I think there should be some sort of dice game/card game on board your ship where you can bet gold with other people on your crew as well as other crews. There could be a table with two chairs on the sloop for 2 people to play at a time, and then 4 chairs on the galleon for 4 people to play. This would give pirates something to do while sailing long distances or going slow against the wind. It would be cool if there was also a Gambling rank that you could rank up by winning games to become a master gambler. The Gambling rank wouldn't be part of the grind to pirate legend just something to the side that you could rank up. This would give pirate legends like myself that already made it to level 10 Athena's fortune something else to do. They already have a games tattoo set in the game, so it would be perfect to just add to the game. I feel like gambling is already in the lore, but not implemented into the game yet. Ships could asks other ships to gamble or even anchor at an outpost or island for other ships to stop and gamble with them. I know some people are tired of working together and others like it, but gambling could be in between, you may be friendly with another crew at first, but after you lose a lot of gold due to gambling, you may get mad and betray them by trying to sink there ship, or while your crew is gambling with another ship, you could steal there treasure off there ship without them knowing. people could start betting chests, or even betting there ship for other crews to use. I really, really want gambling, I think it would be fun with friends and other crews.

The idea came to me today too, it's a good one but I think it shoul only be implemented in pubs as a gambling mechanic would need "rules" that only an outpost could ensure.
Furthermore, Rare when they implemented the new faction said that they intended to make the taverns both a special location and a livelier place in the game for every player.
About the gambling now! Let's be honest, pirates all love to boast about the tiniest thing ever just like Merrick when he told us he scared the kraken. Unfortunately, we can't take pirates word for granted and I wouldn't believe any other pirates if he said he can sail faster than me, or if he said he's a better sharpshooter than me (especially if I'm drunk).
Thus, gambles could appear in the game in two ways.

In the one hand, minigames involving NPC and a well filled player's wallet. In sea of thieves the NPC earn their living on pirates back so it would be a lore friendly feature.

In the other hand, a disagreement between two (drunken) pirates wich would usually end with a bet. I think with the emote-wheel something like that should not be too hard to implement only a specific quest creation should be required with stakes taken for the quest reward and a variety of quest could be added (race, duels, sharpshooting, ...).
A faction and even a few achievement in this case would be welcomed as it would encourage people to play arround gambles. Some of the quest could even use in game past content, I'm especialy thinking about a "First one on Marauder's Arch throne wins" bet or similars ideas to keep the past content alive in the future.

I'm for this, at least with dice games (dice are in the intro video even, we should have a pair of dice as a tool item to roll as we like or use in a game). I even proposed 3 thematically appropriate games that have simple rules, allow betting from players and outside parties, and only require players to roll two dice. It would all work a treat. And dice can be rolled on a barrel top, so no need to add tables to the boats and clutter them more, just make a non functional barrel work for dice games. In the Taverns you can have it at the tables.
