  • @xunknownloverx Yeah this has been pretty requested so hopfully we will see it implemented at some point.
It’s a small change but I believe it would make a big difference!

Maybe have allies names blue. And if they attack you they turn to red.

This has been talked about and I for one hope that they don't ever change the colors.

Being in an alliance is already too advantageous. Having the player names stay white balances it out and allows for other tactics that would have otherwise been impossible. Like espionage tactics and such to happen. I've taken out 3 ship alliances by myself because of the simple fact that no one pays attention to who is who.

They should never change it and it should stay the same.

@XUnknownLoverX @knifelife is correct. This has been a very common request. It makes the most sense. I know people argue about "realism" and the chaos of not always knowing who is who, but this is a game after all. It would be a good quality of life improvement.

    Maybe something like this:

White = Neutral (Everyone else in the world basically. Color someone goes back to when dropping the alliance flag. It would not cover things like when someone drops out to steal away loot or runaway with a fort key. There should still be an element of some risk.)

    Green = Your crew

Yellow = Alliance members (Caution as alliances can be broken and betrayal may be waiting in the hearts of those you trust to work together with you. This way alliance members know who are allies and are not when others attack. Friendly fire parameters do not change with alliance members.)

Red = Hostile Threat (Someone who has gained heat as they have caused you to take damage. Would last for a specific amount of time or the threat dies and respawns, whichever come first.)

  • It's a very good idea !
Like Rare have shown in the Arena trailer, There was different colours on the Tag name of each crew.

I think to allow people to reconise who are in their alliance is necessary.
    It simplify comunication, coordination.

And the day you would a have a 2 alliance battle, this coulour code would help you a lot.

Due to the low probability of creating an alliance (most of the crew prefers to fight), this colour code will be balance.

Pirates of your alliance would have their gamer tag blue to help you reconise them.

  • Love the idea of colour coding allies/foes
    I'm a little colour blind ( seriously.... it's red/green )

Saw this coffee system, whilst not ideal..... ( proper suggestion at bottom ) :)

    alt text

..... Maybe have a tagline under the gamertag "Ally" would be good enough.

Color blindness is more common than some may think. My other idea would be tiny icons which would help with color recognition situations. They would appear at the end of the player’s name.

Neutral = No icon. Players outside your crew with no other status. (Like mentioned with using colors above, it is what a players goes back to when just dropping an alliance flag to still maintain some risk.)

    Crew = Ship’s Wheel

Alliance = Pennant Flag (While in an alliance.)

Hostile = Crossed Swords (Again would only be temporary or until respawning after death whichever comes first, after attacking another player and causing damage.

  • Hope it never happens!

I want alliances to have at least some form of unknown. Plus I like boarding them and watching the chaos as I start shooting at one of the alliance ships from the other ship

  • @xunknownloverx, love your idea, but i think @x-crowheart-x idea will fit better with our gameplay.

  • Keep it as it is. Don't colour code. Read the comments, i wont repeat them.

If u want to know who is your allies, or a quick way to know who is who. It's not that hard. Just tell all your allies to wear a certain item. certain hairstyle. This way all allies look the same. Someone who doenst look like the boatswain sailor with a glass pegleg and red afro hair. Well than u know to take that one out.

And if they dont want to do it. They are apperently not alliance but enemies. Take them out :D

No more sneak attacks than. The moment u swung your sword or shot your gun, u will be marked and all will know. I kinda think that takes away of the conniving aspect of this game.

  • @xunknownloverx I hope this is never adopted. Alliances are supposed to be shaky and not making alliance players readily identifiable plays into that. The true solution is to learn the names of the players you are playing with... easy peasy. No need for dev intervention.

  • @weakdexx I meant more along the lines of if they hit you it would turn.

So if you was just swinging and missed nothing would happen. It would only change if you shot me in the back for instance.

So you will still be able to sneak attack :)

  • @knifelife

Yes untill the moment i take u out. Now your crew sees my name change.

Now i can board u take u out and your crew can still be confused.

  • @weakdexx That’s a big if you take me out ;) :P

  • @knifelife

Where is that custom Arena matchmaking if u need it ;)

I like this idea, but I can also see it turning against you. For example, if they dress like you, then betray you, every time you see a crew mate afterwards you're going to have a split second of uncertainty regarding whether he/she is actually a friend or foe. I for one don't like the idea of being attacked by an entire crew of Ronald McDonald pirates...
