I already have Xbox Game Pass, why buy SOT?

  • As many of you probably know, Sea of Thieves will be included in the Xbox $9.99 Game Pass monthly subscription and today it was announced that all Microsoft Studio games will be available to game pass members at launch including SOT as part of their Subscription. I pre-ordered the physical copy on Amazon and already got beta access and the black dog pack but I don't know if I want to keep my pre-order because I don't ever plan on canceling my game pass subscription therefore making shelling out $60 useless. What do you think? Source: https://www.theverge.com/2018/1/23/16922558/microsoft-xbox-game-pass-subscription-future-games-microsoft-studios

  • @wdsnav91 Sounds like you don't need the physical copy unless you want it.

  • Why would they put it on the game pass even before its out? Are they worried it won't be successful?

  • I wish I would have known about the game pass before I payed for it...

  • @gintoki45 All new microsoft studios games will be going up on game pass. It is to get more people to use it.

  • Personally I think the main reason why Microsoft is doing this is to compete with other consoles and to sell more Xboxes. It is hell of a deal after all!

  • Well, that is good news, right? More people will be able to try it during a period of time and decided if to buy it or not for less price.
You guys know the game pass games are just temporal, right? Like one month is there, next month is not. Somebody already explain me, it is always there for you!!! GEEZES! I got it yesterday! I am waiting for those big games now!

I have not seen them do that except for a very few select games this month.

  • Sounds like you don't need the physical copy, but for me I mainly play games on steam and even if I do play xbox its not very often so the game pass would be a waste for me. So I pre-ordered it. And this game is going to be for pc and xbox so for people who play pc mainly they may not have the game pass.

  • @blinxesp He can always buy the game if it does get removed. By then there would probably be sales for it.

  • @fireskull757 it is great this thing of cross to play, seriously. Community can stay together, I play on Xbox and the alpha was great with the PC players together.

  • tossin quick question out there cause i cant find answer, if someone has it on game pass and decides to unsubscribe but then buy Sea of Thieves, would character be lost or is that saved on the xbox acocunt?

  • From this point on every single first party Xbox title will be on game pass from day one, including games like crackdown and the Forza Motorsport series... This makes games pass easily one of the absolute best deals around.

Actually games pass games are not even slightly temporary. Once a game is added to the library it is there permanently, as long as you keep your subscription up to date you get to keep playing the entire library just like you own them, just download and play.

  • @lord-sphinktus no they do delete games as well from time to time

  • Games pass is only a few months old. They haven't deleted anything yet, and they say they won't. I think they might if no one was playing the title.

  • @lord-sphinktus
They have deleted games. None of the games on game pass are permenant. A quick google search will clear this up.

  • I'm curious, how does game pass on xbox work is it per account or per console?

  • @davejc64
    Per account

  • @nwo-azcrack So why am I allowed to play games my son has on game pass when I don't have a game pass myself?

  • It could have something to do with him being on your home xbox

  • @nwo-azcrack So in a sense it is per console as I have also noticed it works with Xbox play anywhere titles my son has bought too, which I can download and play on PC too.

  • @davejc64 Suppose that your son has a game on his account and you want to play with him (You on PC and he on xbox).
You set the Xbox as his Xbox Home (his account), doing so every account on the xbox can play your son's catalog. So if you access on pc with your son's account and he play with another account on xbox, you can play same or different game of this catalog (on pc only the Play Anywhere games)
This works for gold and pass too

  • @altair920 I find it works with me accessing PC with my own account.

  • @davejc64 Ah I didn't know that could work even in that way! Fantastic

  • @blinxesp these games are going to be permanent. They already said that.

  • @altair920 Microsoft don't seem to want to admit it works that way either. LOL

  • @jimmy-voorhees One day perhaps they will remove sea of thieves! Who knows, but it will take a long time in my opinion

  • @davejc64 on pcyou need to sign ingo the store with the MS account that has the subscription, this can be different to the account used to sign into the pc itself.

  • @lumpaywk I have the same account for PC and Xbox.

  • @jimmy-voorhees
No they haven't said they will be permanent!
They said that games will cycle in & out of Gamepass. SOT could be removed in a month, no one knows!!

  • @altair920 that's simply not going to happen. This, state of decay 2 and crackdown 3 are forever titles.

  • @jimmy-voorhees Happy to hear it! Let's hope for gears, halo and other first party too
