Kraken vs Sloop?

  • I’ve come to understand with the kraken in the game I know you can defend against the kraken as the gallion, but what of the sloop? Can the sloop defend against the kraken, and if so how can you defend against it?

  • offer it tea

  • There is no way, you will be the bait for the other crews XD

  • @jamiethe1egend oh oh dont forget the crumpets, tea and crumpets uk style :) or a bottle or whisky if you are scottish like me :)

  • It has been said more than one ship will be needed to take the thing down, so no, a sloop with only two people will not stand a chance against it. At least not alone. Gonna need some fat galleon friends to sail around and help you.

  • @fal-blackflame Im going to be hunting it on my sloop, Im looking forward to the challenge, win or loss :)

  • @uvg-reign

I'll certainly try it. For practice, if nothing else.

  • probably fish bait for the kraken

We can try together!! if not then sympathetic pirate hugs all round xD

  • Will definately be giving it a crack

  • Give me a rowboat, me cutlass and some rum and I'll give you some fresh calamari by morning.

  • One galleon cannot defeat the kraken, rare has already said defeating/ defending from the kraken will be a multi ship endeavor. Any time I see someone struggling with the Kraken I will be coming to their aid.

  • Oh man, if it takes more than one galleon, I can see a lot of betrayer happening. Someone will troll the other galleons while they are focused on the kraken and possibly ruin their attempt.

  • @gholin Not much else to expect when people of all ages will play it..
Don't forget trolls are mostly kids... :P

  • Play it a tune, Kraken loves a good shanty.

  • @uvg-reign

Nothing like painful dismemberment by a Lovecraftian horror of the deep to bring pirates together. :D

  • There is an incredibly easy way to defend the kraken, just offer him about.. "Tree Fiddy"

    Who gets that reference^ l**o!

  • @call-blocked

Nobody said anything about that dang loch Ness monster!

  • @fal-blackflame ive brought this up in other posts but pigs and chickens the npc tells us they are scarier than any kraken perhaps it will scare it off.

  • @starquest hahhahahahah! All the sudden this girl scout boarded my ship, i had to buy some cookies. I asked how much and she said, about tree fiddy. I looked up and it was the dang ole lockness monster!

  • @call-blocked But I just gave it tree fiddy last week!

  • My only concern is a bugged out Kraken flying onto outposts lol. Hope they tested it enough. New player exits tavern right into its mouth. "Hmm sea of thieves is a very dark and slimy game. This looks nothing like what I saw on youtube."

  • from what they said I think the difficulty for escaping the kraken will depend on your crew size but killing him will need much more than 1-2 people. So I guess you shouldn't worry too much about escaping him but killing him and getting the treasure that he will drop (or whatever he drops) is another thing.

  • @starquest They haven't shown any part of the kraken's body other than the tentacles (although some of them have mouths I think or I'm not sure what exactly that's called watch the trailer and tell me if you know what that's called) and they made the water turn completely black which is probably to hide the fact that the kraken will actually be just the tentacles. That would make sense since rendering and animating the whole body seems unnecessary and quite heavy on your system.

  • @svetli97

But that wouldn’t make sense... so you’re saying that if a mate decides to jump overboard, all he or she will see is floating tentacles amongst the surface of the water without a body? Rare is quite fond of Detail; and doubt they’d do such things.

    But, we will see.

  • @svetli97 they have concept art of the kraken with a body on reddit. Also its called a beak, if its squid based then its a beak. Though the bones on kraken fall suggest it isnt a beak but a bone like jaw structure. They wont have any problem modeling and animating a full bodied kraken.

  • The sloop is more agile, so getting out of the murky water should be easier.

However, there is a reward for defeating the Kraken, and for that a sloop will need help; more help than a galleon would need.

  • @cappjacksparrow well I also hope that I will be able to see the whole body when I dive underwater but as I said they might decide that it is an unnecessary detail.

  • @starquest maybe.. I guess.. let's hope it looks and plays awesome!

    Don't you mean.... Krak? :)

  • @revan790 haha aye ;)

  • @cappjacksparrow from what i remember the water around the kraken will be inked so you jump in the water and you wont see anything(possible drown from the ink)
