Increase Bullet Speed

  • Let’s be honest here, it feels like we are shooting nerf guns in this game. The bullets travel way slower than they should. Add to that hit registration problems and you have guns that feel pretty clunky and non dangerous overall. Moreover, by the way I understand the hit reg problem, this could be the number one reason to the problem. By the time you shoot the shot, on the server side, the person has already moved by the time the bullet gets there, even though the person my look like they are still there on your screen. I suggest, then, to increase bullet speed by 2-2.5 times the speed that they are currently at. I would love to get feedback on what you guys think!

  • Projectiles apparently have enough velocity to penatrate ships, not sure if speed is the issue or not.

  • @br0crastinat0r Bullets going though walls is not because of their velocity, it is because of their hit detection. When a bullet hits a wall it doesn’t destroy the bullet. The only time a bullet despawns is if it hits a player, skeleton or the ground.

  • Personally i think Rare needs to fix on balancing their guns(blunderbuss) rather than do this. I am not saying this is a bad idea. Just it isn't a high priority. Exept ofc hit reg that is a big issue rn

  • @simplelyricc I am suggesting that maybe the reason why hit reg is so bad is because of the bullet speed. The pistol is the worst, and it also has a really slow bullet speed.

  • I doubt the bullets are real projectiles. It's likely ray tracing (hitscan) with a "speed" calculation to add distance modifier to determine a hit or not, so changing the bullet speed won't do anything to improve hit registration. It's also likely why the ships let bullets pass straight through.

I'd be very surprised if they went to the trouble of doing ballistics modelling in a cartoon game with made up weapons :D

  • @simplelyricc blunder doesnt need balancing. But people need a way to counter it, maybe a shield or something.
