@touchdown1504 I do get it, I havnt personally run into that problem I'm on a pretty good run with forts atm, but it's the rush to get to level 50 since it seams almost impossible to do without fort raiding left, right and centre

In sea of thieves its uber easy to avoid to fight other players if you have a minimum of awareness and ship sailing skills you can see ships miles away , you can outrun them and out manoeuvre them . you can avoid combat at all time if you wish to do so ... the only situation where you can be forced into PVP is into the forts Skull clouds events and without the players threats it would be overwhelmingly exploited for loots by PVE only players and the value of these events would become useless and totally stupid
Also if there was PVE only servers , peoples would griefs others and wait to steal the loots from those who did the events withouts been any possibility of been killed or sinked , it would be a total nightmare ... peoples would be able to get into other players ships and steel loots and you wouldnt be able to do anything agains it ... this is a receipe for griefing festival ...
This game is design as is so enjoy it as is .. and ask for more contents more events , more Ai chalenge and more PVP events as well so you can have a different and fun experience ... regardless if you manage to secure a loot or not
Lets be PVE/PVP players who enjoy boths
Um, obviously OP doesn't have kids. So what OP is really saying: it's okay for a 17 y/o to hunt down and harass 13 y/o kids and take advantage of the age difference. This games PVE/PVP needs to change. Some families play this game with their kids and have zero desire of leveling up because it's about the experience with their family.
Face the facts OP, families play together because of the experience not "to get free loot".
Wake up OP. Rare needs to implement a soft PVE mode for families with much younger children to enjoy the experience of sailing around on a pirate ship with their parents, slashing down skeletons and collecting farm animals in cages. There's nothing soft or weak about catering to both sides in a respectable fashion.
In closing, my household includes a 5 and 6 year. We as parents finally found a game every can enjoy. Until .... 17 y/o Bootleg Bandit8 starts harassing the kids, throwing their caged farm animals overboard, and sitting below deck to spawn kill them. How childish, or empty can one be to pick on a 5 and 6 year kid. Rare needs step-up make this right because I can assure, if nothing happens, incidents like this have potential to further on social media.
OP - You'll understand one of these days when your child is old enough. Until then, try to think about the softer side of life where certain people don't really care about loot, sea reputation, amount of skins; all they care about is seeing their kids happy.
It might be the time to realise that you dont play a pirate game with your kids if you dont want your kids to experience the life of a pirate where outlaws and ship attacks happen ,
Instead of trying to put your kids into a " safe space " you should teach them to be smart , to be on the look out for potentially hostiles looters , to show them how to maneovres the ships and how to escape an atack or avoid it , and how to play properly if they want their treasure to be safe ... How to spot dangers from distance and avoid hostiles
But over all , to not be p**s by defeat and loss , and to learn from that experience ... you obviously have no kids and find excuses for your own bias

@volksturm Never play on a PVP server seems stiff and warranted in a game where levels have zero to do with weapon power. Not only that, there are no skills that are based on level. So in theory, why would bother mentioning something so ... superfluous!?

@stew360 I see where you're coming from but I don't agree with you on PvP avoidance being easy, especially if you're purely a solo player. On the open seas if you're aware of your surroundings you are correct, it is easy to avoid other players. As soon as you step off the boat though it's a different story, especially if you're turning in a large haul or stopping at a larger island.
The last time I played I turned it off out of anger because I was docked at an outpost turning in treasure when a crew of 4 spawned in to the same outpost and just murdered me unprovoked. I called them a bunch of a*****s and turned the game off while I was waiting to respawn. I lost 5 treasure chests, none better than a Marauder chest thankfully, but really I was more p****d about the time I had lost.
I just want a "safe place" where the PvP is not on, that's all I'm looking for.
The game was designed from the ground up to be a PvP game. The first bit of text when you click on the 'about' section of the main website says...
'Sea of Thieves is a new type of multiplayer game that delivers all you need to live the free-roaming pirate life. Whether adventuring as a group or sailing solo, you'll encounter other crews... but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?'
Nowhere that I can find does it say that you can play the game in a PvE only environment.
There's also a heap of content via youtube etc... outlining the gameplay.
I do not understand why players have bought into this game and expect a PvE only environment.
If you really want to avoid getting attacked then you're going to have to work hard to avoid other players. It is possible, but requires patience and cunning. However, that's all part of the PvP experience 'will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?'
@blazingschlag Seriously, and well-spoken. What we're seeing is the demise of literacy due to Cortana, Alexa, and other devices that spell for people. Fact: you can't spell "drop-out" without the word, Xbox.
@stew360 I disagree. I don't have the time to put into the game that others do. I am looking for a casual, fun experience with online friends. It's horribly frustrating when you are on a 2 man crew and every island or outpost you dock at, there's a full galleon there to out number you and steal all your stuff.
How is it fun to spent the hour or 2 you have to play the game getting killed over and over again? If you want a competitive experience the game has that, but there needs to be a balance for those not looking for that too.
Disagree with the idea of a PVE server. It dilutes the player pool and creates a scenario that will slow overall game progression and new feature development as then RARE would have to look at two communities and their differing needs.
This game was never sold as a PVE game, nor is it a PVP death match game as is. I have played a good bit and have yet to run into "griefers" I have been attacked several times, and lost a few times too.
That is just the nature of the beast. But it was not a hidden beast. RARE was very OPEN about what the game was and how it would be played from the beginning.
I am saddened that a lot of people did not research the game before purchasing it. Hopefully some of you got it on gamepass and aren't out some money.
As it stands this game really only has a couple of pillars of play. PVP is one of them.
If you dont want to engage other players then run. If your server is haunted, relog and get a new one.
Also as an aside I am sorry for those of you that have been camped or had people say rude things to you. You can report that behavior and XBOX LIVE will handle it.

I dont find the game to be ruined as it currently is. They were clear on PVP and what it would be from the beginning, and it has unfolded as designed. I am sorry you did not read about the game you purchased to see what it would be. Take it as a lesson. Next time a game you feel excited about is releasing perhaps you should research a little instead of making assumptions about the level of PVE content.

@stew360 Getting robbed on the high sea us what it is about. No issues there. The outpost camping is lame though. Why play a pirate game and stay on land. Not very pirate at all. I get that it is done by unskilled trolls. But it wasnt intended to be that way. Thats the only part that annoys me. If your gonna steal my stuff. Steal it like a pirate. Not a land lubber.

This game loot is base on a Items system in game that can be pick up by anyones at any momments , if there is players who follow you everywhere around and steal your loot what can you do to stop them doing so ? nothing you couldnt kill them , you couldnt prevent them from stealing your keys , ressources , plank , banana cannon balls and chest and chickens etc.. they could embark on your ship and steal your most valuable cargo ... can you sink their ship ? No you cant can you kill them with the chest in their hands ? nope you will be grief to a level you prefer not to imagine but this is exactly what will happen
what then ? you will ask the entire loot system to be change specifically to accomodate you ? you will ask to get instant reward instead of having to secure loot to the merchant ?
In another word you want to change the entire game you get that do you ?

Psst. Sea of thieves is rated "T" for teen. I am not going to criticize your parenting as I let my p*****n son access teen content as well. But it is hardly fair to ask a community in a game designed for young adults about fantasy piracy to play nice because you want to let a child 1/3 of the recommended age play this game.
If you wish to expose your child to adult and young adult content then it is your responsibility to explain mature concepts to them. It is not our responsibility to censor our behavior and help raise your kid. If you dont want them exposed to it, then suck it up and play something age appropriate with them.

what about freshly spawning into the game, and theres a galleon full on downing your ship when its unmanned and just spawned? yeah im sure griefing was deffinitly advertised
or how about just causally sailing somewhere, and a ship sinks you..meh no big deal right.....second time you set back out to your destination, and that same ship and crew is there and sink you again without you retaliating...........so go back a 3rd time to try get to your destination, and yet again the crew is still there waiting knowing full well you have nothing and wont attack, but again still instantly sinks you without a second thought

ive played a shittons of this game and i havnt yet seen one time a " outpost camping " beside hippies playing music and dancing ...
thats said having pve servers will lead to loot stealing to the extreme peoples will get into other peoples boats or forts and will get the most valuable loots and nothing can be done to stop them since friendly fire is turn of and " everyones " become friendly ... pve elitist demands this game to be a totally different game
The loot item base system and cargo hauling in this game is incompatible with the " pve only aspect " since players could invade ship and steal cargo and there would be no way to stop them ... its a horrible idea and would require the entire game and game mechanics to be totally change wich is terrible

Being polite is free. I am sorry you got spawn camped guy. But that behavior can be reported via XBOX LIVE.
If you find yourself being sunk over and over again change servers. But coming here and being rude because people dont feel the same as you wont solve your problem. the PVP is by design, and no matter how much you cry about it or how rude you are to others, that remains unchanged.
I hope you find peace with your purchase or find a game that suits your playstyle better. I am also sorry you are not having a good time. I am having a blast with the game currently and wish you were having a similar experience.

Actually I sad I would not criticize YOUR parenting, as in call you a bad parent and tell you how to raise your children and what you were doing wrong.
What I did do was talk about my parenting and try and correctly manage your expectations as to the communities role in raising YOUR children.
