FISHING! Reeling technique tested.

  • Whether you are in the fishing scene or not, this information might help you. Previously, I have heard rumors that reeling techniques could greatly change your fishing experience. It was said that moving your rod in a circle motion was fastest, but I wasn't so sure. So I tested it. My findings are indeed surprising.

To start, I tested the circling technique. This involves moving your rod in a circle while reeling. Folklore insists this is the fastest way to reel in a fish. I averaged times over five fish using this technique, and found the average time to reel in a fish was 52 seconds.

I next tried pointing the pole tip down while reeling. I averaged five fish, and again found 52 seconds per fish to be what you can expect.

After finding that the rumor was false, I attempted to reel fish in without using any pole input. While reeling, without any input on the pole, and averaging 5 fish, I found the average to be 69 seconds (nice).

This shirt study showed that technique does matter, however pointing the rod tip down seems to be the most favorable option.

Studies were performed catching stone isle hoppers at Crooks Hollow.

Further studies to follow, off to the fishing grounds I go.
