Remove/Kick Players Option

  • There is always at least one greifer or long term AFK crew member when playing with an open crew. Most of the time it seems to be a Pirate Legend. Putting a player who is causing trouble in the brig is like giving them a free pass to do nothing and rake in all the cash while you and your mates do the work. Everyone knows putting a griefer in the brig does nothing,. They will stay there until A. You do all the work and sell the loot. or B. They wait till you leave because they have nothing else better to do. The brig is great for messing with your buddies or putting someone in a time out. It is no place for getting rid of those trouble causing players. The system works well for those with 1-2 other friends on board. 3 players require 2/3 votes to brig while 4 requires 3/4. Everyone knows that if you move your mouse or press a button on your controller while "AFK" every once and awhile you can basically sit there and do nothing. There is currently nothing you, as someone trying to play with your friends, can do about it. There NEEDS to be an option to Remove/kick from crew. Some people suggest they be brigged for a specific amount of time before being able to be kicked. That sounds fine, as long as they can be removed from the crew. I am tired of trying to find people to play with on open crews and always finding those greifers that sink your ship, throw your loot off the ship, eat all the bananas, shoot all the cannonballs, pull the anchor, blow up the ship, and so on. That is so common it is hard to play the game with anyone you aren't friends with. Some people will argue that "The kicking ability could screw some people out of their hard earned gold". Yeah, well already people are being screwed because they can't contain and get rid of those people who want to ruin a good time on Sea of Thieves.

What if while in the brig that player cannot gain coin for being effectively AFK.

What if while in brig that player is set status to AFK and after 10 min they are "removed" from the crew and sent back to the lobby?

Those would be passable solutions to the issue that do not require a painful re-work of the game.

  • @swimplatypus7 Thanks for the feedback. Being in the brig and not gaining coin is a nice idea but still isn't drastic enough to have them want to leave the crew. They could still sit there and "greif" in the sense of taking away the possibility of your crew having a 4th active player because they're sore that you put them in the brig.
The second option of those players in the Brig automatically set to the status of AFK would be more understanding and helpful. The brigged player can not do anything but wait till either they are removed from the crew after a set amount of time "10 minutes" or let out before 10 by the crew.
The second option is more useful in the point of giving the crew the power to decide if someone is actually worth keeping in the crew instead of wasting their time and a crew slot. The "Not coin while in brig" idea could also be implemented but still has the possibility of crew slot greifing if it is the only used solution.

Good point on the griefing mechanism in "no coin"; I don't think of ways to grief people with game mechanics.. My cunning only goes so far into finding new creative ways to sink other ships and take their loot.

  • @swimplatypus7 Having to deal with at least one of those troublemakers every time I play makes me well versed in ship and crew welfare XD

  • Make them walk the plank:
