This game is a joke...

  • So im on the third chapter of my athena's mercenary voyage, and once i set sail i get attacked by the kraken, i manage to do well enough killing 2 tentacles, when a damn skeleton galleon spawns next to me. Now im on a sloop and fighting those things is a pain as it is, and im basically stationary facing down 4 cannons thanks to the krakens ink. I manage to stop the kraken and it lets me sail away only for a megladon to spawn straight after the kraken disappears. I sink because some lucky skeleton manages to knock me off the damn deck, and now i lost all my athena's loot and a fair few chests.

Now whats a massive kick in the teeth is that i was hoping to spawn relatively close due to it not being a player sinking me, but nope i was at thieves haven, and it spawned me all the way up at marauders arch (The entire map length)

What is the point in playing when 1 tiny flaw like being knocked off a boat manages to sink your ship and lose hours worth of loot?

This game is purely luck based with 0 skill for survival chances involved and i dont understand how its remotely classified as fun, and im beginning to see why i didnt play this game for over 8 months...

So im on the third chapter of my athena's mercenary voyage, and once i set sail i get attacked by the kraken,

The Kraken appears only for players who are inattentive. It was enough to keep an eye around to avoid getting caught.

i manage to do well enough killing 2 tentacles, when a damn skeleton galleon spawns next to me. Now im on a sloop and fighting those things is a pain as it is, and im basically stationary facing down 4 cannons thanks to the krakens ink.

In this case, you should have simply thrown the sails in the wind and fled the Kraken. After running away from him it would be time to worry about the galleon.

I manage to stop the kraken and it lets me sail away only for a megladon to spawn straight after the kraken disappears. I sink because some lucky skeleton manages to knock me off the damn deck, and now i lost all my athena's loot and a fair few chests.

Not even the best and most experienced players always win, don't feel so bad.

Now whats a massive kick in the teeth is that i was hoping to spawn relatively close due to it not being a player sinking me, but nope i was at thieves haven, and it spawned me all the way up at marauders arch (The entire map length)

This is a "defense" of the game so that a player who has been sunk does not return again and again to take revenge on another player.

What is the point in playing when 1 tiny flaw like being knocked off a boat manages to sink your ship and lose hours worth of loot?

What's the point in playing a game without the risk of losing? The fun part is the challenge, improving your skills, evolving.

This game is purely luck based with 0 skill for survival chances involved and i dont understand how its remotely classified as fun, and im beginning to see why i didnt play this game for over 8 months...

Wrong. This game has many RNG elements, but the vast majority of them can be avoided easily. In addition to being extremely easy to sink skeletons or defeat the kraken, especially in a sloop. As you said yourself, you didn't play the game for 8 months, maybe this game is not for you ...

  • some times it's hard to survive in the sea...

  • @flamelord-blaze

Your story is full of holes. When a Kraken spawns on a sloop you only need to kill 2 tentacles for it to die. You said you killed 2 but the Kraken was still alive? If you are on a sloop then a skeleton ship only spawns skelly sloops not galleons unless there was some kind of update. Sorry dont believe you

  • @flamelord-blaze As @TargasBR said, you needed to make different choices. Don’t set sail if you do not see an event cloud in the sky. If you do happen to get caught by the kraken between events, just do a 180 and wait below deck to skip the fight. When a meg spawns, run below deck to avoid getting knocked off when you hear the music that it is about to attack (or hit it in the mouth with a cannonball if you are confident), and just pass by an island if you need to reset the encounter. Despite the title you gave the thread, you just learned the game is actually not a joke and can challenge you. I understand you are upset about losing the Athena chest. It won’t be the last one you find or the last one you lose. The fact that you are that emotionally invested in the loot is a testament to the game’s design.

  • You had a rough night, you will get over it.

You should seen the night me and my friend had. We had the reapers chest, got bit by a megladon, I got killed and our boat ended up sinking really fast. We were dealing with lag issues so that did not help. Anyways I grab the chest and swim to an island to guard the chest, my friend grabs the ship that spawned a ways away, we get on and then we get attacked by a crazy ghost ship. It was like Robo ghost ship, it would not die. I hit it with so many cannons and it would not go down, it was a sloop. You know how these things usually go away if you sail away from it, not this guy. This skelly ship was out for vengeance. It was like evil terminator in Terminator 2. We just made a run for it when we realized nothing we did would sink it and finally once we got the Devil's Roar is just disappeared. We were celebrating our survival of the psycho stalker ghost sloop when all sudden I see that we are about to hit a bunch of explosive barrels that are in the water, why were they all there? I have no idea. Anyways before I could say to my friend "explosive barrels" bam we hit and blew up lol after all that.

We re-spawned on an island of course and we just got drunk and called it a night.

What do you mean by that? When me and my friend are on our sloop it pops up whenever it feels like. Funny when we are not on sloop it doesnt show up.

  • 0 skill for survival ? Nop.

    This.

  • Solo sloop is recommended for experienced players only, as you are taking on the whole game, 3 crew members short from design.

  • @targasbr oh ok so if an event is in the sky that is when the Kraken appears. I did not know that. Oh well me and my friend play with really no objective other than to make enough to buy cute outfits so not too bothered by it.

  • @flamelord-blaze

The trifecta of sea creatures is not an unbeatable one to face. You had a chance you didn't win. You lost in a game, it is a part of games... what is the big deal. Learn from it, adapt and become better. Did you have fun, did it give you a rush of excitement and maybe a sense of panic? It is a new experience and a tale to tell.

You are playing solo, a single mistake can be your downfall. That is the risk you run when you're not recruiting a crew.

I don't get why people keep blaming the game, others, everything else for them losing at times... since when did gamers change that winning is the only acceptable outcome?

It's the opposite; if there is a fleet or regular fort cloud in the sky, no kraken will spawn. If the cloud clears, the kraken can spawn on any ship in open waters until the next cloud event goes up.

The Fort of the Damned cloud does not count as an event cloud.

  • Why are Krakens, Skelly Ships and Megs STILL all spawning at the same time? Are they not planning on fixing this?

  • This game is purely luck based with 0 skill for survival chances involved and i dont understand how its remotely classified as fun, and im beginning to see why i didnt play this game for over 8 months...

Maybe over those 8 months you missed some valuable lessons? All of this could have been easily overcome with experience.

There is nothing to fix. It is fine as it is.

  • @d3adst1ck Ahh ok thank you. Sorry I had a long night of pirating and am still half asleep.

  • @scrubber89 Kinda thought this was a feature. Emergent encounters like this is one of the best parts of the game.

  • It really does feel like the game wants to sink you every now and again, we also had kraken and meg at same time then a ship came right after we killed the kraken, but we went to an island lost meg and sunk the skele gally.

I guess it's just a little test now and again but it can feel cruel if you were alone.

  • @mc-rossco Right??? I feel like that so much sometimes and I do not know why they hate me. Its like hey Rare I pre-ordered your game, bought your controller, bought the packs of Oreo's during the cookie promotion like what more do ya want from me????

  • @scrubber89 sagte in This game is a joke...:

Why are Krakens, Skelly Ships and Megs STILL all spawning at the same time? Are they not planning on fixing this?

They can spawn at the same time...but all 3 is pretty rare, would love to see that from time to time...never had all 3 spawn, just 2 of them

It's RNG and it's good as it is, nothing to fix here

  • I got you all beat....

Being chased by a Galleon, Krackened, Skelly Ghost ship and a meg.
