How should I aim at sleeping emote pirates?

  • TL;DR

Does a pirate’s hitbox drop to the ground when the pirate does the Sleep emote? Or does the hitbox remain as though the pirate was standing upright despite using the Sleep emote?

    More Detailed Question

I was wondering what is the best way to aim at a sleeping emote Pirate to ensure my gunshot gives maximum damage.

There are a bunch of emotes and 99% of them involve a standing pirate. But the sleep emote puts the pirate down on the ground. Does the pirates hitbox drop to the floor with them? Is the game clever enough to do that?

Or maybe I’m not one-shotting sleeping pirates with my Blunder because I’m aiming down into the floor to shoot their laying bodies. But despite the emote putting their bodies on the ground - maybe the game still considers them as a standing Pirate and so their hitbox is much higher than the ground?

In other words if I shoot down at the laying pirate I’m doing the equivalent of shooting a pirate in his toes? - Which naturally shouldn’t do a lot of damage and should never really one shot kill.

I ask because... I think it’s the latter. I haven’t tested this and thus I wonder if anybody else took the time to figure this out?

I think the game still considers the pirate standing upright despite the position the emote has left them in. I could be wrong though, and I thought I’d ask this burning question because I want to do the right thing when killing a tuccer.

  • It doesn't matter where you hit.. as long as you hit.. you take the same damage from a head shot as you do a toe shot

Then is it a case of how many of the sprayed shells nails the pirate and how close you are to a pirate that determine the damage given? Or is it RNG?

When it comes to sleeping pirates, I reccomend being the big spoon. Less likely to wake them.

  • @ell635 If I recall correctly there are 10 pellets fired and each pellet does 10% damage (so all must hit for a 1 tap). There is no difference in damage depending on body part hit. I haven't really tested the emote status, but I believe the hit box does change to reflect the player lying down. Pretty sure there are times I would've been shot/swiped while sleeping otherwise, and vise versa.

  • It may be harder to hit a sleeping pirate with a blunder because the hit box is orientated differently.

The best way to find out where the hitbox is would be to find another crew that would help test and use a pistol to determine hitable locations.

  • Always aim for the center of the pirate rather than limbs or head. All pirates have the same hitbox regardless of size so, if they're a little portly, it can be a bit misleading if you aim for extremities.

  • Would a sword swipe knock them out of the emote animation? If it does, hack and blast lol.

I've never been cool enough to have someone tuck on my sloop. 😭🧜🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

  • @pithyrumble That you know of

  • @ell635 the closer you are with he blunder bus the more balls hit... closer you are the more damage =1 shoting them at point blank
