FREE ZONE OUTPOST
I highly suggest checking out either the Looking For Group feature on Xbox or joining the official SoT Discord and trying to pair up with crews there. I have had a lot of success doing that (in addition to being a member of other SoT community Discords). If you have a thing you definitely want to do, you can list it in your LFG post or on Discord.

i know that was not the point, have a space in the game like lobby with other players, that you can interact with

If others players in game agree with you then what is stopping you from doing that now? It seems if a significant number of players wanted this then nothing prohibits them from hanging out at Golden Sands or wherever to raise a cup and make some music together.
I actually stumbled upon this place already a few times.
I found an area where there is often music playing, frequent dancing and waving. Some pirates even take a moment to chat you up (although there seems to be no language filter) . Some even share a drink (although it’s BYOB with no place to refill.
Pirates socialize for a time and for whatever reason can’t draw a weapon at all. This is a truely safe place.
I have even met some crew mates who seem to prefer this place over the rest of the pirate world, choosing to spend endless hours twirling along while the rest of the crew fights for hard earned gold. But most just stop by, share a laugh, relax for a minute and continue on their way.
Truely a paradise for many in this game. If you want I’ve got a few spare tickets. Approach my ship in game and I’ll help you find it :)
I find it odd how threatened some folks get at the idea of having a "Tortuga" style island lounge area to meet other pirates on a social level, filled with w*****s, music, animated NPCs, games (dagger throwing, etc)...
It would benefit the game greatly, I think. If you sods are worried about someone running there to avoid you getting their treasure, simply make it so anyone who enters "Tortuga" loses any treasure they have onboard. It is considered a social hub.
