PVE - Multiple Crew

  • we usually play more than 4, and honestly is difficult to find each other in the same server. i totally understood the balance theory but for the PVE , that you are close to launch, please give us the possibility to :

    1. create multiple crew in the same server
    2. able to change the boat without go out the session
    3. able to change the minimum number of the crew per type of ship

i believe in PVE, this kind of vantage doesn't make any problem for the balance , crew vs crew because there are no more that battle. regarding the general balance instead you can always increase the life of the scheleton .

  • I highly doubt that they're ever going to make PvE servers because the whole point of this game is for nice pirates like you to get owned by thieves like me :)

    [mod edit]

  • @rodlimitless i just read an article where they announce they are working on PVE and PVP updates. maybe was just a fake news, i don't know. i like PVP a lot! but i like more to play with all my friend. The balance is really important; so i can understand why they don't allow multiple crew in PVP. In PVE on the other hand i believe they could allow us, or not?

  • @rodlimitless

  • @triheadedmonkey

where we are boost sales in this post? we are just talking regarding the possibility to play with more than 4 friends?

  • @teo17 Well @RodLimitless post was edited so I'm assuming he left a link to his Twitch channel (which he seems to do every time he posts) which is against the forum rules.

  • @octopus-lime now it's clear :-) thanks man!! i didn't see the link

  • No 1 would already solve this problem and is in the works. Joe Naete has dropped hints for this during a livestream.

No 2 would be nice but the session has a max number of players and changing ships would make that max number of players increase. So while I feel with time this is possible (with azure servers the sky's the limit and with some improvement on the code it must be possible to just have 6 galleons (and by extention any combination of lesser ships) in stead of the current 4

No 3 Is kind of in my mind currently, we have a 2 man ship with 1 cannon on each side a 3 man ship with 2 and a 4 man ship with 4, if they made a ship in between the galleon and the brig that would be a good place to make a galleon 5 man and that new ship the new 4 man.

If things are changed and balanced correctly things will be OK.

  • @hynieth it's still a pity, when you are online with maybe 5 friends, and have to decice whom will be included in the galeon. honestly just able to have multiple crew in PvE is enough. it will allow to make all happy

  • @teo17 What is PvE Tho? It's been debated so many times but you can't just disable PvP, if they were to go PvE that would take longer to develop then a new 5 man ship or a Join friends in session mode.

  • @hynieth just adding the possibility to play with more than 4, as a multiple crews or just bigger crew is ok for me. i can understand that in player vs player this could make some balance problem. But in Player vs enviroments would not have the same problem of balance.

  • @teo17 I used to think this would be a problem, but honestly at this moment in time the PvP people seem to be lone wolves who just like a challenge and the Multiple ship possiblity would actually help people who like PvE more than PvP players.

I've been on a server with 2 galleons manned by 8 people from my discord forming alliances with everyone we found and honestly mounting an attack with so many ships is such a hassle we crashed into eachother more then we damaged anyone else. (thus we made friends in stead wich is funny if you think about it since it was more like pointing 8 cannons at them and forcing them to hoist an alliance flag)

  • @teo17 sagte in PVE - Multiple Crew:

but for the PVE , that you are close to launch,

did I miss something? who is close to launch PVE?

  • @goedecke-michel i just read it in a news, a couple of weeks ago. i start to believe was just a fake news

  • @hynieth ahahahha amazing!!! we tried to do the same, using the trick of loading all together and raising the mark flag. But it works only one time. we would like to try again this evening but last time we tried was impossible to find each other.

  • @teo17 why wouldnt you do 1 sloop and 1 brig, poor friend that gets left out whoever he is

  • @d4m0r3d that's the problem, the Poor Friend ;-)

  • @teo17 if you had 5 people you can do 1 duo sloop with 1 full brig, then great lots of fun

  • @d4m0r3d How you can invite them in the same server?

  • @teo17 If you make a new friend in the same server you are playing in and the new friend has room in their crew for more players then you or your old friends can play with the new friend on their ship, because it's possible to join your friends' sessions and that way you would have two ships of friends in the same server.

Or the more raw business version - do two forts and exchange the loot for someone's ship.

  • @archaell i work all the day, and i can play from 22:00 to 24:00. if i have to do what you said to play with my friend i will start to have two ships at 23:00.... it is really really fun this game, but also is not a Fast Game, so honestly i don't have time to make all that process. But thanks for the advise, i will try for sure to buy a ship from other players

  • @teo17 you dont, but its nicer than leaving the guy out. or you could go up to another ship befriend them then join there crew and invite the other guy to that ship

  • @teo17 I get that could be a great time with friends but on the other hand many players will just grind gold and which is unfair to the true mode of Sea of Thieves the normal PVP PVE because thats how it meant to play and for us it would be more difficult with the risk of other pirates.
The goal are only cosmetics but they will lose their value when it will become easy and fast to get gold.
If you want a kind of server that you can roam around with selected people and do activities but the reputation and gold wont transfer to the normal character be my guess.
    Other then that no.

  • @teo17 @teo17 I'll point form this.

I agree with being able to change ships without leaving the server. I think this would be great. I think it would have to be a pick a new ship type then scuttle and then catch a mermaid to a new ship type scenario.

PVE servers. Flat out against it. It goes entirely against the core ideals of this game and all of the other arguments.

Make multiple ships on the same server starts to feel like essentially creating a private server or PVE and I'm against it. There are ways to achieve this though. Go pay a crew to have someone join there ship and then get your friends in when they leave. This fits beautifully with creating community. Or get everyone you want to play to join at the same time on separate ships... It's possible to get two ships on the same server. Just throw up Reapers Mark's to check each others locations.

I'm guessing you meant maximum number of crew per ship and once again, I say no. I have done extra people on one ship and 5 or 6 on a galleon is essential unsinkable while still firing all 4 cannons.

If PVE servers are implemented for some sad and ridiculous reason that goes against the entire idea of this game and everything that it was marketed as, I believe that there should be absolutely no rep gain and there should be no transfer between PVE/regular servers. Two separate pirates on each server type and no legend for PVE because, well, its not legendary to get to lvl 50 in a PVE version of this game.1

I think that covers my thoughts on your main suggestions, in a pirate code friendly manner.

  • @daveyjay1984 Clear, but honestly it is a way to see this game. when we play, we don't go against other ships, we just like to make our missions. So for us is already PVE. But i totally understood your position, you like the possibility to kill an attack other ships, like a real pirate. that's why i don't believe there is a big problem to split in two kind of server, for people that like to play as real pirate, and people like us that just have fun sailing and killing some skeletons. you can even give different rewards from PVP or PVE.

On the other hand, buying another ship like you suggest, is not so easy and it takes time. As i said, we work all the day, and we can play from 22:00 to 24:00. Find a pirate that has a Mark Flag, and find a right deal without being killed, is not so fast. So i believe that in future if still not possible to play with all my friends we will change game to something that will allow us to play fastly all together.

    Cheers
