im so sick and tired of doing these damn quests over and over and over just to have some dimwit sink my boat over and over in a 4 person ship come and attack me when i literally have nothing on my sloop. we need private servers i dont give a damn about achievements and all that i just want to finish the shroudbreaker and i cant. whats the point of having quests when people can take the quest items? id rather be on a server with just my friends then be on any server with toxic people. this game isnt fun when your trying to actually get something done and someone has to come mess it up. its taken me 3 weeks just to find 1 star gem because of other players. im probably going to uninstall this trash can of a game. Private servers for people trying to get stuff done on the quest line.
private servers should be a option.
Ahoy pirate!
I can understand you, but you also have to understand the game.
This is a pirate game and the game does it all to make you feel unsafe on The high seas.
That's the purpose of the game.
Also, the game presents challenges, so you did not play the game in 7 days.
When Rare introduces private servers, it gets boring everywhere and for everyone.
Such pirates as will complain because everything is far too easy and they have no PvP and challenges.
Those who want to play online will not come across any pirates because those like those go away or play on private servers.
The game loses its atmosphere and sense as there will be no danger except NPC.
If you do not play the game for rewards or achievements, just keep playing. If someone attacks you, then you fight, if not, then flee. As simple as that.
There are also many discord servers where you can find more pirates, so take the game with a little fun and not so serious.Otherwise, I wish you and all who have read this a lot of fun on the high seas and maybe we'll see each other!
They need proper match making but they have no criteria on which to do that so your unfortunately going to be screwed. Developers seem to be blind to how much of an impact match making has on the users game experience. In a multiplayer game how you match ships completely changes game experience. They can read my post if they want but no one seems to understand or care so gg SOT.
I could be mistaken, but I thought at some point Rare is considering adding some private servers.
However, they aren't the type of servers you want, as they would be focused towards content creators or creating community events. Gold, reputation, and achievement progression would be turned off on these servers. You can play on them, but there will be no rewards. Like I said, I could be mistaken.
Not sure how much you've played, but it just seems like you're inexperienced. I've done solo sloop through all the tall tales and I haven't had any of these issues.
If you want help doing them, msg me. I'll add you and help get them done.
Welcome to the forums @ToKEnBUDZ!
So you are mad about PVP in a multiplayer PVE/PVP game. Gotcha. Sorry you didn't like your experience, enjoy your next game!
@mr-dragon-raaar said in private servers should be a option.:
@tokenbudz
they'll now be some folk along spouting the usual nonsense like "its a pirate game" and "sea of THIEVES" as if it excuses this type of behaviour.to be honest i would just bin the game.
rare are all about promoting this kind of "gameplay" and its only going to get worse in the future.
if you are new to the game i would not waste my time on it when there are plenty of other great games out there.Nonsense? Is this a pirate game or not?
The argument does come back, since other people can't wrap their heads around the fact this is a PVE/PVP Pirate game where attacking and stealing from each other is simply part of the premise (whether you like it or not).
Please follow your own advice if don't like the game, instead of nagging and wagging fingers at the ones who do enjoy it, with every aspects that comes with it.
@mr-dragon-raaar you're a long time player and I don't see why you would come to the forums and tell people not to play sot. This game can be great once you get past the learning curve. I could solo the shroud breakerinless than an hour.
Sure there are trolls on the seas but that's always been the case. Way before alliances were a thing people would troll the seas. I've been sunk more times than I can count.
-Comes to read someone’s post about an issue in this game
-instead of being understanding decides to be the toxic dimwit this person clearly mentions.
@tokenbudz don’t forget your also going against Pc players that use aim bot and unlimited health with no option to turn cross play off! But The toxic people will just tell you that comes with being a pirate in the high seas Yo Ho Ho and to stop complaining.
I agree with your post and sadly agree they won’t listen to you. They have an arena area to have the best of the best people playing with controllers option on or off and then they allow these same PROS to go in adventure mode going against new pirates with no option to turn match with controllers only. Backwards asf. To bad they don’t advertise before you buy, “ this game is not for everyone only the skilled players that have been playing forever/that have PC will have a fighting chance.

Surprise, a newbie will always lose out to a veteran. Name one multiplayer game where this is not the case.
I see your also speaking the truth. Your fellow comrades are choosing to bash you for your own honest opinion because you didn’t hop on the, “bash every complainer train” I’m sure the guy wouldn’t have bought the game if Rare would have advertised the truth on the game instead of selling it like a family fun game filled with good times and adventure for every pirate out there. O.o

So what kind of matchmaking would you suggest? How can the system know, if the player is more up to PvP or PvE?
I know crossplay is always a contentious topic, but I want to remind everyone to keep it civil and not resort to name-calling. It's against the forum rules, and the Pirate's Code requires us to be respectful of our fellow sailors!

Oh the irony. I clearly understand why OP wants private servers. I also understand that private servers defeats the entire point of the core gameplay.
Maybe instead of replying to everyone pointlessly, you could go watch some dev vids and see what the devs say about private servers.
@tokenbudz lol Thanks I needed this post today, had a good laugh. As others have stated , as Rare themselves have stated, this game is open world PvP and PvE, you take out the PvP because for some reason you can't crew up and defend yourself, you are removing a whole part of the game, you know... the THIEVES part.....
I am sorry you misread the title of this game as:
Quiet Questing on the Sea of Tranquility, lol.
3 weeks to find one star gem is just exaggeration, I completed all 10 tall tales, 5 times each in 9 days, mostly with a 2 man crew. It wasn't hard and the servers are never full of PvP only crews.@xx-rose-goid-xx Not sure what rock you crawled out from with your trolling of PvP pirates and the way this game is meant to be played, it seems a little to hard for you. Maybe you should go download Minecraft to play with the kids and people at your own skill level.
And again nobody is using Aim bot or unlimited HP, there is problems in this game with hit registration, when you lag or the other guy is lagging, you can shoot them sword them and nothing happens, since they are not standing where the game is reporting they are. I had an Xbox player told repeatedly that they were using hacks and unlimited HP, because of this teleporting lag issue.
Obviously he was not, and it was funny to hear them all claim he was a PC hacker when the guy is playing on a first year Xbox potato with 30fps.@rotax99 actually its not an exaggeration it took me 3 days to get the shroudbreaker. because people wouldnt leave me alone.

Quest items from tall tales was discussed on a stream with summit and pace.
I suggest to watch it.
Summit and pace were actually sympathetic towards players who worked hard to obtain items only to then have them trashed and wiped, and agreed that when a item has no value to anyone else that players being egregious just to ruin someone's quest is sad.
They even explained that they have returned these items to players after looting them.
Point being that it seems it is on rares radar now.

What ?
I got the impression personally that they want those items protected.
Not saying you ain't entitled to your opinion though, just a bit of a strange reaction to make given the context here.

I think he means in generalI mean I could say the same about some users of this forum.
Doesn't really add any thing of value to the discussion though.
Point being, its irrelevant to the context.
with private servers and preventing pirates to steal quest items, this story never could happened:
I found the second of two quest items and was on the way to my target, when a pirate board me and kill me. After i respawn he was away and my second item too. Ok, regular pirate thing.
But then i saw a ship from distance and he shout :" I got your skull. If you want it back, give me 5k in exchange with loot."
For the roleplay and as an defeated pirate i helped him out to loot this sum and he gave me the item back. After that we was friends :-)
Nice roleplay
