    I have stated my dislike for the IPG in many ways and so have many other people, even though all of these complaints, there has been no response from Rare.

    We need to be told that Rare is working on a Character Customisation Editor and that everyone will be able to reset their character with this, without losing progress. (Unless they don't want to change their character)

    People's complaints =

    • There have been many people upset over the lack of creativity in the IPG.
    • The horrible spawning rates of characters that no one chooses.
    • How because of the IPG everyone has the same character, or the same few.
    • Bugs causing character's hair colour, scars and other features to change.
    • All Women Models are taller than Men. (No Equal Height for Men)
    • The Length it takes to choose a Player that isn't complete rubbish. (People are still choosing after 2 days.)

    The Trailer Characters are cool but they are not from the IPG, they are specifically selected and made for the trailers.

    Look at these characters from the trailer and you can see the undertone of Adventurous, Devious, Slyness and Cleverness these characters have. They have so much expression through their faces, their appearance, their design is perfect.

    What we got.

    Most of the Characters are boring, they spawn many features that just don't fit together, and this is the problem, you have to spend 2 hours on the IPG spinning the carousel and hope that you get a single character, with features that compliment each other and even if you do, it tends to be a character you personally are not interested in playing as.

    I wanted a Devious, Evil looking, slim, slightly scarred, black eye liner wearing Pirate almost like the 3rd character on the trailer shown above, I couldn't find a single character that remotely shared that appearance and I know Rare has the technology to make these characters, and they do sometimes spawn, but its way too uncommon from the IPG.

    Suggestions:

    Allow us to fully design a Character (Adding Scars, Tattoos, Makeup)
    If you are worried that players aren't going to have scars or marks, here is an idea.

    Let us make our character, then run them through a scratch, tattoo randomizer to add marks and tears to our characters.

    Bugs - The IPG has many bugs...
    Characters change drastically in-game, the lighting also can confuse the eye. There are countless threads talking about how the Number ID's are changing.
    Example:
    They choose a ginger character and then spawn with black hair.
    They choose a white character then spawn with black skin.

    The Statement that Ted Timmins have said is Ironic.
    Ted Timmins: "Normally in a game I would spend 2 hours doing loads of different sliders, and I would probably get the nose right, and then be like ah screw it and do whatever."
    Players: "I have spent my entire day trying to find a character"

    Please Rare - Work on the Character Editor and Tell us you are!
    I am a loyal fan and I will stay with this game, I want to be apart of the community making this game better and more suited to everyone! I know you guys are working really hard and we all appreciate it.

    Maybe Rare doesn't think it justifies a response or development time at this point? Perhaps you're just part of a vocal minority and the lots of people are totally happy with it?

    It might change in the future, and if they're going to note your points, they will have done so by now.

    I took about 30 minutes to do my character. Hav four different favorites saved in the end. Had four really interresting characters and it was tough to decide.

    I love the system.

    I had no problem picking my pirate, mine isnt perfect but then again I dont know what my perfect pirate would be so I dont really care.

    I do agree however it would have been quicker with a male/female and skin colour (im not racist) option

    If you are still re rolling a character after 2 days you need to see a doctor. I mean seriously. I think that would qualify as a symptom of a possible mental health issue. I'm being sincere here if anyone is torturing themselves this way please seek help.

    They did respond to the criticism prior to launch and gave their reasons why they like it. For me personally I spent 30 minutes navigating through the slow IPG only to settle on a pirate I’m not entirely happy with.

    I’m disappointed in it for sure but they aren’t gonna change it at this stage. I don’t get how none of the developers questioned it. They only just managed to get the lock in feature ready for launch. That was never their intention to be added. It was quickly added in to somewhat appease the complainers. Imagine how much worse it would be without it.

    I thought the IPG was great. I spent 10 minutes finding the right look instead of fiddling for an hour with something more detailed.

    As for myself I didn't care much about what my character looked like. I just picked one after less than 5 minutes of browsing, if even that. I feel like the clothing is what matters the most, not the body build.

    Though I hope they will add a way to reset the pirate character while still keeping progress, in the event that people regret the character they chose.

    @jamiethe1egend I think they should of just gave us all a random pirate if that was the way they wanted to go. I spent almost an hour looking for a pirate that i liked and ended up settling for the first, old/brawny hybrid I got despite not liking him.
    Customization was fun in the betas because I tried to match the Pirate I got (I spent 0 time choosing.) With no customization options just give us a few outline questions M/F heavy/thin Old/Young and random pirate at launch is better than IPG IMO.

    I spent over 10 hours (I am serious) in character creation on the 20th, and didn't have any mood to play once I had made my character, which I'm still not satisfied with.

    I hated it, it has easily been the worst character creation experience, and the longest one in my life - just thinking back on it vexes me, I want to see character re-customization and with actual control over my appearance. In a game which sole progression is attached to cosmetics, the fact that we're forced into these characters which are not really ours or us leaves me baffled, it's completely contradictory.

    It has to change, this is not worth having 4 ''unique'' looking pirates in the Legends Tavern over, absolutely not. Hopefully, the harsh reviews will brand these words into this product with a hot iron, as our previous feedback has fallen on deaf ears.

    Actually, IPG wins.

    To be fair, I spent like 4-5 hours spining those pirates. I started the game 3 times, made a few gold to try hair variations, then deleted my characters to create a new one as I was not satisfied. But in the end I found a great pirate with a nice look, and I have to say I wouldn't have made it so pirate-looking if IPG didn't made it for me.

    Don't you think maybe there should be an option for those, who would enjoy the time making a character and actually can't get lucky with the RNG to find the character they are looking for, to be able to customise a perfect one for them?

    You are right that half of the players are completely fine with it and don't really care.

    Majority of Players have accepted the fact that the IPG is it.

    But there are a lot of players, vocal, active and loyal players such as myself, who still are not happy with it, and we are trying to tell our story, so that we can make it better for everyone.

    Will the players who are creative and want to make their own, being given that opportunity really bother you if you are fine with it? No.

    Why shouldn't there be an option for both? Those who aren't creative or don't know what they want to be able to choose one from the IPG? and those who have a creative and visual reference in their head and know exactly what they want, but can't get lucky with the RNG just to either Filter or Edit it to appear straight away?

    The IPG needs work. Simple as that.

    And I haven't even started with the bugs,

    Body Parts Changing.
    Hair Colour Changing.
    Skin Colour Changing.

    • These little things can make your "perfect" character,
      the complete opposite. I am glad some of you are happy with it.
      But don't take away the fact that Character Editors are far better and far more fun and easier to get your perfect pirate.

    @senilegold "Character Editor" Will never happen. Many things that Developers say what will never happen, get added if requested enough or needed enough. The fact that they have stated they plan to add more the the Character Creation anyway such as Tattoo Changing, Scar Changing, Make-Up Changing and Hair Colour Changing. I won't be surprised if there is going to be a way to fully change your character.

    Players have said that the PVP wouldn't change, but they have changed the PVP more times than anything else in this game such as Hitscan to Projectile, Respawn Distances and Punishments, Ship Engagements and much more. They already have changed the IPG because of complaints, so don't be surprised if they add more options.

    Yes there has. They added the ability to lock characters you might want to pick, allowing you to continue to look for others without losing them. That might not have been the response you wanted, but it's still a response.

    I think you mean "I would like to be told...". Myself and many others don't need anything of the sort and would rather they focus on their current priorities of fixing bugs and service issues.

    That said, the ability to change your pirate without losing progress would be nice to have in the future.

    @jamiethe1egend There are more important things in the game that the devs should be putting time money and effort into. I understand creativity and if you wish to express it try some oil paints. They're wonderful.

    Spending half a day or more to get a "perfect" character is a sign of a mental disorder or addiction. They've already tried once to help you all and it wasn't good enough. I suspect if they give you all another inch you'll all just ask for another mile. I think there will always be a list of things stopping you from getting your "perfect" character.

    And a lot of the bugs have come from the IPG? Imagine getting to level 30 and then your character changes. One of the most problematic bugs is the Character Changing Bug.

    You would've know but I guess you pulled a TL:DR.

    I went in looking for one thing and came out with a totally different thing. My character is awesome and something I never would have thought up on my own. I like it

    @jamiethe1egend It's laziness on Rates part and it's being sold to us like it is some sort of cutting edge design philosophy. Falls in line with other systems in this game, that were designed with the same lackluster attitude.

    Ever answers the fan boys give, boils down to a less is more argument, to defend Rares laziness. It's really sad.

    IPG is awesome and refreshing from the standard handsome boy girl sliders in every mmo ever, stop demanding stuff like this when there are more important things to do.

    I hear a lot about players wanting the perfect character. I don't want to see perfect characters in this game.

    Spending 30 minutes creating my character I do know how much variety you can get from the IPG.

    You're not supposed to get the perfect chatacter - you may have to live with your blonde hair, if the rest is to your liking.

    I wish more games had fun IPGs instead of character creators. Everyone will have a flaw or something they would not have picked themselves. It's brilliant.

    @hillswitch I do agree, I think there should be a player editor and then a scar randomizer after you create your character, then you have a character you like with scars and the little details that make it pirate but I like the cuts and scars and would add that to my character, its just how long it takes to find a character you like and when you find it, you realise the height is too small, or they don't have teeth, or they aren't exactly what you want but you are exhausted clicking the new pirates button so suck it up. I also dislike that women are taller than every man character on the ipg, like why cant we get tall guys? :/

    Have to agree with op, while the idea behind IPG is great ... it would have been nice if we at least had been able to pick a skin color or gender for the system to roll pirates out from.

    I used 2-3 hours finding one i was just "ehh is fine" with.

    There really needs to be a way to change pirates without losing progress... I don't even wanna play because of this one stupid rule. You want your games story to be told by the players right??? Then why be so limiting, the game does that enough w/o being frustrated at YOUR OWN pirate!... 🍌🍌🍌
