Getting your loot back after a fight

  • My friend and I were sloopin'... we get in a fight and we both sink each other. We had TONS of stuff. So, we go back to that location, and our loot is floating in the water. However, there was no prompt to pick them up. They could not be recovered. I think it is fair to retrieve your loot again if your team remembers the location. Just me? Is there a timer? Or do they automatically despawn after a certain amount of time? In my eyes, chests should not be despawning AT ALL. Fights are going to happen, and it's for the loot. The loot needs to be there. Any thoughts? Any intel?

    Thanks!

If you did swim after them and they werent "pickupable", it seems to be a bug.

  • @soopavillain420 the issue is the prompt for picking it up isn't appearing when you go up to it.

@beattywhite I had a similar issue the other day where a skull and a chest were visible in the water, but when we jumped in to get them we couldn't interact with them.

Treasure does appear to sink after a set amount of time, so there is clearly some kind of time limit to collecting treasure loose in the ocean. However I think that as long as you can physically see and get to the treasure you should be able to collect it.

  • @tzeraph That's a sigh of relief – that it's a bug. We had 4 Captain's chests on board and we lost all of them because they were not pick-upable. At first, we thought maybe they got away with them, but we sunk them as well and they were nowhere to be found. And our chests were floating in the water, lonesome and waiting to be reclaimed. RIP

  • I think its a bug. Your client probably does not have the updated location of the treasure, where the server says it is, and therefor can't pick it up. You could probably see it in the right place and pick it up if you relogged.

That bug obviously is a big deal and should be addressed. And I personally think loot should stick around for a very long time (60+ minutes)

  • It’s a bug. I’ve never been in the water with a piece of loot and it not offer me to pick it up. We did have a skeleton fort key that bugged and wouldn’t let us pick it up. It prompted us too but it was like a few of the cabins in the skeleton forts that are bugged when you try to load a canonball. Sorry to hear about the bug.

  • Me and my cousin had this exact same issue, We got into a ship fight, Both our ships had been destroyed but I survived near the island. I stayed near out loot(about 12 skulls and 4 chests) to keep track of it in the water, but when we tried to go back and pick it up, no prompt to pick up the loot that had sunk to the bottom, we could only pick up the 1 chest that was floating at the top. Not sure if its a bug or its supposed to be like that but its kind of lame, especially if you survive, we couldn't even grab there 2 pieces of loot that were at the bottom as well.
