    Community: One week isn't enough!

Rare: Okay, let's try extending it

    Community: Y U SO LAZY

  • @mistoes yup game development is lazy.

  • Yeah... my thoughts are that you need to relax. Giving people more time to complete special events is perfectly fine.

Rare is anything but lazy. Patch after patch, they are improving the game for us all as they drop in content.

No one ever Ever said they should make more time for it all were exited for the weekly events its just pure Comfort for them. why would you extend 1 more week when all done it in day 1 and will team up with you ? remember the stuff happened with the MEG?

Its not Rare hyped up as always teased spoke each week about it marketed themselves at E3 with those exiting "Weekly events" for ppl to hear and now changing just like always

And now your life is ruined? Calm down and proofread what you type. That's how upset you are over a video game.

"Weekly events" can be translated many different ways. No way did I think we were going to get a new event every week. Not possible.

Check what weekly means if you dont know the word as easy is that ?
and you know why i am upset ? not becouse my life ruined but becouse companies like that are straight up making a joke with hyping up promising and not delivering what they spoke of. dont worry about me i have planty of other games to play and no you cant translate weekly events by different ways and yes its possible

  • 2 weeks.... it works for me.... :-)

The more time Rare have to pack out the major DLC updates... the better.

Rather than focusing too much effort on putting out a fresh weekly challenge.

Think the major DLC content... is a better use of their time, & for us!

  • @piratecraggy focusing too much affort in putting 10 chairs on the map ? its a 2-4hour work my friend what makes you think they will work more on the major DLC lol they already said they have groups sorted out for the DLCs those weeklies wont change anything

They said "Weekly events" not "a new weekly event every week". Also, you need to understand how devs talk.

But please, go play your other games. Beats whining on a game forum, right?

Its free content. you have no argument here.....

  • Events for 2 wks sounds good to me. Away for work again next week so don't want to miss out. Skellies and boom booms sound fun!

  • Two weeks is a great idea. Not everybody can get on that often; you know they have jobs and real life to deal with. But I think most people can get on perhaps even only once per two weeks. In my opinion every week is too often - it would run stale. Two weeks is a fair balance.

  • @mistoes I prefer the two week time slot. Makes it easier for people who work and have IRL stuff to deal with able to participate.

And also, thrones event was not 2-4 hours of work. The thrones have to be modeled, textured, placed in the world. Code has to be written to detect when two players from different crews are both sitting in them. They then have to be tested. Test cases have to be written. If automated, automated test code needs to be written. Testing needs to make sure that people are accurately rewarded for sitting in the throne (probably automated), that the thrones are possible to reach (if done manually, Marauders probably took a while). etc.

  • @piratecraggy thanks you

No you don't It's still FREE content. They have justifications for this and reasons behind it. If it doesn't mesh with YOU that sucks but I prefer biweekly. Maybe they will have little pittlely things like kill 100 skeletons or something for weekly for doubloons soon.

  • @ve111a Yeah network coding is no joke. The amount of data that devs pack into a single byte to reduce network traffic is crazy. There are a lot of bitwise operations going on and it's not easily readable. Requires good documentation.

You need to breathe lol. It's a great game and will continue to have content that is FREE TO YOU. Like come on, Why are you getting so upset over this? Go sink ships, Collect some loot, HAVE FUN man. That's what the game is about, This is something that's a waste of your energy and won't change anything. This is true and a valid point but we don't know how that was written and how much of that code was reusable.

  • Just because each event is lasting two weeks, doesn't mean we still won't get a new event every week. There is a possibility that they could overlap.

We didn't get one this week, maybe because of the error last week setting everything back a week.

Remember, they still had original plans to push out a weekly event between now and Cursed Sails..

so either they are pushing Cursed sails back 2x as long.. or these events will overlap to get them all in before Cursed Sails.

  • @ve111a all i am upset about is ppl walking with it freely you saw E3 ? how they hyped up and said "we have content coming every week" i dont like liers and i never will and what i see here it always comes to this 1:promise+hype 2:find excuse to change it and not deliver

no I am happy with how it is, A Sandbox pirate game with tons to do and people to kill, That's all i need. Im just happy with any new content, If you have never done any coding you shouldn't talk about how "easy it is to do" Im sure the meg took a TON of tweaking lol.

That's the industry, Things change it's all part of the GaaS. YOu need to roll with the punches.

  • ....I'm cool with bi-weekly.

  • You are expecting that we only get a small thrones like event every other week now. You should hold such assumptions. It appears the skeleton thrones event was designed for a single week. Thus not as much effort is put into it. They extended it a week due to the community asking. And yes, people did ask, contrary to your belief, I have seen many posts about people saying they wished they had more time to do it.

With it now being bi-weekly, I would suspect that would mean more time and effort put into each event. You are assuming they will spend the same amount of time developing a 1 week event as they do for a 2 week event. I think this is laughable. Do you think Rare will sit on their a*s for the other week not developing additional content?

This is going to either lead personel reallocated to the big update teams, or larger bi-weekly events. BOTH of which are good.

Do not assume Rare is seeing this as an opportunity to develop less content..

I can't imagine Rare going into a conference room "Hey everyone, we are now doing events biweekly instead of weekly, everyone celebrate, we only have to work 20 hours a week now!"

  • @mistoes every week woulda been cooler , but they have come out and made the change public for whatever reasoning. i can live with that as long as they stick to it this time.

  • @mistoes said in "Weekly" events are Bi-weekly:

Providing a live, growing service is not an easy thing, and what you fail to understand (especially from a dev who is giving their first go at such a service) is that things are very fluid. This should be quite obvious with many of the efforts they have undertaken, such as reorganizing their production schedule to meet the feedback of the community. I personally think it's great that they see a desire for a longer window and adjust accordingly, and I think it's not only incredibly selfish but extremely arrogant to call them liars for it. Maybe they'll see the data and determine these events need to be a week long, that two weeks is too long. Maybe they'll decide 3 weeks is more fitting. Who knows! It could and very likely will change to some degree depending on how and what they react to.

  • @bambam-bm I don't want to take part, but the fact that the hungering deep dlc take them 2 month to make and was as long as the skeletons thrones wich is a weekly, kinda scare me for the future. I'm sure they are not gonna sit on their ... for a week now we got bi weekly but i can't say the next event is gonna be crazy, even if they got more time. I think the delay and deception about what Rare is giving us, break a bit of trust in some of us. Wait and see
