Improve combat systems - health bars

  • I have a simple request: Could we have health bars displayed over enemies? We don't need to see actual #'s, but a progress bar to tell how close an enemy is to death would be nice. ESPECIALLY skeleton captains and other pirates.

The health bars (and even gamertags/names which are too easily spotted anywhere if you ask me) should only be seen when the enemy is within a certain range or when looking down sites and within a slightly further range).

I know it's not technical part of the HUD but IDK how that would jive with Rare's minimalist theme.

  • i wouldn't care if skellys had it, but not for other players.

  • I think it would be pretty cool if instead of a health bar on skeletons, you could gauge health by appearance. Bones fly off. The rib cages so the arms can still use the weapons against us.

Yeah I agree with this. When fighting players the unknown of how long of a fight until that player is dead is the adrenaline ramp up I love...and also hate when that adrenaline rush keeps me up to 2am when i get up at 5am.

I think the unknown of how long a fight is going to take is b e s t left as is. (silly forums moderation)

Now the range on seeing a players name is a discussion that could be brought up to find out what is best.

I much prefer this idea :)

I agree with that completely. I think displaying skeleton health bars can be quite immersion breaking - especially when the number of skeletons you are fighting is large.

  • no
    i don't want it
    i don't like it
    I won't support it
it would ruin the atmosphere a bit^^

  • Why would it ruin anything? You can then tell if you're ACTUALLY hitting someone or not. If no health bars then at least make it so that we see something representing that we're hitting them. Too many times I swing my cutlass and can't tell if I hit someone or not. Perhaps an audible "ugh" or something or else a controller vibration? Hell even a color indicator. First person perspective combat is always about having to make and adjustment due to lag (leading your shots, etc) so I feel it would help.

I LOVE the idea of skeletons falling apart to show damage though. Great idea!
