Why is there a sudden influx in greifers?

  • Today i've joined 7 lobbies and every time i've started to play we go to do a voyage only to have someone try and sabotage the ship. Be it dropping anchor as soon as they can, messing with the sails, shooting all the cannon balls, dumping chests overboard etc... It's just been non stop this afternoon.

Last game we brigged the guy and his excuse for trying to run with the ship while we're all on land is that he wanted to sell the single chest we brought onboard! We had 3 more to get from that same island. No point in running back to port every chest you get 1 at a time.

I was looking forward to running my 20-30k voyage runs. Maybe a fort or two inbetween but it's beyond a joke now.

    /rant over
Sorry just a little tired and looking to spend a little of my free time making alot of money with a crew that works well IE: working together to raise/angle sails, raise anchor, search for chests etc...

  • It's the first weekend on full release and with gamepass...

  • Maybe try playing on a sloop? Only 1 other person, less chance to hit trolls. I've been mostly playing on sloops, and only ran into a person like that once.

  • @mrtrendall
Make some new SOT friends and start sailing with your own crews.

  • ok, dont crucify me for saying this, this is just an observation from what I've experienced since the 20th. The Xbox players, and its not hard at all to tell who is one, are the worst. Not saying a PC player is an angel, but the squeaker griefers seem to be far far far more prevalent on the Xbox and all their wetoddation that goes with being 14 and insecure while needing "look at me" acknowledgement in some way, even if its negative, attitude.

  • Stop randomly joining matches and group up through the official SoT Discord. Only remedy I can think of for this.

  • If you are solo queuing into 4 man galleons this is bound to happen. It's is unfortunate and I'd recommend finding a club or clan to join where there are serious players. Also, try queuing into a small sloop, I personally have never ran into a bad team player on a sloop.
