keys of raids

  • it seems wrong to me that after killing a crew 12 times and being more than an hour there fighting the crew we managed to take the key to the cave killing the boos and run to another cave because that crew had returned to the cave and once When we arrived at another cave the key opened the door but there was no loot AFTER MORE THAN 1H killing the other crew because they respawnean on an island 20 m from the raid

  • Are you saying you took the key and opened a different fort?

  • @mr-crack-man yes

  • There is only loot on the island the key came from

  • @wevuss yes but i dont know please read this post https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/45683/respawn-od-ships

  • @naxooo200 The key will open any fort. There is only loot in the active fort.... This is all on your group for not opening the right one.

  • @ibmayhem yes but we could not return to that island because we had killed the enemy crew for more than 1h and they did not stop respawnear 20 m from the cave and they were returning without stopping to the cave in less than 5 min it is impossible to take the loot

  • @naxooo200 right. thats a respawn problem, which has been discussed 100+ times on the forum already. if you kill a team while you have the key, you have enough time to get all of the loot on the ship before they get back. we've done it a few times now. The respawn sucks. But you cant just take the key to any fort and think there is going to be treasure in it... then people would ride around with keys all day

  • I think his problem is more or less the issue's of boats respawning too close to the forts when they are active. As well as ships spawning way to close after they were killed. Instead of 1-2 islands over if you sink it should send you across the map.

  • @ibmayhem
Why have the option to put a key in any fort at all then? I agree with you, but they should then make keys unique to forts. And spawning is spawning, let’s hope they fix that too.

  • @titus-imperius8 totally true...

  • @ibmayhem Yeah, exactly this. I told him this in the other thread he created about this but clearly he has an axe to grind.
    And the sea gets saltier....

  • @ibmayhem the respawn would have to work in the following way and that is that every time you kill another crew your respawn is with a greater distance every time your ship is sunk so you could also fix the problem of having time to lootear the cave

  • The flow of the first 3 posts in this thread are hilarious

  • Why would you take the key to an inactive fort and expect a payout, avoiding people entirely?

    That'd be cheese.

  • @tre-oni because people return without stopping for more than 1h we have been in the cave killing them and killing the boss and it is impossible that after a battle in which we win we can lootear the cave when the enemy in less than 5 min is there again

  • @titus-imperius8 (... so... one time we chased someone for their key for 2 hours. we finally found it, they merged servers and the loot in our fort disappeared, but a new fort popped up... we opened it immediately and took all the treasure) ((side note: you can see if there is loot in the cave by looking through the floor above it))

  • @khaleesibot please read this

  • @ibmayhem
I think that’s a really fringe application in the defense of keys opening all forts and it appears that the number of inauspcious server merge times is less than the amount of new players that opened different forts and were stumped.

Ideally there shouldn’t be a server merge that interrupts a fort, nor keys that open vaults to nothing. It’s easy to fix both of these issues, they simply shouldn’t exist.

And I now know about the board trick, but at the time I made this mistake (and perhaps I’m a bit one-sided, a 2 hour goose chase for a key with another galleon and my sloop) I was more worried about the key not being able to open the fort than there not being treasure. Why have a mechanic that has the potential to remove all the reward from a fort grind? Or smart pirating by fooling the opponent and making off with the key to different forts in saftey?
