FOTD Boss Fight Too Easy

  • When you go back to your ship and shoot him at the beach with cannon balls, Graymarrow's Ghost will just sit there and try to damage you with his low-range-chest-clap things. My suggestion here would be to make him able to throw those chest towards you and damage your ship if he can't reach you.

  • yeah, love the side of withe walkers in game of throne like, '' dead can't swim '' for the skel, but sometimes it feels a bit ridiculous, espacially for the endgame boss

  • I’d be cautious to use the term too easy, because of his insane health bar. But the general sentiment that there should be more variety and more mechanics involved - yes, agree. They should also add a health bar above him.

    More health doesn't higher the difficulty on the fight itself but rather gives other crews the chance to join the fight.
    The fact that if you're staying on your ship Graymarrow would just be a bullet sponge makes himself as the boss fight no challenge.
    So he actually is too easy.

  • A 20 minute PVE fight is not fun... at least to me. So I like the fact that you can end the boss with cannons fast. That forces you to plan your session and stock the ship, and makes you vulnerable for other crews if you want to grind the fort several times.

  • Comes at the cost of cannonballs and makes you less capable to fight other ships if you blow 100 i to him.
    I dont know how much he can eat, but i dont do it this way anymore, found a better way to fight him.

    lurk him to the pier and sniper, pistol nonstop.
    If you have kegs, well, but do that in the midle of the way up behin that turret in the middle. 100% a big hit :)
    Did 3 runs this morning, Gray was down in no time this way, no we dint use Mega Kegs, but afaik its 20 Mega Kegs and 20 normals to onehit him.

    • Complains about Gray being too easy, while on a Pirate ship with 100+ cannon balls.

    How about you fight him on foot with a sword and gun instead? Even the odds? Throw him a bone?....you know....if you want a challenge.

    • Maybe have the fort spawn Skeleton Sloops that circle the island? xD

    He shoot you, but yeah, not really.

  • Cheese the fight and of course it's going to be easy. People are always going to find cheeses.. if you want a challenge then don't use the ship. He already has enough health and is hard enough. Games not really mean't to be 'hard'. Just consuming and luck based. Getting commendations isn't hard, just time consuming. Killing skeletons is not hard, they just overwealm you with numbers.

  • It's funny how people want the game to be more "hard" when they play the "easiest" way because they can't kill a boss in a "normal" way...
    If you kill Graymarrow with cannonballs (which a lot of players still do) it means that it's already hard for you to fight with sword, blunderbuss, pistol,... isn't?
    The only smart things this boss needs for me are:

    1. health bar
    2. decrease the health so players enjoy more the fight on the ground instead from the ship
    3. ofc more mechanics because it can be boring do the same things over and over
  • @ziobasi I agree he's hard enough to kill already if it is made harder it wouldn't be fun.

  • Now the interesting thing I see here is "you're picking the easiest way of killing him". I mean I could as well try to kill him only with gun powder skeletons he spawns but what's the deal with that when I get the option to just shoot him from far away without getting punished for that? Why should I pick a more difficult way to do something than a fundamental mechanic of the whole game? Do you guys try to kill skeletons with snake poison because they're easy, too?
