    @captain-daedra They are hardly being brought into the game, get a grip. Rare haven't made a big deal of it they have just added it into the game for those who want it and to show support (perhaps they have lgbt people working in their company for instance). You clearly DO care if you are making this post, so quit your little corner of homophobia and ignore it. If you truly didn't care you'd ignore it and wouldn't purchase it - this doesn't effect you at all. But to actually go onto the forum and say I DON'T CARE ABOUT IT BUT WHY.. says something else to me ;)

    I'm not religious but if they want to add religious themed flags go for it, or whatever else.. if I'm not bothered by it I'll just not purchase it like any normal person, but more diversity in a game is not a bad thing. ;)

    I see nothing Homophobic about that statement and I feel you are harrasing the poster by calling them Homophobic...

    I cannot even remember a time when I saw a Rainbow flag being used ever outside of the game, if not in order to provoce, mock or troll people.

    Like by Antifa for example. So I wish it would have not made it into the game.
    My cannons are so ready to deal with this...

    @bran-the-ent 100%, it would make no sense to the game world to have real flags in, maybe you could get away with a blue and white fluer de lys, or a red on white lion, but definitely not a Union Jack etc, might be nice to see ones for the various in game factions, Sovereign, Admiral, Sea Dog, then at least there would be a little less confusion over meaning.

    I think the OP makes a good point though about "ask and ye shall receive". The people spoke, and they were listened to. Congratulations Rare.

    On the subject of the flag though, best thing to happen to pvp since the invention of the cannon as far as I'm concerned, no more looking for trouble, just pop it up and go about my day, wonderful, the idiots all bring their loot to me now, again, cheers for that Rare.

    I do think that country flags would be really awesome! The pride flag is a great start, and they definitely should add more in the future :D

    Im gonna start by saying I'm fine with the flag as long as the rainbow team flying them dont cry hate crimes when I kill them for flying it. I dig more flags forsure so I support adding most of what you asked for maybe not the countries as thats to many flags but I'm all for more color variations and other pirates flags. And as much as yall want to accuse players of being homophobic or anti LGBTQ. Its not always about that.. I just refuse to accept the pride flag which is universaly known in today's society to be associated with only the LGBTQ community and sorry that pushes diversity. so as a universal friendly flag this isntoit for me. Add a flag with 2 grogs like the sails and that will be the friendly flag. bolded text

    I agree with keeping politics separated, but there is nothing political about equality and the flag is not exclusive to LGBT.

    Straight from Rare, the flag represents all nationalities, religions, genders, races, ages and sexual orientations. That’s a LOT of flags rolled into one!

    We don’t need separate country flags, religion flags, gay or straight flags, etc because this one flag represents them all!

    I agree that Rare should make a friendly flag, and I think the Grig mugs is a great idea, but Rare did not say the rainbow flag represented friendless, but rather freedom from discrimination based on age, gender, race, sexuality, nationality and creed.

    That said, regardless of what the rainbow flag represents to many people at the moment, it has held many meanings throughout history and Rare trumpeted their own meaning in contrast.

    If we only believe in the LGBT meaning, we are voluntarily ignoring what Rare stated this flag means to our community, in favor of personal beliefs and politics.

    As I pointed out, that flag has many meanings so claiming there is only one is being ignorant of the truth.

    The meaning Rare posted IS the meaning in our community. Associating any other meaning is forcing real world views and politics into the game and directly opposing Rare.

    @captain-coel I personally don't get why a rainbow flag is so bad. If people are worried that it isn't realistic, then how is shooting yourself out of a cannon, hundreds of feet in the air, landing on the ground and only taking a quater of your health down and getting a broken leg that is broken for a couple of seconds and then it's all better. Just my opinion

    @itsporkchopfu It is the Pride flag. The devs have explicitly stated in videos that it is the Pride flag - it has the meaning associated with the Pride flag.

    Article 1 existed in the game long before the flag. It’s been in the game - as written - from the get go - nothing was added to Article 1 of the Pirate Code with this patch. The fact that they simply reiterated the code when they introduced the Pride flag to the game doesn’t mean that the flag refers to everything in the Article.

    Sorry but its a real life flag with real life meanings the purpose of this flag was obv for that specific community. Example like taking the swastika and adding it to the game saying no no it doesnt stand for that and telling people to forget the original meaning. Sorry for using such a harsh comparison but honestly that's how I see it. This flag was added only for the LGBTQ community. I dont have an issue with it.I associate it with LGBTQ because thats what it is associated with in today's society I'm not talking about a history lesson on the rainbow flag I'm talking about the here and now and how its perceived.

    @bran-the-ent True. But it's optional, personally I hate the save the bananas flag or whatever it's called. So I don't use it. Heck I can't even remember the full/proper name that's how little it means to me/I use it.. but I don't come to the forums to complain about it, this flag is the same, and if Rare do add any other flags I don't like, I won't use those either. If Rare automatically equipped the pride flag on players ships, or painted part of every ship with rainbow stripes, I could totally understand and I would agree with you, but they haven't, they've added options to show support that is all, heck I'm sure plenty of people won't even use it for pride and would just like to fly it as it's a rainbow anyway...

    @captain-daedra I completely agree with you. I hate having political agendas thrown in my face when I am trying to play a game which helps me escape just that kind of thing. For the record I have no problem with the way anyone wants to lead their life or where they come from (who am I to tell people what to do or think?) but I don't need it plastered all over the place wherever I go.

    Rare- doing things like this creates the opposite effect for what was intended; a rainbow flag isn't going to change anyone's opinion, but it will further entrench everyone further into their current way of thinking and create resentment between groups that don't agree.

    Plus everyone knows if you are on a ship for long enough everyone turns gay.

    @angrycoconut16 I’m all for showing support for the LGBTQ community in real life. But, what are our computer generated characters in SoT showing support for, exactly, when we fly the computer generated Pride flag on our computer generated ships in this computer generated world that is not meant to be our own world? What is the Lore? Are the LGBTQ pirates in the game not treated equally in the world of the game? Do they not have access to the same equipment? The same clothing? Are they not allowed to Captain a ship? Do the factions prevent them from becoming Pirate Legends? Is there an oppressed minority of pirate characters in the game?

    I am also totally pro the rainbow flag as it is not only a representation for but more the support of the LGBTQ minority (so you don't show that you ARE gay, but you are friendly with them!).
    As June is Pride month, I think it was cool by Rare to integrate that flag and I personally would think that if you hiss that flag at your ship, you are friendly as all LGBTQ friends I have are really friendly people :)

    For the country’s they need to have a separate section because there’s to many to be mixed with the normal flags

    Just got attacked by a galleon with a gay flag. They said raise your gay flag in support or we will fire on you. So I casually raised my anchor and said see you later. Do we really need this in the game to show support? Ehhh I mean where's the "i support heterosexual flag?"

    It's quite the pretty flag. Prettiest of the bunch I think and I fly it on my boats currently. I do hope a flag with a cross shows up some day, I still think it would look pretty cool.

    I think there should be set themed flags, like a sea dog flag, a sovereign flag, castaway bilge rat flag, something to match the themed hulls

    Themed set flags... sovereign, sea dog, bilge rat, admiral, to match the themed hulls and figureheads. They can be smaller versions of the designs on the sails.

    @e11evenbsouth personally, the only flags I use are white, black, red, blue, yellow and during THD, the shark flag, which has now since become a keepsake. Only reason I fly black majority of the time? It matches my sails. I also use the other colors for certain quests.

    I'd rather rare bring up customizeable flags, which have to be approved by mods in order to get the code for in the game.

Not everything in a game has to come back to realism, this is a cartoon pirate game where the characters eat bananas to magically heal.. if you want realism this isn't the game for you... For c****t sake blizzard recently raised a HUGE amount of money by selling a pink mercy skin for breast cancer on overwatch, let me guess you'd be there saying 'oh wait can we just check, in the lore of the game is breast cancer actually relevant? Has anyone in overwatch actually died of cancer? Does this disease exist in the LORE of the game? And if it does is breast cancer really the most important one?' Yes I know this isn't raising money but they are both fundamentally cosmetics showing support for a certain cause.

    Yes the symbol existed before the n**i sure and same for the rainbow for the LGBTQ pride. but ask anyone today what the flag represents and they will tell you it represents LGBTQ or for LGBTQ pride. Don't deny this as this is an obv no brainer...
    Ask anyone today what the swastika means. same thing..
    Again like i said i'm not against the flag but they both represent 1 thing in today's society and really have no place in sot. Stop trying to deny it and just add more flags to appease the rest of the playerbase or remove it. Pretty simple.
