Xbox stuttering/frame rate issue?

  • I am having this issue on all three of my Xbox's, and it only happens when I am actually moving. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, power cycled modem and router, power cycled the Xbox...all of the usual stuff. Wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue. It's nothing that makes the game unplayable, but something that shouldn't be happening.

  • Exact same issue here on a brand new One S. It makes the game unplayable for me as I just get thrown around half the time and I know it's not my internet as everything else is fine.

  • Oops double post

  • I was noticing some last night, really seemed to happen when I had sword out..Like you said, didn't make game unplayable

  • @sugarist
I personally rarely get any problem with stuttering on my Xbox but I have an Xbox X not an S.

  • Happens to me now and then, am running it on the xbox one x so i dont see it being a hardware issue. Issues will most likely be ironed out over the next few weeks. ( touch wood )

  • What kind of monitor are you using and what resolution?

  • @zalavaaris Three different televisions.

Glad to see it isn't just me. BTW using two original Xbox One's and an S.

  • @sugarist It's frustrating for sure. Sounds like even more so for you.

  • @sinnin Sure is, sometimes it's fine but mostly it's just bad and it's disappointing because it makes me not want to play.

  • @m-flinster That's what I am thinking, and hoping too! =)

  • If it's the problem I'm getting on PC then it's lag, my ping goes up to 1000 sometime, the best ping I've had is around 60-80 ping...it got so bad before I lost total control of my ship and then disconnected losing all progress on my chicken hunting quest and even the quest itself was gone (also my gold counter is now at zero!).

I hate that you lose all quest progress, even more than the lag spikes. I also hate that you lose all of the cannons, bananas and planks you salvage and even the gun I prefer with each new session, but I digress.

  • First Xbox is on the low end hardware for this game. It does run smooth on the Xbox x. 2nd it's most likely due to internet lags because of all the players and will clear up in a week or so once people start to get bored.

  • @sinnin 3 TVs at the same time? Can the xbox do that? If so that's pretty cool. Maybe that's causing some issues? That's a lot of pixels.

  • @zalavaaris No No No, it happens on three different consoles that are connected to three different televisions.

The issue is entirely related to Instance Latency.
You might get lucky and be in an instance with (up to 16) players with Low Latency Connections., in which case the experience will be silky smooth.

If on the other hand you're thrown onto a server with a handful of Brits, Americans and Aussies., well expect there to be noticeable Latency Spikes that will APPEAR as if you're getting low Framerate.

Now what's more to note is this isn't being caused by the Player-Latency with each other. Rather what it's being caused by is the Player Database Server., you might've noticed when you unlock an Achievement for example it can momentarily hang the game (for those seeing them unlock that is :p) and cause a series of Latency Spikes.

Issues like this will be ironed out over the next week or so, likely with a new Game Build that disconnects the Framerate from Server Calls., as no doubt this was an oversight (easily done) given the Scale Test never really pushed the Live Servers to their limits of Automatic Scaling.

Wouldn't latency lag cause rubber banding? Low frame rate is usually different from latency lag, especially if it's consistently low.

I have really bad rubber banding.

    That is for sure latency

  • its a lag switch just had pc players admit it been chasein them for last 4 hours we board them drop the ancher and shoot them point bank in the face with blunderbuss and litrally they turn round and 1 bang you the creators of this game need to make separate servers to stop this issue as it is ruinin the game play for all xbox players also ive played this game from day 1 includeing the beta and I have neva seen lag like this befour

  • I installed the game on Xbox so my wife could play it with me. I have been playing on PC since the game came out. My rig has a 1080ti with a 7700k OC with 16gb of ram & m2 drive.

WOW I tried the xbox version and I have to say it's terrible. The frame rate is awful this is not a network issue because my wife and I where connected same time and my PC was running fine. I even logged off just to make sure my network wasn't overloaded and the xbox s still had noticeable frame rate loss.

The xbox was hooked up to a Samsung 2017 4K tv using game mode. I myself could not even play it my wife was fine with it but I guess once you play with over 80fps a drop to 30fps is very noticeable
