Crossplay Bugs

  • Hello there,
I am playing on Xbox one S with my friend on PC.
I am pretty good playing others online FPS games on console.
I have started making videos whenever I was on fight against PC players.
Why? because everytime there is a fight against a PC player I can't compete (I mean a real fight with weapons not like placing an explosive barrel while they are fishing).

I am a legend from the first year, spend more than 357days on the sea and I don't even feel salty or bad anymore whenever a PC players kicks my bottom. I don't feel bad because I now from there point of view they've just been better and that's most of the time the case.
It's easy to know if it's a PC players you just need to check your friends list and the "recently played" players list to see the little logo (who looks like a computer) next to there name to know if they are playing on PC.

So that I am sure I am playing against PC players when bugs/glitch/lag occurred.
Bugs/Glitch/Lag call it how you want but it needs to be fixed I've been playing Sea of Thieves since the official lunch and these problems still exists.

    Not Really about Halloween
Here is a video I took few days ago when a Brig was chasing us. I could draw any weapons. The PC guy was slashing me, there is nothing I could do.. (edit "oh yes I can scuttle the ship"). The video shows one of the extreme case of bug, most of the time it's just a slight teleportation of players or little freeze of the game.

Yesterday on the same server (adventure) my mates (one xbox, one PC) and I encountered 4 ships every time with PC players and every time glitches/bugs/lags occurred.

Like I said earlier I don't feel bad about being sunk like noobs on a Brig against sloops, I just send the guys a message and apologies being a console player, and having no chance to fight back.

But that would be lovely if console players couldn't have the glitch/bug/lag problems

    Edit
    Jumping Outside
Same picture as a above with a link

Jumping in Water? No in my back
I couldn't jump, the guy could, he apparently end up in the water but no he teleported in my friends and in my back.. is this a lag? Giving him advantage

    Impossible shooting
On this one the opponent knows how to move but how does she jumps beside then behind me, while my character froze..

    EDIT NO°2
    Thanks for all your answers.
1-For the "Jumping in Water" watch carefully the video you will see the pirate didn't jump in my back and didn't have the time to climb the ladder to slay both of us. I added a link of a screenshot where you can clearly see him falling. It was just really laggy. But what I don't understand is that the other pirate (PC player) doesn't feel affected by the "Lag". The first cannon ball went very low considering the angle I gave to the cannon. I wanted to jump on the other boat but I couldn't like if my character was frozen. The second harpoon I tried to shoot there were like tiny drop of the connection the boat went instantly a little under my aim (no that's not the waves).

2-My sensitivity on controller is at 9/10 I am playing with the highest sensitivity on any other FPS games , If you think I moving like a noob on the video It's because of the lag, same if I can't draw any weapons.

3-Does anyone else replying is playing on Xbox with a PC player?

    EDIT NO°3
I Don't play SOT anymore, it's just a waste of time

  • That seems more like a bug than anything to do with PC players.

  • As someone who has played on both and had a chance to see the differences they are minimal. Yes PC has faster load times, their movement can be more smooth most console players dont even realize they can turn sensitivity up in their settings which makes a huge difference.

lag, bugs etc happen in the game and they are being worked on. Lag, latency and stuttering has been a huge issue since the fotd update because certain areas are so active, but im sure rare will do what they can to address those issues and try and reduce the amount it happens.

lag happens, and PC players with good rigs can reduce that amount significantly.

But its not necessarily a pc player issue. Do they have an advantage, yea but its very minimal, and console players with some tactics and settings changes can level that playing field somewhat easily.

  • @blattepigeon7

These lag occur also on PC fighting whoever.

  • @BlattePigeon7
Lag affects both sides in a fight. However, given the immense AoE of the cutlass, it is better to use in a situation where lag is prevalent. This seems more like the server you were in wasn't one for your region, likely due to joining another player in another region, as you cannot be put into one such server by matchmaking alone. If your crewmate started the ship and you joined it, and perhaps following a server merge, it would cause these issues, or similarly if the two of you were far enough apart that both being in the crew before starting still resulted in a severe distance issue. This isn't an issue with PC players, it's an issue with the game as a whole.

  • Lag happens with everyone. You can encounter lag as a pc player when getting close to a ship full of Xbox players. It has nothing to do with platform, and more to do with server load and player connection quality.

If someone has a bad connection (like if they are in an out of region server) , they can lag the game for anyone around them - and in some cases cause higher ping for the entire server at any distance.

  • @BlattePigeon7

I play on Xbox too, I had the same issue like you in the clip. In my exp. it due to lag and the game not syncing whatever you have in your hand.

I assume you took something either from a barrel or switched your weapon via the box?

  • @bugaboo-bill thank you, can you please give a link of a video with PC players having that kind of lag?

  • @blattepigeon7

Don't feel bad. It's not you playing poorly, and it's not this game being buggy. This is the reality of what this game offers you as a Xbox player. The short end of the straw.
Nothings changing there. Gotta learn to live with it I'm afraid.

  • I''m on pc and have the same issue's as the op. Since the update i can go from 50 ping to 300 in combat. Food and weapon bugs also. It's not only xbox

  • @blattepigeon7

First video, wow that just looks buggy... haven't seen that before. I cannot really say much about that, it is hard to fight if a guy is a skeleton seemingly not doing any animations. That is just bad luck. That is one way to have the game ruin it for you.

The others are not just lag. Lag is also not based on your device, but rather the connection you have, your location and the location of the server. Trust me on this, I have played from the beautiful South Africa and on a PC have captained an underwater ship, while my mate on Xbox was laughing at me while I panicked, there wasn't anything wrong on his end, we were just sailing smoothly.

Other than that, I do play with a controller on occasion and find your sensitivity level to seemingly be on the low side. You might for battle want to look at your settings, I personally remapped jump, food and upped my sensitivity levels significantly to have the idea I can actually fight... the default is so slow at turning.

Also, you may be decent in other games, but you are making some major mistakes in this one. The fact that you seemingly don't notice that you got boarded, are not defending your own ship and to focused on the other are clear indicators to me that you have much to learn. This allowed them to get the first hit off, be behind you, root you (sword) and murder you. Regardless of the platform these mistakes are easily punished and any of my xbox only buddies or if I am on my controller could easily dispose of you if we gotten that far uncontested.

Example your video Sea of Thieves lagging issues? did you notice around 14 seconds in that the guy jumped off board and will be on the ladder soon? Yet you grab the harpoon, instead of defending the ladder or at least turn towards the threat, which allowed them to hit you from behind, causing you to be rooted in place and start off the fight with nearly no health, facing the wrong way.

Combat in this game relies heavily on situational awareness, correct decision making and knowledge. After that yes, execution is the next part and that is where I can give controller players a case for input model differences, which debatable could be an opt out option... though in that case please allow me to do so as well with a controller. It is a lot harder to master and if it is deemed worthy of a split, why would I be excluded. Xbox players can use a mouse and keyboard, so... fair treatment?

I am sorry to say based on what I see these are mainly issues on your end and has nothing to do with your opponents or their machines/input model.

  • That first clip was wierd, but u would have died anyway. The other 2 @D3ADST1CK is right about. Your sensitivity is really low. And your situational awareness is terrible mate. Not tryin to be mean here.

    You need some combat practice.

  • I don’t think it’s glitchy or broke.

Your racing a Kia against a Tesla.

Nothings wrong with the Kia but clearly it can’t keep up with the Tesla!

Doesn’t mean the Kia is broke it just not as fast as the Tesla.

    Kia - Xbox
    Tesla - PC

Doesn’t make you better or worse. Just can’t compare the two!

  • @glannigan the driver still matters, before you can start comparing car parts you have to first be a driver at the same skill level.

The Tesla is a smoother ride maybe, but the Kia drives perfectly fine.

But that’s just it. Stevie Wonder can beat a Kia in a Tesla.

Does that make him the better driver?

  • @glannigan if you get defeated by a blind man driving.... I am wondering if you even know how to drive, regardless of the car they have. Stop acting like there is no way to impact the outcome by your own game play and be a gamer.

When the Xbox Scarlett come out will you still complain about unfair hardware advances now you are vs a different xbox that is 4x as powerful compared to the current latest xboxes and will be running at double the FPS? Cause it might be no Tesla, but it will be a BMW or is that ok because it is branded XBox.

Also, you do realize that not everyone on PC has a Tesla, they come in all shapes and sizes just like other cars. In your argument you are acting like PCs aren't also the VW, Fiats, Renault, Dacias, etc. They are always the best of the best. I wish I was that rich that I could upgrade my PC in that fashion. My PCs last me around 9 years with 1 upgrade to the graphics unit and usually one upgrade to the RAM. Your machine makes you win is such a cheap excuse, there is more to gaming than just the hardware you are running it on.

To be honest it is offensive to suggest that because of my hardware all the hundreds of hours practicing, the losses I have endured and caused me to adjust my play are meaningless, since I would win regardless. I am not a Pro, I am a pretty average gamer... however I am always working to improve. If a pirate whether on xbox or PC fail at the following aspects of the game, it does not matter whether they have a Tesla, Kia or a unicycle as a device:

    1. Notice a ship approaching.
    2. Notice a boarder approaching.
    3. Defend their ladders.
    4. Turn to face their opponents.
    5. Know how to sail and be parked.
    6. Know how to respond to water flooding in the ship, and no patching the hole is not always the best option.
    7. The ability to adjust to the situation and actually place themselves on equal footing, a position where they can control the situation or move the entire battle into the domain of ship on ship combat.
    8. Learn the combat mechanics and other game mechanics, aka game knowledge.

Did you even watch his clips? They are like 30 secs each and I spotted major basic pirating mistakes within that time frame, as well as indications that he hasn't improved his settings and therefore running on the default sensitivity levels, which frankly don't cut it in a more competitive play style.

I am talking about being a proper pirate. This game can be played without ever even needing to be in CQC with another player if one pleases. I play solo a fair bit, if I am battling 3 or 4 pirates, xbox or PC I cannot just win without playing at the top of my game. They have a huge advantage in numbers, I have been spawn camped, sunk and lost many times before and most likely will still lose from time to time, yet I can play 100% safe if I so please. If you want an advantage on an xbox just move the battle to a ship on ship, where to be honest the controller has the nicer controls and is why I am practicing using it. It is the more secure and controllable way to fight anyway, even when I use my M&K I tend to do it until I know how good the opponents are.

Even when equally matched in skill the win rates will still be at what a 60 - 40 division at most. I play on a PC, yet the majority of my crew are on xBox. I trust them to manage the ship and themselves in battle, for some reason they are able to compete just fine along side me without me ever feeling that they cannot keep up. They are perfectly fine with a Kia, so what is your excuse?

If you want input model opt out it should not be limited to xbox. PC and xBox can use both models and should get treated fairly. I do agree that mastery of a controller is more challenging.
