So the title of the thread should say it all. If I select a pirate that I like on Monday but on Tuesday I want to look different is redesigning my pirate possible or am I stuck for life with what I selected on day one?
How often can you redesign your pirate after you select one?
Aging system ? So if i Choose a really Old one, in a year it might die and i can change it ?

Really? Cause it seems to me they put a ton of effort into their "Random Pirate Generator" system for us players to only see it once...

As for chosing your pirate, as it stands you get one shot, pick one and that's your pirate till the end of the days.
My bet is that with (confirmed) microtransations, they may later implement something you can buy that lets you pick again.@xcalypt0x It will be like all the nintendo dogs and tamaguchis... after a year All our pirates will die and we will all be sailing togheter on the Ferry, With no Mission and No Loot!
@tedimshy I hope for a microtransaction for one more "character slot" so u can make another one once you have everything and are a pirate leggendary captain in the wait for new content. Like in many MMO so you have one Main and an Alt character :D
@Vipor51 You will be stuck with the body shape, gender and ethnicity that you picked with the generator forever.
But everything else you are free to customize as you like and prefer, such as clothing, peg legs, hook hands, hair, beard and eyepatches. So don't be afraid to pick a pirate from the generator based on the hair or clothing.Jumping in real quick to clarify some misinformation.
Yes, at this time, once you select your pirate through the IPG, you will not be able to "re-roll" or modify your "base" character (body type, skin/hair color, face, etc.). You will however be able to customize certain aspects of your character such as hair and facial hair styles, hook hands, peg legs, etc. While it has been mentioned that we may eventually see our characters age or scar over time to should time/adventures had in world, this has not yet been implemented in the game, same with customizing tattoos.
Also, there is no form of "perma-death" for characters either.
In the future, we don't know if Rare will allow additional characters, or the ability to alter your character's base look, but hopefully for many players this will come at some point.

@knightx13 So, what your saying is, I need to pick a pirate who looks the best to me when they are butt naked.
Since I can't change tattoos, I gotta be able to see em in the IPG. Can't be choosing a pirate with clothes on.

@xcalypt0x Essentially for now, but likely tattoos will be a customization option, much like hair styles, in the future.

There's some weird information floating around in here so I'll try my best to clear things up.
Okay - SO here is what we officially know so far:
Once you choose a pirate using the IPG you will NOT be able to reroll a pirate. The biggest choices here are
- Gender
- Body Size (Height/Weight)
- Age
You will be able to change things like :
- Hair Style
- Hair Color
- Hooks
- Peg Legs
- Eyepatches
No word yet on tattoos and scars. We'll have to keep our eyes open!

@Armament-Jay or is it not? Do we have any information 100% viable on the hair color? Right at launch i mean. I understand later we probably will be able to change.From what I remember reading, we will be able to change hair color!

I love this idea, .......But the older you get you turn into a crew member of 'The Flying Dutchman' and can sail underwater??
I know it probably isnt a popular opinion. but i really like the idea of not being able to customize your characters features directly. or be able to change it.
i feel like it makes your pirate avatar a bit more of a defined character.
with your stereotypical character creation alot of people end up with pirates that look basically the same most people dont take the time to go through each part of the face and body and just pick a default template and barely change it.
