I’s scared! I didn’t get to fight the megaladon during THD. I didn’t play last night for fear of encountering a megaladon. I admit, I was like woohoo get to fight a big shark. Now that they are roaming the seas, I’m scared... of being sunk. 😫 I’ll play tonight... maybe... and see how it goes.

@gloog Yeah, but the cannon at the end of Mermaid’s Hideaway didn’t look fearsome either, but it still sunk our sloop. That was back before they nerf’ed cannon skellies and the first few days we played. Haha!

This morning we had a meg attack us and a sloop we were teamed with for the thrones. She wasn't so bad and the lads got a huge kick out of it because they had missed the event. Then we were chased twice. It does seem more likely to be chased than attacked but that was just our experience. I am very confident your young lad could handle meg just fine.
Side note for the scientist in you, the two times we got chased was after I'd jumped in for some barrels. Most likely coincidence, but keep your eyes open just in case.

@dutchdeadschot I think that’s up to you to decide but I will say I’ve see at least two very distinct Megaladon’s since the update...you can tell them apart easily.
@purplemajic I found one, a sloop was chasing me and the vermin appeared between us. I didn't stop, not sure if it attacked the other sloop but it distracted them, it was a monster ally in the high sea.
It is smaller and blue.

The summoned meg was much more difficult than the one they released to the wild, i think 3-5 cannon hits can kill the new one, i havent gotten to encounter the ones they released since THD but im basing the 3-5 hits on a video i saw. Hope this puts u a bit more at ease

Be scared! We were in the same boat (pun intended) this week. Never got to find another crew for THD. Then with a Galleon full of loot we were sent down to Davy Jones locker. I think it hit us once and the Galleon sank in less than 20 seconds.
@sirferret6 Sometimes it is there watching you and you might not notice it. I went to adjust the rear sail on the back of a galleon and it was looking at me! Scared the p**p right onto the poopdeck.
@biter-wylie 😱😱😱😱 We encountered 2 tonight. The first one swam away as we got to the outpost. The 2nd one we fired upon as it circled us. It attacked our sloop 4 times. But 4 holes the first time, 3 the next, 2 the next, and 3 the last time and killed my partner. I kept us afloat.
