You don't need to be pirate legend to wear pirate's legend gear.

    I think that this is a very bad mistake from Rare. If you have a pirate legend on your tripulation, you can do the legendary quests and join to the tabern, that's okay, no problem with this. The problem is that if you sell the legendary chest, you will level up the reputation with Athena's and you will be able to buy the stuff from the shop.

    That means, that you can be a new player, and if you have a pirate legend friend, you can look like him. This game was supposed to be a role playing game where you see a pirate and you know if he is good or bad, but with this...

    I don't know what you think guys, but in my opinion this should be fixed as fast as posible, makes no sense that a level 20 can be full Athena's gear...

    Rare, please, do something with this :'(

    I am. But I am also thinking about the 200+ hours it will take for me to get Pirate Legend. Thats usually 4x the number of hours I give a great game.

    Nah, if you've got friends who can access the chests, there's no reason you shouldn't get the rep.

    Why should I care about helping a pirate legend grind and level up their faction if I also wont share in the benefits of their more rewarding and specific turn ins?

    Because I should consider it a privilege that they've graced me with their presence or something?

    I agree. I think that if people take the time to become the best.....It should be shown. But I wouldn't want to see a new player wearing what I have been trying to get for weeks.

    A compromise could be that you can get the rep and gold from Athena's, but you cannot get the special ( cosmetic) rewards until you become pirate legend yourself.

    Yeah, rare was just kidding when they made all those hyperbolic videos about how much your cosmetics would influence people's opinion of you etc.
    It was all horsesh*t - there are like 5 outfits including the legendary one it is totally meaningless.

    @x6diablo I agree with This .... I think about it in terms of high level athletic teams... Only athletes that put all the work in dedication get to gear up for the big game to play on the field (I'm thinking football 🏈) those that are fans and friends can wear similar items but not the same thing as the athlete or pirate himself. .......

    Is this a confirmed thing? If you sail with a higher rep player you can do his higher rep voyage but the game doesn't automatically let you buy the higher rep voyages, so why would a level locked item be different

    Considering how few legendary chests you get and how many you need for level 10 Athena I doubt there would be anyone even close to level 20 in other factions able to use the ghost gear. You'd have to only cash in the legendary chests and quit the server for all other treasure. And it's not even the pirate legend outfit. That's the purple one and that one cannot be used by players lower than 50-50-50. The ghost outfit is the reward for doing Athena's quests and those are specifically designed so that legends can play with non-legends and level up in them. It's not a mistake, it's a design decision so that not only legends have to play together.

    @x6diablo Eh, I see the current pirate legend cosmetics as similar to legendary gear in Destiny - it's something to aim for in the early days, but the thing that will make you stand out is the time limited event specific gear. Most of the player base will hit legendary pirate eventually, so it's only really meaningful in the short term. I wholeheartedly expect dlc to add new factions and raise the Athena's Fortune rep cap above 10, with a whole host of extra gear to go with it.

    Here's my 2 pennies worth...

    I am fine with this, I play regularly with a 4 person crew and I know at least 2 of them are not that far from Pirate Legend status...
    Which more than likely means in the near future I will be taking part in Pirate Legend voyages... this is not my fault that I don't have as much time in the day to level up as quickly as them but as a crew we have enjoyed many moments and adventures on this game together.

    Just the other day members of my crew said how they would have stopped playing if it wasn't for joining up with each other and forming an Xbox Club thanks to this Forum.

    Here's to more pirating adventures.

    I don't care about the legend progress as I get there why I can but just wandering through the game enjoying all the fun and spills on the way and gold and levels added bonus

    The Athena's gear is your reward for completing a load of Athena's voyages. Those voyages are longer and more difficult than normal ones, it's only fair that anyone, regardless of level who completes them is rewarded, they still need a legend to allow them access to the hideout to buy the pieces.

    The legendary set is rewarded to you for getting Legend, only Legends can wear any of it. There'll be more Legend specific stuff coming eventually but Rare are focussing their efforts on content for everyone, not just the 0.07% of players who are Legends right now.

    I'm a Legend and I'm fine with that.

    @x6diablo The ghost outfit isn't legend gear. You do have to be a legend to wear the legend gear. I don't see why this upsets people. Being the only legend in my group means that if nobody else could get these rewards why would they want to do athenas? They're just long, boring, dragged out voyages that are only fun to speed run. The way rewards are currently setup lets everyone play together, I get to bring my friends in the hideout, they get to buy the gear that they earned by working on the voyages. I don't see why this is a problem.

    Ok...old thread but anyway: Why is everyone so upset? You really CAN'T buy the legendary outfit if you aren't a legend...just the ghost outfit is byuable, each piece with the rank of athena
    But I have no problem with this, let them get it, why not?

    I think you should have to be 50/50/50 to wear legend gear and if you have a legend on your ship, using legend skins, once the legend leaves, the skins should go back to default.

    It takes something away from being legend when a ship could have had a legend on it 3 sessions ago, yet it's still sailing around like a legend. You know? Make the legends feel more important.

    It is actually free...when you reach legend status...
    I won't wear it either, looks just stupid as you said...maybe just one part of it...don't know yet, but soon
