The update brought some good and some bad to it and here are my thoughts.

    1. Skulls didn't need an audio cue, and now you can't hide them as easily. To put it simply, it's really annoying and I have never had a problem finding skulls before. Is Rare catering towards the blind and is there a blind person who plays this game (not being sarcastic)?

    2. Bring back hiding chests in your body! I'm serious, everyone I came across including my own party complained about this. You did not take away the sword lunge when it was an unintended consequence so why would you take away this. I had fun hiding gunpowder kegs and ambushing my friends with it. please bring this back into the game.

    3. New combat mechanics: I for one actually like the changes. Maybe the sword did not need to be buffed, but I for one think it's more balanced. Technically double shots are still a thing, but you cannot do it reliably anymore. my main actually used to be sniper/sword all the time. when I first started this game, I switched to a blunderbuss/sword whenever I was about to board a ship because it seemed like common sense and now it just so happens that this is the most op combo you can do close quarters. Some may argue a sniper/pistol or pistol/sword combo, but the game is balanced now, so whatever you go with is your preference and not the game telling you to use the most op combo (aka double shooting). In the end, everyone has the same mechanics as you do, so just practice your combat and have fun.

    4. more content please :)

Thank you developers at Rare and play-testers for making a fun and balanced game.

  • @blackberrest3 Ahoy matey!

To answer point one... I do know a person who will probably be benefiting from this audio change and that is @SightlessKombat who I have had the pleasure of sailing with and is blind.

So while I am not sure if this was why the change was made, any advancements in this area to better aid sightless to play I'm all for it.

  • @musicmee Indeed, and that is why I would like for every player to make dolphin-like ticks that can be heard from any distance and would reflect back towards the originator of the noise to allow for sonar based target recognition at a distance.

  • The Skull change is really annoying with where most people put them on ships when you're driving and can hear them the whole time. On top of that the more you have on ship the worse it gets.

  • The sword lunge is not really a bug perse, as you do lunge forward during a power attack, and it is the removal of friction to stop you that makes it work. It makes sense irl, if you yeet yourself off a cliff you keep going forward horizontally, you don't stop as if you just jumped a little off the ground going foward and then had the ground stop you. The amount of thrust could be toned down to match if they wanted to "fix" it.

The chest is an interacation of emotes while picking up, that is definitely a bug. In what way can you pick up an item similar size to a chest, and wave at someone and it is inside you?

  • The skull sounds is likely to make it easier to locate them after you kill a captain in the bushes. It was annoying to hear them the whole time while driving the ship but you get used to it.

  • @musicmee That is amazing, thank you for sharing that. I can't even imagine what the experience would be like, I am thoroughly impressed with SightlessKombat

  • The sword lunge isn't a bug, it's a feature.

I absolutely hate the audio changes of the skulls, and I have found no crew mate yet who does like them. That constant whispering is extremely annoying.
I only found out about the disappearing chest trick a couple of days before the patch so that does not bother me much.
I think the stun lock needs to be taken out of the sword combat as this would really improve a good swashbuckling fight. As it is, especially with the sword update, your are dead as soon as anyone hits you, especially as block really does not seem to be working right at the minute, as in hardly working at all.
