Safe Zone

  • Due to Sea Of Thieves not having any way to pause the game without getting bombarded, I think it would be an awesome idea to add a big "safe zone" island just for players to take a time limit (20) min max time for players to take a break. If players reach the allotted time they receive a "Almond Beard" for inactivity.

  • new account safe zone post lol

  • Maybe create the biggest outpost and place in the center of the map and the idea of the outpost is to make it a trading place and community place where pirates meet each other and so on. In order to make it a trading place, the game needs more resources to be added.

  • for all you new accounts just coming onto the forum, this has been discussed to death. Follow this link to see why safe zones are disliked and a horrible idea.

For all old accounts just bashing ideas on the forum, even if ideas has been discussed to death, Rare will always do what they want (Skelly ship, the Arena) despite what they said before.
So to all new accounts, do what you want, you're not supposed to know what has been discussed or not. And if rules are broken, a Deckhand, a Global Moderator or a Quartermaster will guide you through this. Don't let old accounts discourage you.

  • Press Alt + F4 on PC or Press and hold the X-Box button on your controller and choose quit game.

Then after your 20 minute break come back and just go on a merry voyage.

    There's also friend abuse:

    1. Tell your friends you'll be back in 20 minutes
    2. rejoin friends in 20 minutes.

so according to you, no new accounts are supposed to know whats been discussed, so rare should remove the search function. That's pretty smart there. Nice one hero.

This would be good for bathroom breaks. This game is very bad for using the toilet.

  • Just let people save unfinished voyage maps. Not treasure or cursed cannonballs. Though I would be fine with saving other supplies.

Your halfway through an Athena voyage. You turn in your loot, save your ship maps and exit the game. Walk your dog, eat your dinner, take the kids to the pool, return and start a new game, load your last voyage, continue.

    A few basic rules:

    • Only the player that laid down the voyage can save it.
    • A Majority vote of the current crew must Vote to Save the voyage.
  • What I do as a solo player when I need a break to do something and don't want to just quit cause I still have my voyage going or usually cause I have a massive stockpile of supplies that I really don't want to have to go and restock on a new ship is drive off the map.

Pick a spot off the map that doesn't have a nearby island and sail right off, as soon as you hear the music and the sea starts to turn blood red handbrake turn around. You will be just far enough out the map where it won't start sinking automatically.

It's not 100% full proof but so far I've never been attacked by either players or even skullies out there, never been sttacked by sea monstets or even had storms go out there. Whenever you return from whatever you was doing just sail back on the map.

  • this was discussed a long ways back. most agreed that a safe zone would not be fair for pursuers when gold is on the line. even if the zone were to not allow gold, it is still possible for pursuers whom are just in it for the pvp to camp around the island.

it would still be nice to have a safe place to be social, which is why most agreed that a separate safe hub sever would be a much more fair addition. a place to accept quests, buy items, interact with NPCs, and gather a crew to join on a normal server. all without being bothered by griefers.

  • @saws-n-sins Along those same lines, sometimes I've hidden my ship in one of the larger rock formations and dropped anchor. I'll usually sleep in the crow's nest (safest spot). It's good for a brief break, but as you say...not completely foolproof. It's possible a ship could come along and spot me, but it's better than no cover at all. Remote islands are safer from AI threats, but sooner or later another player will likely sail by. So you take your chances either way.

I do like your idea, though. I may add that to my playbook as well. :)
