Man'O'War Skeleton Boss Ship

  • The fabled Man'O'War ship type has been a want from the community since the launch of the game. However, since only a small amount of Man'O'War type ships can be on a server I propose a different use for the Man'O'War ship. I will be referring to it as the MoW.

Instead of having the MoW be a player-controlled ship it could instead be a skeleton controlled ship. Instead of spamming the player with lots of skeleton ships maybe one giant MoW ship could spawn, this ship would be slow and take time to make turns but would have many rows of cannons and have cannons at the front and back of the ship. This would require all of the crew to be focused on taking down one behemoth of a ship.
With the new Tall Tale just being released and the great reveal at the end maybe the MoW could be captained by that skeleton.

Who knows what Rare has in store. I just hope I get to shoot things. Have fun pirating yall!

I imagine a man-o-war appearing as more or less a longer and wider galleon with a 6 cannon broadside, my version having two triangular sails in between the front two masts and from the foremast to the bowsprit, respectively. It has a 6-spoked capstan to match its six crew. It has two harpoon launchers on the stern, too, on a raised section reminiscent of the galleon's bow.
Also, a frigate, being a four masted ship with 4 cannons per side, per deck, and 3 decks total. Once water reaches some ways up the top deck, it's pretty much gone due to the large cannon ports on the sides, which are also capable of being bailed from. It has two capstans of four spokes each, and eight crew to match, and two top-upper deck staircases as well. The bottommost deck of it is split into two, with one staircase at the fore end of the ship going to one bottom level, and a staircase at the aft end of the ship going to the other. The one middle staircase serves as a major choke point, but not one which can easily be blocked as it can be approached from both sides by new spawns. It has a near identical raised platform for rear harpoons, and the bowsprit sits on a platform a floor lower than the half-raised deck behind it, with a staircase leading to it.

As for skeleton lord ships, particularly an ashen lord like that one was, I had two ideas for ships. One is essentially a frigate with a galleon on each side, however the bottom-most decks of the galleons and the two bottom-most (the split one and the one above) decks of the frigates fill separately, while the middle deck of the frigate, as well as both top-most decks and the top and upper decks of the galleons are connected and flood as one. The other idea is two frigates end-to-end, one with the stern removed and one with the bow removed to serve as a very large hull. It bears an entire sloop with a full kraken skeleton strung from it as the bowsprit and figurehead, and some other interesting features such as its many crow's nests and platforms between the masts, with an open kraken mouth adorning the top-most one.

  • This BOSS could spawn with a reapers flag and lots of reapers loot.
Basically a mobile fort that will encourage crews to work together.

Make it tough enough you need allies.

4 floors, top two decks laden with guns.

  • I love the idea of Skeleton Ship MOW, but let me add onto that. Here's my idea of how it would go down.

MOW spawns kinda like a FotD, i.e doesn't take up the Fleet/Fort spot and is player activated and takes time to activate. Once activated it'll play out like a Fleet with maybe one or two more waves, but instead of the captain Galleon, the MOW is the final boss. UNLIKE Fleets however, players can of course choose to sink it and get massive rewards (FotD loot x3 with ashen athena or two Athenas because fleets have always been harder than forts) or they can board the MOW and kill a Skeleton Lord along with their crew to take over the MOW. Once you take over the MOW you can choose to make it your main ship until it gets sunk so you can respawn on it and if you're in an alliance you can take on "new crew members" limited to two crews (for example a crew of 4 from a gally and a crew of 2 from a sloop etc.). However, the MOW would always appear on the map like a Reaper's, and there can only be one MOW per server. This way it adds new PvE, new PvP opportunities, a new public event, and the MOW a lot of people have been wanting, all while minimizing the server data it'd take up.
