My post was removed from Reddit, and the mods won't say why. Thoughts?

  • Here is my orignal post:

**I know there is a lot of love for this game, but Rare has pulled a "Hello Games" and gone silent. They know they have an issue with content, and while they may be addressing it internally they are not sharing anything with the player base.

/u/denso95 posted a interesting read here. It shows that Rare's plan from the start was to have a good base game (which they have) and release content over time. If that was the plan all along, why not us know? I spent $60 on a game that (at this time) seems to have limited play value. My favorite times in the game are with friends, but they have already burned out on the lack of content.

Can we come together as a group, maybe get mods involved, and ask Rare to supply us with more info? I'm not talking about torches and pitchforks. I'm talking about a reasonable request from a loud community voice.

    Edit:

There seems to be no consensus on this. A majority of the comments have been for me to "calm my t**s". The game has some pretty serious flaws guys. I'm not hating on it, but its not an early access game either. I don't want unfinished content, and I don't want content updates tomorrow, but I do think we deserve to know what they have planned for the game.**

It made the top of the subreddit and was 90% upvoted. Then my post was removed without and sticky from the mods or message to me. I fail to see where I broke any subreddit rules. I was told people here might have some idea as to what might have happened.

  • In all honesty, no one here will be able to tell you what happened to it. The best you will get is someones wild speculation. It would probably be best to message one of the Mods on the Reddit page about it if you want to find out the truth.

  • @shredder-s47 That's my thoughts exactly. All I want is for Rare to acknowledge that they have content issues and lay out their plans to fix it. If it takes 6 months im cool with that, but let me know.

  • @feenox Communication is the most important part of running ongoing games these days

  • Well, since the wild speculation is already starting, I might as well throw my theory into the mix.

It was all due to solar flares. That dang sun threw protons, electrons, and ions at the earth all in the hopes of deleting this one particular reddit thread. I think the sun is working with Rare and the big wigs at Reddit to stifle feedback! We need to organize fight back against the sun and its schemes!

  • Reddit mods will remove posts they don't like the look of, especially if there are too many negative ones. It's simple potluck whether yours stays or goes. My question about brig abuse on the AMA a few weeks ago only lasted a couple of minutes before getting removed.

  • Its probably a conspiracy. You just overturned the first stone of it.

  • @feenox
The team at Rare haven't gone silent, they're busting their balls trying to iron out as many issues as possible.
    Update here - https://www.seaofthieves.com/news/launch-status-update

  • ... you can communicate your constructive criticism here, on the official forum. who cares about reddit?

  • @feenox Well probably because you couldn't be anymore wrong. They've been incredibly vocal/engaging with us. They were recently on a holiday break which lead to 3 days of silence and all you kiddies lost your minds. They literally just announced today that next week there will be a video for their content roadmap to satisfy all of the people who keep asking for it.

  • @blg-strong-dad I think my points had merit. There haven't been any comments (and still haven't) by devs that address lack of content or an overly repetitive quest system. I think those are valid questions to ask, no?

  • @feenox
This was put up by the devs yesterday

    Content plans

We hear and understand that people are keen to understand what our plans are for updating Sea of Thieves, beyond the top experience fixes. We are currently in the midst of adjusting our roadmap based on feedback we have received since launch, with a ton of planning meetings continuing through this week. We plan to release a video next week updating everyone on how we plan to evolve Sea of Thieves moving forward. We totally understand that people want to see this ASAP, but the critical thing here is to have the right plan that allows Sea of Thieves to grow in the right way.

    Full article here.

  • @kotetsuchiha This was put up by the devs hours ago, not yesterday. And it still doesn't address anything. I'll believe it when I see it. Not saying that to be negative, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just window dressing.

Edit: I realize that it says 4/4 /18 on the page, but it was posted around 3-4pm EST.

  • Before I paid my $60, I watched at least ten video reviews.
Those video reviews made clear what content was last seen in Beta.
The entire history of gaming is that un-beta tested content at launch is minimal (if not negligible).
Logically, all the content I was going to get with my $60 "at launch" was in those reviews.
I am totally satisfied with the truthfulness of the reviews. Most were negative. The one positive review said that the game was great to look at so get it. Seriously - the review said to pay the man for the art alone.
I'm happy. I did my due diligence.
Rather pay $60 and "hope" more content comes along than jump into a Free-to-Play game that requires a minimum investment of $100 in the first week just to meet the demands of your guild.

let them make their video next week like they said and tell you?? maybe they would rather put content into the game the players want to see rather then have put the content in and then players not like it if by next week the video doesn't satisfy I'm with you 100%

  • the dlcs are going to be free and they plan on expanding the game. They already have plans for pets and micro transactions for specialty skins. So yeah the game is limited for the moment being. But later on if the player numbers stay with the game to keep the servers running they want to add more factions and voyages. Pretty much what I'm saying is. Is that it's like Christmas with no set date you don't know what's inside that present and you don't know when you're going to be allowed to open it. just chill drink some grog and bang out some voyages.

  • Clearly you weren't there for the NMS drama; this is nothing like that.

SoT devs have already patched parts of the game, improved upon game mechanics that players wanted, and have been updating us pretty regularly... and this is only 2 weeks into the game! Additionally, there haven't been any big lies that they stated about the game.

The NMS developers straight up lied about the game being multiplayer, went silent within a couple days of its release and never patched or said anything until MONTHS later, and the "surprise" endgame literally just restarted your game.

Sorry... Not the same in the slightest.

  • @ogilikpatoez You didn't read my post at all. I am not asking for anything immediately. What I said was that the game was flawed and they had yet to address it. When I made my post the most recent update had not yet been made, but it still doesn't address core issues with the game. None of my criticism had any ill intent behind it. Seems like people have issues with criticism everywhere.

I paid $60 for a game that came out in March. I don't mind waiting for extra content, but the base game IS lacking, the quests are repetitive. It needs to be addressed. Christmas was release day. I don't want Christmas in july.

  • @feenox
Haha. I live in the future, so this was yesterday for me.
But, the important statement is, they plan to release a video next week regarding this issue.

In the meantime there are some good threads where you can suggest the content types you want to see, as opposed to simply saying there isnt enough content.

Start with this one. with over 3600 replies, I doubt Rare will ignore it.

  • @feenox you do realize that the game was released 2 weeks ago right? Cause that's like having Hanukkah and then demanding to celebrate Christmas. And I wasn't digging on your criticism I was just making a statement thats all lol. You just got to realize they need to fix the core problems before adding more content. Cause you'll just pile more problems on top of the ones you already have.

  • @kotetsuchiha I've contributed to plenty of similar threads on the subject. I was looking for people to ask Rare as a voice what their plans are. I feel slighted as a customer that the game we were told was a "stress test", and not representative of the game, was by and large the game.

I paid $60 bucks (partially to get into the beta, so I guess buyer beware) but the game we got is short on things to do, and Rare knew that during beta and up to launch.

Maybe they had a gun to their head to get the game out on time, maybe they thought people like myself would be silent, but I promise you it's people critical of the games faults that will get it fixed. I'll continue to be critical of the game until they do fix it, or until im fed up and I just quit.

If you paid me to paint your house, and I told you it would be done today, would you be upset that I didn't finish the back half two weeks later?

  • @feenox to be honest I would be more angry if it looked horrible and I already paid so I could careless how long it takes you... Cause I ain't paying you by the hour just as long as it gets finished

  • @feenox If you paid me to paint your house, and I told you it would be done today, would you be upset that I didn't finish the back half two weeks later?

Yes but with this example you would need to prove that Rare promised something they did not deliver. According to the blurb on Sea of Thieves on the Microsoft store, where I personally bought it, they delivered everything it says on the tin. Whether what is in the tin is to your liking or not is down to personal preference.

I would argue that they seem to be addressing your issues and that it is impossible to say that they are not addressing it with their most recent announcement because their most recent announcement is about a video that will be out next week. We have not see the video ergo we can not determine whether or not it will address said concerns. However since they are specifically launching said video to show us their plans that have changed due to feedback, I would argue it is likely it will address said concerns.

If the video drops and it has nothing of worth in it, their plans for the future being "More of the same", I will join you in criticizing Rares intentions. However until they release said video we can not know how they have reacted to the feedback and what plans have changed DUE to said feedback, both positive and negative.

As always it is pleasant to read a well thought out post, whether I agree with it or not, that does not resort to the use of attacks on people who disagree with you. So while we may disagree, I have respect for you, good sir.

  • @feenox Hello Games pulled a Hello Games because the preposterous hate bandwagon of the community was asinine and they let the work do the talking. And so it did.

So annoyed by the populist sh*it talking against No Man's Sky for no reason.

  • @Feenox
I agree being critical is a good thing.
The original complaint in this thread was that there is a lack of communication reg content.
The game is out just over two weeks, and in those two weeks (both short due to public holidays) the devs have released two updates, one specifically addressing player complaints. There have been several video releases and news releases explaing that the devs are focusing primarily on server issues and solving bugs.
The latest update specifically says they will talk about tje roadmap for content in the next developer video. Which is due next week.
The Devs dont post on the forums, but they shouldn't.
They also dont address every issue st once, and they shouldn't.
But to claim a lack of communication is disingenuous.

I agree we should be critical, but it needs to be done constructively. Point out issues. Offer suggestions for content. Complain about bugs.

This is not addressed at you personally, but the majority of people posting about problems are saying the equivilent of this game s*x they offer no improvement, suggetions and most offer only a vague example of their problems, or fundamentaly fail to understand the game; ie. solo sloop is too hard

I am glad you are contributing to the discussion in a helpful way, but try to remember Rare is a small team they will take time to address all the issues and they wont speak on them all at once.
The most important issues are not content, but stability of the game right after release. A whole lot of new players brings a lot of new problems; see brig abuse and spawn killing; server stability issues and bugs that are turning up.
As much as I, and everyone else, wants content. These issues unfortunately have to take priority.

  • @lifewcoke 😂👌
