble. Some people got way too little and were really upset, while others got way too much and were upset. This was clearly a bad system, so Rare changed it. I don't think giving everyone the exact same gold curse was the right way to go about it, though. I think we should get to pick from the 7 and choose which gold curse we get. Anyone who uses the gold curse isn't unique when they come across someone else with it, because they all look the same. For a game that focuses around cosmetics and character appearance, I think it is really important that we get to choose what our curse variant is.
I think those of us who got it deserve a little more variety after putting in the work to complete 45 of the same tall tales. It was a lot of work and took many hours, so I feel like it's a bit of a slap in the face for everyone with it to look the same. Let me know what you guys think...
