Servers for Separate Ship Types

  • Countless amounts of times I have played solo in SoT and have done forts and such. However, 90% of the time, while being in a Sloop, Brigs and Galleons interrupted my fort, and easily wiped my ship out without me being able to do anything because of the amount of crew mates the other ships have. Meaning, all my time spent clearing a fort to get all the loot, is wiped and stolen by someone else just because they have more people and bigger ships.

I believe that there should be an option for people to join separate servers for separate ships. For example, I join a server that only has Sloops in it. So on, so forth.

This would make people who don't have many friends who play SoT to have an enjoyable experience playing the game.

Sea of Thieves' shared world is designed so that you can encounter a wide range of different player types, crew sizes, experience levels, etc, etc... It's a social game and we are never supposed to have any expectations or information about what other players are out in the world with us until we encounter them. Your suggestion would introduce a most detrimental divide in the playerbase and a greater sense of predictability in the world, which is not good for Sea of Thieves.

Each ship type has its own advantages and disadvantages regarding sailing speed, maneuvering, combat, repairing, bailing, and more. I suggest you spend time garnering your experience through trial and error, and take time to learn about the intricate balance between the ships in the game.

  • This is a horrible suggestion, why would they ruin that experience of a shared world because you're bad at the game? I can solo 3 galleon alliances and get away with the loot but if a brig rolls up, you just say "REMOVE THIS FROM THE GAME!!!" grow up and deal with it, life is not always fair but it is what you make of it

  • @dreadlistx chill

  • @thekranch what do you mean? I's not trying to be mean I'm just saying this is not a good path for the game

  • Ever heard of kegs my dear fellow friend 😏

While I agree with you, I also don't want to continuously be out in a situation where I'm against 4 people as a solo. If I die, I can't respawn fast enough for me to repair my ship because they would be shooting it constantly. I CAN win against 4 people, and I have, but it is inconsistent because it's based on luck (wether they're good or not).

And I don't want to always rely on getting away from the time I spend trying to take down something. I'd rather take my well earned loot, then take scraps of it.

  • @thekranch But this will mean that I will only be up against sloops when soloing (and possibly galleons, but those are a very rare sight now adays)... And I am already up against mainly sloops when soloing. Do you realize how much fun it is to beat people in 4v1's? its quite fun, I don't think they should remove that ability.

  • @thekranch
Ship type is not why you are losing.

Even if you got your wish, you will still get steamrolled by a 3 duo sloop alliance. And it will be a much faster beating than a single galleon can give u

If you'd rather keep your treasure, then don't try to fight in a 1v4 or 1v3 situation with a half crewed ship against a fully crewed one. Get better at leading them into a disadvantage. For instance, you, in your sloop, will outpace brigantines and galleons alike while sailing directly into the wind. You will be free to drop off of the ship and attempt a board as many times as you like, with gunpowder kegs or simply your own weapons, in attempts to hijack, distract, delay or even sink the crew. When doing events, keep your head on a swivel and keep your ship stocked up. Planks are essential, followed by cannonballs and fruit. A good supply of gunpowder kegs, cursed cannonballs, and cooked meat wouldn't hurt either. Past that, when a larger ship approaches, take note of the situation - location, orientation, nearby skeleton ships, kraken possibilities, onboard resources, your skill and readiness, the incoming ship's appearance - all of it can help. You can tell a lot about a ship by what liveries it has equipped, whether their sails are turned, and what they have in their crow's nest. Should you decide to fight, use your superior maneuverability to keep out of the other ship's line of fire while keeping them in yours, listen and watch for boarders and defend the biggest choke point you have: the ladders. You can keep yourself afloat better than any other ship, are a smaller target, and a faster turner. You can also recover from just about anything, be it a keg, cursed cannonball barrage, normal cannonball barrage, ram, land formation, anchor drop, anything. Should you run, keep in mind the maneuverability of a sloop, and the water displacement. Being chased by a brigantine? Run some circles between parts of islands, or charge one and turn away quickly. You'll turn long before they will, and they'll run aground. Being chased by a galleon? Find a good sanbar (uncharted islands work great for this) or some particularly thin rocks to go by, and watch as the galleon, with its wider and taller hull, hits something and gets caught. Being solo doesn't mean you're defenceless, though you're also playing what has been designated by the developers themselves as the 'hard mode' of the game.

So you choose to play solo?? You can play with other players or play in bigger ships but you choose to play solo in the smallest ship in the game.

So where is this Rare's problem or why should Rare fix anything for you? You made a personal decision. If you can't handle the consequences of those decisions then either (A) don't play solo, or (B) Get a bigger ship to sail in and fill up the crew.

"But I want to sail by myself because of whatever made up reasons" - That is completely and utterly a personal problem. Live with the choice you made. Want to sail solo then be good enough to handle your business. If you aren't then get better at the game or get help. Stop asking for Mommy Rare to hold your hand.

Your idea is not a good one.
