After hearing about AFKing problem with the gameI decided to give it a try and see what could be done by leaving the game running for hours over night.
Attempt #1: I decided to do what most AFKers do and hide myself on the boat, I did an emote such as Sleep or Sit and put an elastic band arround the right analogue stick to keep my character active. I watched for a while.. I noticed that asoon as the team found the character they were quick tonplace it in the Brig. However this allowed my character to not be kicked from the game as far as i could tell but also gave it the rewards the team had gained. There wasnt much profit in doing this 2-5K gold.
Attempt #2: After the research of the previous night in an active conversation on the topic of the problem, I decided that the best next thing i could do was to hide myself on an island and AFK doing the same emote/analogue system found in most games, I climbed a rock slightly offset from an Island where i couldnt be killes by NPCs but also wouldnt be found by active players. The teams which joined the game didnt find the player though if they noticed I was missing they couls of placed me in the brid, problem being you need all of the other teammates to vote. However my character managed to last the night until an XBOX Insider update cut it short at somepoint. I managed to gaim 10-12K for hat night.
Things ive realised:-
- being placed in the brig does NOT stop you getting a cut of rewards.
- you can afk safely in too much of the game world without being found.
- if you end up with a team of 4, onw if afk, onw has no mic... you will struggle to brig the afker.
Ideas: Allow a Captain option where one of the players in the team is designated Party-Controls. KICK, Mute, etc. However this will be hard to implemen t as it could be abused. Kicking prior to selling of items etc, Though if you allowed it before the activation of a quest then made sure that ingame or not the players named on the quest start interface are rewarded regardless (could also be abused.)
Big problem, hard to find solutions.
