It means alot that you would say that. So thanks.

It means alot that you would say that. So thanks.

Mostly because I am being trolled and flamed like you wouldn't believe on reddit:

Reddit Post of Sneakler being trolled

It is sad because the last 30 seconds of the video makes it very clear I am just trying to help the portion of the community who is struggling in their encounters.

Your support is very much appreciated!

Hopefully the SoT community responds to this and supports you. Even though you are an aggressive PvP player it is also clear that you want others to be good at it as well. I am going to reddit to support you.

You don't have to do that but thank you. Makes up for alot of the negativity I have had to deal with today.

You work h*****n something and people just want to tear you down. I am literally posting an irrelevant youtube video on an irrelevant youtube channel that is not even monetized and still being trolled. It sucks but it's okay. Its Friday!

  • Also, is it possible to just embed the video on this thread? I was not sure as to how one goes about doing that. Any help would be appreciated!

    Edit: I figured it out!

  • I can appreciate the intentions behind this, but the video itself isn't done very well. C-minus at best.
You left in bits of voiceover where you stop short, stammer, and/or reconsider your words. Try doing more than one take next time. Also, on the topic of voiceover...
    ....
    I don't understand...
    ....
    Why you talk....
    .....
    with such long pauses....
    .......
    It feels like......
    ........
    you're just trying.......
    ........
    to artificially....
    ......
    inflate the length.....
    .........
    of the video.
Literally HALF of which is just you coming up with names for every possible kegging scenario. The other half is you showcasing your favorite clips, and trying to pass them off as teachable moments while you gloss over all of the actual instruction. It falls somewhere between Fragvid & Instructional, without really hitting the mark on either one.

Some of the things that triggered me:
"I wish I had put a clip of that thing that would have taken no more than 10 minutes to load up the game, capture, and edit into my video"
"This will kill you after patch 1.04, but I left this outdated footage in because I've done a thing that ISN'T EVEN SHOWN IN THIS CLIP"
"I'm not trying to tell you how to play the game, other than the fact that I made a 20-minute long video telling you how to play the game"

And that's just the stuff that bothered me the MOST. This video is rife with minor annoyances and cringes. The professionalism is so low, that it looks like you didn't even try. If you did, you have a LOT to learn about editing.

  • @DeliciousPack Thanks for the input!

That is literally the way I speak just so you know and also I like to go off the cuff without a script because I don't want it to be rehearsed but I certainly understand that we do not have the same types of preferences of style.

But I must say, I was wanting the video to be shorter, so your crazy puzzled mind is filling in gaps trying to reason with your own thoughts. You shouldn't just jump to some crazy conclusion because of the way someone is speaking. That is the way I speak, and there aren't any clips that were any longer then they needed to be in the video, so somehow coming up with this crazy idea that I speak slow with pauses to buy myself time and inflate the videos run-time is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

If you watched episode 1 and read the comments you would see that some people prefer different things.

I am not by any means anything but an amateur at voice-overs or editing film and I can only try and get better and thanks for your criticisms I am not offended.

The names for the kegs are a joke of course and are supposed to be taken lightly. To consider the different ways of kegging "not teachable" moments I am not understanding that to be honest. They are teachable moments to people who are intimidated at the thought of trying it. It is to show them how there is nothing to be afraid of and to just try it.

"I'm not trying to tell people how to play the game" is accurate because when I talked about voyages people are welcome to do every voyage I was just letting them know if they wanted maximum efficiency that being picky with treasure maps is your best bet.

You also had a problem with me saying I wish I had put a clip of it but chose not to. I had a clip of doing a regular sword lunge from the boat and I didn't make it to the dock. It was a take my word for it, doing the jumping sword lunge gets your more distance point. Because it is true.

Let's just say you hated the video and it made you cringe and leave it there : )

This isn't constructive criticism. This is just someone being rude.

Question for you also. How can speech make a video longer if every clip ends after the moment of action? Hopefully that makes sense to you. Talking slow or fast does not change the length of the video on the screen correct? He narrates the current clip and then the clip ends and he narrates the next clip. I think you either just hate the way he talks, the sound of his voice, or you were on one of the ships that he sank. Or all three.

You should learn the difference between constructive criticism and just flat out being rude and condescending. You just ranted about things you created in your head as Sneakler mentioned.

Please share a youtube video you had something nice to say something about so we know that you have at least not been rude to every person whose video you watched.

    I agree. A great video!

  • @rabiddragoon15 Oh, I'm sorry. I thought ALL feedback was welcomed. Just like the OP said. He also said he wasn't offended and even thanked me for my feedback, so..... why exactly are you trying to shame me?

I posted my criticisms of a video in a thread created for the purpose of showing & discussing said video.

Not one single thing I said was insulting to OP. Pointing out flaws IS constructive in that it highlights areas that a content creator needs to improve upon. I even offered suggestions on a few of my points.

But sure, ignore all that. Paint me up like some butthurt little forum troll to justify your own condescending attitude.

See? I do know the difference between criticism and being condescending.

Just because I said thanks for the input doesn't mean you are not a rude person whose advice is worthless lol.

This segment that I copied...any fair person knows that you could have just said I don't understand your long pauses. You provided no examples as well. You decided to explain it to yourself that it was an attempt to inflate the videos run-time even though there isn't one clip in the video that drags on longer then the action does. Speech cannot increase a videos run-time, the clips decide that.

I speak during each clip and it's on to the next one.

In fact I addressed everything you said in simple terms.

Just because I gave you a thank you doesn't mean your criticism was constructive in any way lol.

Your points literally made no sense.

I explained why past clips from 1.04 are in the video...IN THE VIDEO : )

How hard is it for you or someone to use their imagination? Instead of swimming under a boat with a keg drop it 2-3 seconds earlier.

Leaving a clip out of a tradtional sword lunge to save time (while you accuse me of inflating time)

Criticizing me pointing out a more efficient way to do voyages while also reminding people it's okay to play the game how they want to.

    You are literally crazy.

I need no input from people like you and I work for a living. Youtube is not and will never be my career and I am aware of that. I know the mix is off and I was just trying to help people who are intimidated from PvP and could use some examples of how it's done.

  • @Sneakler The video was fantastic by the way. As far as the insults disguised as constructive criticism that were thrown your way I must say. How anyone in their right mind believes that was constructive is very very confused. Downright rude and disrespectful. The point about clips deciding a films length and not speech was not only hilarious but true and I am glad you pointed that out. What a silly thing to say.

If you are going to say something negative keep it simple. No need to go on a tirade of complaints and insults over someone trying to help the community.

  • Absolutely nothing wrong with your video. Ignore the trollers.

  • the video was fine, some people complain about EVERYTHING...

    Yes they do : )

I'm glad at least a few people appreciate the vid!

  • I enjoyed the video. I'm definitely taking your advice on controller keybindings.

Question: what's your sensitivity recommendation for the controller?

I enjoyed the video. I'm definitely taking your advice on controller keybindings.

Question: what's your sensitivity recommendation for the controller?

Even if you are not a typical high sensitivity player in games, since this is a cross-play title. Would recommend anywhere from 7-Maximum. Only for the reason that a PC player will still always be able to have better "twitch-aim" ability but at least you can come as close as possible.

This is just my opinion of course : ) If we climb a ladder of a galleon on xbox and want to look left and right as quick as possible it might take a full second or maybe even 2. They are able to do this very quickly, so I would definitely try your best on the fastest you can possibly handle. Even if you end up turning it up higher then you like at first, you will get familiar with it quicker then you might think!

My sensitivity is probably at 7 or 8 right now and in most shooters I would play a 4-6. Not sure why I haven't just put it on max though, I still feel like it is somewhat sluggish.

    Thanks for the kind words!

I am in total agreement! I respect anyone that wants to say something like "Sneakler, your microphone is garbage" or "be more picky with your voice-overs they are bad" because I would somewhat agree with them even though I like to go off the cuff and for my recording to sound natural and unrehearsed...BECAUSE IT IS! I am an amateur and never claimed to know what I am doing. But some people are just ridiculous. People don't know the difference between preference and opinion. I had someone tell me my FONT was an issue lol.

That guy was a special kind of rude and it actually gave me a good laugh so it's okay.

  • @Sneakler Does walking forward before you block/lunge give you more distance?

@Sneakler Does walking forward before you block/lunge give you more distance?

I think so. It has its randomness to it though. If you are launching from a flat surface I definitely think it does. But there are times on rough surfaces where its kinda inconsistent as far as distance goes.

  • @sneakler That's a great, easy to watch video with some brilliant hints and tips, I reckon @DrBullhammer might be interested in this as a fellow kegophile

Thanks for saying that Katt! You're too kind. I am such a mess that I kegged someone yesterday and they didn't notice and then I felt horrible and split a skeleton fort with them lol.

  • think all of you videos are Legen.. wait for it... dary ;)
Hope more sees them, cause I'm to lazy to make those videos that gives free advice, an hope some take the "wisdom" you drop, an be better sailors an captains.

  • @sneakler My only criticism is that you didn't put this in the Gameplay Guides + Tips forum section :P

  • @sneakler

Great stuff. I will follow this guy.

But even more important than the great tips is that he is sailing with the same person all the time. That really is the key to this game.

    First off, thank you!

Second, you nailed it! Even though I play with a couple select friends from my group, for the most part I am always setting sail in the sloop with Dubs. The communication is the biggest part. I plan to make some "on the comms" videos and see if people enjoy them or not : )
