Add crouching (Poll)

    Me and other players that I've been watching are missing a crouching mechanic for those moments where you have to hide from enemy pirates or deviate from cannonballs almost hitting your head.
    A lower viewing angle can also be useful for taking perfect screenshots of your friends.
    To represent that you're crouched you could see more of your arms and see your legs crouched looking down, safeguarding a clean screen interface.

    Definitely a fan of this.
    Crouch could also hide your name plate.
    Trade off could be slower walk speed while crouching.

    @jacksonwallop Can't agree, name plates should always be visible. Maybe visible in a smaller range when crouched, but never hidden

    I was also surprised by the lack of crouch, not for stealth reasons but simply because it seems like such a standard feature of first person games.
    Also I got stuck under a pier while drunk at one point, and found myself trapped by a chest high stick which I really should have been able to limbo under IMO, hahaha

    I'm a bit confused when hitting ctrl on pc my character moves super slow "CANT CONFIRM" but my buddy said it looked my dude was trying to be stealthy. Not sure what it is all I can confirm is my dude walked instead of jogging. "Maybe it's a RP walk for PC players idk...."

    But it means more modeling and coding. I doubt that we'll see it anytime soon.

    I agree that crouching should not hide your nameplate, you raise a good point though!!

    It would be useless for hiding, and would just be used to avoid damage then.

    Edit: The nameplate should only appear if you are out of sight then, 'easy'. That's why the underwater nameplate issue is interesting because it asks the question, can a certain amount of water hide you from sight? I don't mean to highjack the thread...

    I use the sleep or sit emote as a ghetto crouch mechanic lol

    @franzborg there is no reason to use crouch. Everything in this game is designed that you don't need to crouch

    @franzborg just not needed. I have managed to get on other people's ships with no problem at all using the mechanics in place today. Never seen a need to crouch.

    Make a pool. The "lock-on" on the controller was lift off by a pool! Democracy will fix pioneers mistakes!

    Feels strange playing this sort of game without crouch. Baffled rare never implemented it throughout all the alphas and betas etc.

    Don't have it remove nameplates but please for the love of all things holy let us crouch at least to hide behind barrels, rocks, etc., while we are in fire fights.

    @moe-furbino seriously such answers? Can not you write anything without insulting anyone? I am not a pioneer, yet I deny the idea of adding a crouch mechanic. You will make an additional option No! Because the beta people want it that way?

    Yes please. 1998's Half-Life just called and said it already had it back then. Prone would be overkill for SoT but crouching seems mendatory in any game at the first person with a bit of self respect.

    And i'd like to be able to sit on the captain's chair please. Not just using the sit emote but be properly sitted. For RP reasons.
