Global Chat

  • Although I understand the reasons for not allowing a global chat, the game will really benefit from a global chat. If the fear is that it will flood people's screens or harass players, there could easily be an option to ignore the chat in the options.

A global chat is not in Sea of Thieves because it is A: not needed, and B: immersion-breaking. The point of the way the game is built is that you don't know who is really out there - that galleon on the horizon could be a new player who ended up solo on it by accident, or a battle-hardened day one crew who are looking for a fight. That sloop sitting at an island could be a peaceful player just trying to get some commendations, or it could be empty and its crew are halfway to your ship with a gunpowder barrel. Past that, you don't know what ships are out there, either, or where they are. You have to be prepared for many possibilities. Earlier I was on a server where everyone seemed content to sit in their areas and do their own things, followed by another server I joined which had 4 other ships in the same area, almost all of which were looking for a fight. If you have legitimate reasons as to why it would improve gameplay, then please, enlighten us. Also, you should probably look into how you keep turning your posts into JavaScript.

  • @ultmateragnarok Still think that the megaphones atop the Sea Dog's Tavern should broadcast your voice around the area.
