Comparison with evidence that xbox HDR visuals are better then pc at max settings 4k with no HDR

  • so they both can run up to native 4k at max settings, Xbox just has the addition of HDR

which PC does not, and that is what makes all the difference
here i have 2 screen shots

    1st is using XBOX

    2nd is on PC

Both using the exact same TV

Now take this with a bit of salt, as i cant recreate each image from PC and Xbox in the exact same place/conditions
as i have no idea where i took each from, but i did my best to try and atleast get it to be mostly the same

alt text THIS IS XBOX - again only diff is HDR is turned on https://imgur.com/GUyjJEp

alt text THIS IS PC - only diff is there is NO HDR https://imgur.com/a/EDDKM

to those who don't believe that pic is @ 4k mythical settings.. here let me rub it in your face and prove you wrong

  • for some reason the image imbed pics don't work, so i just posted the links

  • with imgur you have to use the forum share url with the i. in it.

  • @lucid-stew i have no idea how to use that site

  • on Imgur, when you hover over the image you uploaded, an arrow will pop up in the upper right hand corner. That's a pull down menu. Pull that down and go to "get share links". You want the BBCode link. When you put it into the forum image link, you have to take out the image markup tags to get it to work.

  • i did it lol, images now working

  • Part of HDR, is you can't actually show HDR in pictures, unless they are HDR enables photos, and they have an HDR enabled device as well.

But TBH I'll take unlocked framerate over HDR. Even though I have an OLED with HDR.

  • @nihilent yea higher fps is always nice

but as for this discussion i posted, its purely about which does graphics better

I'm not talking abaout smoothness of fps or any of that, ONLY graphics and visuals

and Xbox does it better is my point

Did they finally fix the issue where PC was capped at 60fps?

  • well number one they are slight different locations and pc and Xbox has a screenshot function. load times on PC is 400x faster plus Xbox is locked to 30 fps and on PC im running at 200 fps on max with a 1070 GPU. p will post pics soon.

The Xbox looks better due to HDR, there isn't really a comparison, but the 30fps is the hinderance.

You mean the output is better because of HDR. Graphics wise pc should win alone in texture, shadow resolution, higher framerate, better view distance and so on.

But yes, HDR will look better ^^

  • @kashaarafall i will have my buddy that has a xbox one x take a screenshot at the same time i do

I play it on PC with mythical settings and the game looks great, but you can take the picture at the same time and not get the same shot because lighting/shadows is key because it hides blemishes or makes textures pop. Without HDR, PC won't look at good, but it will play better, but both look fine.

  • @moogle-mogg FPS/Smooth gameplay is definitely part of graphics. Otherwise why not just play at 5fps maxed out on your integrated laptop GPU.

There's also a bevy of other features that PC pulls ahead on. But I do agree that HDR is awesome!

  • @nihilent just go watch the gamers nexus video on SoT graphics on youtube.

  • How come there's less detail in the PC shot? Was it set to Mythical?

Because Console has HDR, PC does not(Currently)

yes everything was on max setting (mythical) for everything

but HDR will just flat out be better looking on the device that supports HDR

  • @kashaarafall I get that, but the texture quality looks better on Xbox. Could be because they're in different locations.

The textures look better because HDR causes things to pop better.

  • @moogle-mogg Cool. Thanks for the comparison. Might have to finally invest in an OLED.

  • I'm a framerate guy myself, but I can be picky about visuals and I think both look fantastic

  • @sir-rhavi I mean I don't care that much, as it's obvious what the trade offs are to anyone who actually cares and isn't trying to console wars. But Power scaling is generally 1:1 with Tflops nowadays. Which means a PC with a similiar GPU and CPU as an Xbox one X will have roughly the same performance. Say something like an older AMD 6300 CPU and a RX 4/580 for instance. Beyond that it's the limitations of the title itself in terms of options, and HDR. So sure HDR might matter far more than everything else for some people, but for others FPS/LOD etc matter more.

As far as the video he mentions LOD differences (Better on PC), extra features for PC etc? What am I missing? Outside of HDR, the benefits definitely seem to be in PC's favor, as is normal. Although relatively speaking, the only meaningful difference is LOD/FPS.

As far as framerate, well that's up to you to decide if it's an important factor. It's just one of those odd elements that affects gameplay as well as what I'd consider graphics. It would be cool to get an option for 1080@60fps on Xbox One X, or 720@60fps on Original Xbox One. But I don't know if the CPU's can handle it. They tend to bottleneck the GPU at those ranges.

The games visuals are stylized in a way that require very little overhead, and it's well optimized all around. I mean it works on pretty much anything. It's going to hold up visually for a long time, they did a great job.

  • can hit over 400 fps easily on my rig the visuals are stunning loading times near zero. met a ton of xbox players with nothing even close

  • A Xbox v PC p****g contest how interesting. LOL

cool story, i wasn't discussing how many frames you get

if you could read properly then you would know this post is comparing the VISUALS of the game to one another

  • @moogle-mogg are you honestly gonna compare some box not even worth 500 euro to a machine designed to display games to there true potential nuff said.

  • @legendarypikka

Hehe, looks like the $500 box is doing better xD

  • @legendarypikka no, I'm not going to compare, i already DID compare

and hey, that $500 box looks better then my and your $4000 pc

and for some box not even worth $500, you should feel ripped off that your mater race pc doesn't even support HDR and yet this cheap thing can and looks better

  • They both look good, and that's one of the great things about this game.

  • @moogle-mogg In your dreams mate, I'm not saying consoles will never catch up they are a far cry from the low end let alone high end machines when it come to GFX. Some shoddy pic prove nothing there not even the correct resolution.

  • @legendarypikka what, what you are even on about resolution? both of the screen shots are in game at native 4k

  • @moogle-mogg If you think that second pic is what native 4k on PC looks like then god love you.

  • @legendarypikka if you think that second pic isn't 4k then your flat out being ignorant just because you cant accept that some small $500 box can output a better image then a pc
