Hello fellow seadogs.
The devils roar is coming up which is going to awesome. Volcanic islands. Boiling water. Cool. But for next edition on the map I would like to see a frozen expansion. Snowy islands. Shipwrecks frozen in ice. Freezing water to deal with. Thoughts.
Devils Roar. Frozen Wastes.
@enginefear It is the upcoming location to the DLC for The Forsaken Shores. Look up the Sea of Thieves Gamescon footage for some details and a look at the new volcanic locations!
@enginefear well it is going to be a new area. So I am assuming that it will have as many islands as the other areas in the game.
@saltyseadog13 I think this is a fantastic idea. They would hopefully introduce new tools for this new frozen land, such as a form of pick axe or something to break the ice. My only concern is, what is to keep your ship from getting stuck in ice, or ice forming around your ship while parked? Visually this sounds awesome indeed.
This was the EXACT same thought I had after seeing the erupting volcano footage from Gamescon! I wondered if the Devil's Roar was to the south of the map, leaving the north open to this possibility.
There is a shipwreck on one of the islands that resembles something similar to Viking longboats. There is also concept art showing longboats and eastern junkers. I am totally for all of this as each location means new seas to explore!
If we ever get frozen waters, perhaps they will introduce other weapon types, like axes. (Not that this is something I pine for.)
@enginefear I heard someone say it's planned to be 2 thirds the size of the current map? No source, not sure if speculation or truth. Thought I'd comment anyhow

I have seen the video from Gamescon and I know that it is a new location. I was just curious about some rumors I heard.
I heard it was 2/3 the size of the current map playzone. Trying to get this confirmed.

In this cold region throw a bucket of water on an enemy to slow them down
@nofears-fun your ship getting frozen in the ice is a environmental danger we would have to deal with just like the volcanoes.
