I've been really excited about this game for a long time, but coming into it I've had concerns about what end game content will offer and how progression will work. From everything I've read, progression = aesthetics; being able to purchase better 'looks' with your clothing and weapons. I wasn't overly excited about this, but I was like "hey, at least you still have to earn it".... and here I am day one looking like blackbeard with a gem encrusted peg leg.... so now I feel like I've beaten the game before I've run 3 voyages because I've got the best "gear" and cant progress any more.... yikes!

- lucky you... im begging for that set and still havent received any code... even if i did the pre-order in time...
- there are and there will be tons of new items/sets to unlock... if you think about the boat style its just 70k for the paint... there will be tons of things to do... just give the game 1 opportunity dont be in hurry.

It's not in my inventory... can't find it anywhere, looked at every vendor, chests and ship.
There is 0 end game. You can experience everything this game has to offer within 1 play session of a couple hours honestly.
I am not complaining about it, but DO NOT confuse yourself and assume there is any type of progression or endgame..... there isn't.
Even the Skeleton Forts that some may have assumed were endgame ( like myself ) are nothing more than a 15min battle with waves of skeletons.

Have you fought with 2 other ships in a storm over a Skull Island while each crew has a hard time not sinking while the fort is shooting and you maneuver to shoot each other on your 1 play session?If not, maybe you haven't experienced everything in this SANDBOX game.
how many times will you encounter a situation like this? anyways, it is only a situation and it is also pvp, which does not suit every player. some like to play the hide and seek-game and what will there be left for them?
honestly, there is nothing to do except grinding gold for cosmetics. All my friends were hyped by the game and community rumors about 10-25% content before release etc.
and I guess it is because they are intelligent and patient enough to wait and dont fall for any pre-order bonus, they are laughing about the game and its lack of content now.you can see the interest vanish away live in most streams... guess, there will be people left in the game, when the hype is gone, but most will temporarily maybe come back, when new content is being introduced. and if the first patch wont be satisfying, they will stay away for the second. it is already dieing :(

I just wanted to say that there are several situations like this, not that you should go for that especially situation.You say their is nothing to do but grind gold. Well for me the fun in the game is to find those unique situations I can't find in any other game.
It's a sandbox game and I play it like one.
@barnacle-remson That isn't content however, those are just experiences that randomly happen. While I am sure those are a blast, it doesn't change the fact that isn't endgame. It's just the stuff that happens organically from throwing a bunch of people into the same area.
I have had my fair share of ship battles over locations and just for fun, but those are simply the things that happen while sailing around. What we need is something to aim for, the cosmetics are not good enough honestly because they are too cheap, and you can collect an entire ship look and outfit in a weekend of play time.
After you have decked yourself out and your ship.... what is the overall goal at that point. If the point after that is simply to rinse repeat, fine.... but they need to accept the fact this game will become stale for 75% of the player base in less than a month.

I think one of the mayor problem is players expect a game with several aspects to play it, especially if it comes to an open world game.If I think about the start of world of Warcraft they hadn't a pvp system, just one raid for the endgame and lots of bugs lags and server queue. Since that time the game was growing and getting better.
Now every game which is not equally good as wow(which has a long time to grow) is just bad and gets abandoned by players.
Sea of thieves is not a mmo but is juged like one. Now we have the first week and dooming the game already?Have you ever thought that their is no endgame jet because you are not supposed to go into endgame content after 4 days of playing?
Just play the game have fun and sail the winds in this awesome sailing simulator.
@aluo7 as far as I know the only endgame is becoming legend but no one really knows what that means.... I know it unlocks legendary quests but thats about it.
Me personally Im okay with that, the best time I have in this game is chilling, horsing around playing with my bro and sis trying to make friends along the way.. BestBuy, got the code from them.
End game is to become the pirate legend, which will give you access to unique ships parts and cosmetics... plus apparently according to rare their is one even after that.
