Skull Fort Bugged - Waves stopped spawning

  • So myself and my crew took on a skull fort this morning. We went through about 5 waves and took out 4 enemy sloops during. Then at one point, the waves just stopped spawning.

The skull was still in the air. And we spent about 40 minutes searching the fort for a stray skeleton. There were none. We then tried leaving and coming back. When we got back there was a wave of skeletons. We killed all of them... and again, no wave spawned. We spent another 30-40 searching and leaving/coming back and no other skeletons were there or spawning.

We swam the entire ocean around the fort and searched every nook and cranny. No strays and no spawns. We eventually gave up after wasting 2 hours of our lives.

All in all pretty c****y. Has this happened to anyone else?

    bug
  • Yep happened to me the first week of launch . Lots of people not reporting bugs (Xbox scrubs most likely) and it’s really hurting the game . Some bugs that have been ignored :

1.) you can hold down block and charge a melee attack at the same time , thus allowing you to move while charging your melee thrust (big melee pvp glitch / exploit)

2.) you can start off with one of your weapon slots bugged (confirmed just yesterday)

3.) skeleton forts get bugged under certain circumstance (it could be done by a player who knows how to exploit this , so they can stop others from getting the key - for troll purposes obviously)

4.) Skeleton skull quests can get bugged the same way skeleton forts can - forcing you to wait / search for the boss for hours only to realize the island is glitched (you can hear the boss fight sounds but no skeleton or boss in sight).

5.) you can climb out of the sloops window and attach yourself to the ladder , essentially making yourself disappear from the captains quarters (bad for pvp , unless you make an ACTUAL animation of climbing through the window).

6.) if you sail away from a skull fortress with the key dropped on your boat for more than 30 mins the key will disappear sometimes (terrible TERRIBLE bug , please fix) .

Please get on another bug fix and exploit fix patch rare , there’s plenty of work to do (not even mentioning the desync that occurs when getting near a populated Skull fortress) .

  • This happened to me yesterday, I left to a nearby outpost then came back and it was fixed.

  • This exact same thing just happened to my buddy and me. That's an hour and a half I won't get back.

  • Same here. I just alt+tabed out and this is what I found. What do I go back and say to my crew?

  • @shuhac have the entire crew suicide to a barrel. with no players there when you respawn the waves should begin again.

  • @hawaiin-skunk Xbox scrub here ;) Been bug reporting bugs for about 8 months in the TA, Pioneer sessions, scale tests and betas. Also done about 15 bug report tickets since launch :P

    You dishonor me xD

  • @freecellqt We sailed to another island and now we are back and they have respawned. thanks.

I have had issues with Forts......first 9 forts I completed, only 2 had treasure. The others were completely empty. Had this happen again last night for a total of 8 empty forts after completion. I contacted Rare and they simply said "we will address this with a future update" which means I am SOL and they have no intention of rectifying this for me.

I love the term Xbox scrub, only PC users say it. Let's break this down.

Xbox - $600 high end gaming machine that typically lasts 10 years with no ability or need to be updated.
PC - $2300+ for a gaming machine that you are guaranteed to have to dump even more into within a couple years.

Which one sounds like a good investment? I can say this because I play both. Actually I fall into that rare breed of Xbox, PC, and Laptop gamers. But I get all my computer parts at wholesale so it's not too bad. Still way more than my Project Scorpio though. My gaming PC would easily break the 3k mark if I had to pay retail.

    oh....

    1. not a bug
    2. I can confirm this as well
    3. Just talked about this, by my math Rare or S0T easily owes me 150k in gold and equivalent XP
    4. I can confirm this as well
    5. So what? I have killed several people who utilized this by simply shooting through the window
    6. Yep....but who stays away from their treasure for that long?
  • @hawaiin-skunk
very good points as well as skeletons able to shoot through any object as long as the see you(i.e. Boulders, trees, even ships). Also the skeletons have the ability to walk through a player with out collisions but we cannot walk through them?
Side note all of your crew dying at the same time works most of the time but be careful the cannon skeleies will re-spawn as well.

  • Sailing away and back again also fixed mine.

  • I've had this twice within a week lol

    Just sail away and return

  • It's not just skeleton forts but quest islands such as "Discovery Ridge" never seems to spawn soul quest skellies. This has been confirmed many times by several different random crews I've sailed with.
Sailing away and back has worked for us at skull forts but it doesn't work for this particular island.

  • @ca2or Sounds like you have a pretty awful string of bad luck there. I'm curious though, how do you figure 150k? In my experience skull forts give an average payout of around 14k assuming you sell every single thing, including all the gunpowder on the island. Missing 8 forts - which, again, is an unbelievably terrible streak of bad luck - would mean you missed out on around 112k gold.

Rare probably can't fix this for you because there's no way of knowing how many skull forts you did or didn't complete, and anyone could submit a ticket saying they didn't get the reward for one. They can't just pay out for everyone who makes a claim. :/

As far as the key is concerned, a friend and I once held on to a key for over an hour in our sloop playing cat-and-mouse with another ship that sailed up as we completed the fort and camped it waiting for us to come back. They were pretty good, too. We eventually sank them because we were able to sail away and resupply whereas they couldn't afford to leave the fort (when we first got away we stopped and changed our sails before coming back so they couldn't be sure we were the ship with the key), so they eventually ran out of planks. We hauled a*s to the fort, emptied the vault and sailed away just in time to see them on the horizon, sailing back against the wind. We left them a seafarer's chest as a consolation prize.

  • It has happened to me and my friends as well! We left the fort and returned. Fortunately we could continue the fight and got our reward in the end.

    I've had some pay 20k. Even at 14k it's still 112k.

I asked rare how they were going to verify, all they said was they were aware and would resolve it with a future update.

  • @beat-squad-1
    Yep happening now

  • Everyone on the island kills themselves, don't come back in from respawn until everyone is on the ghost ship - should reset. Had it happen 3-5 times now.

  • Yep just happened to me as I was soloing the fort too. My first attempt at soloing I was doing great five waves down then nothing! I've been cheated!

  • @beat-squad-1 This happened to me last night - we did a few waves, then guys just stopped spawning... we had another crew working with us and we wandered around for probably 20 minutes before our crew decided to just leave.

  • Happened to me yesterday. Because of that a sloop that we sank 3 times got back once we debugged the fort and they successfully sank us that time and won the fort...

  • All of you die at once (entire crew on ferry of damned) and it respawns the skellies, or you could sail away from fort and come back that does same thing but is slower.

  • That just happened to me 5 min ago i was so mad because nobody came to it we did 3 waves and they just stopped spawning and i could see like 10 crates of tea and a stronghold chest and 3 skulls. I was mad, i could have been rich and im a starter. uggh

  • @beat-squad-1 There's an easy fix for this, all of your crew has to die (you can drawn or be eaten by sharks) and then meet at the ferry of the damned, then all of you spawn again at your ship at the fort. This happened to me before and this is the only fix there is to it.

  • Yeees I just went through the same thinggggg
