This is the most toxic game I've ever played

  • Rare, you say you wanted to make a game where you can meet players, make friends, and create stories with others. That didn't quite happen, instead you created the most toxic game of this decade.

All match made games are either played alone, or is spent in the brig. It's evident that this will continue into launch, since there's been no attempts to fix this problem. This problem will remain in the full game and launch, players who don't have a group will have to play solo or spend all their time in the brig.

This game is going to die just a few weeks after release, and there's nobody other than rare to blame for that, it's almost like they want their game to be dead on arrival.

edit: Apparently there's up/down-vote on the forums... This studio is the most toxic thing I've ever seen. There's a reason why up/down-votes never lasted on forums, it's the most toxic thing there is.

  • Ever heard of Overwatch? You will love that if you think Sea Of Thieves is bad.

I would suggest some meditation and breathing exercises beforenhand though if SoT pushes you over the edge xD

There is no down voting on the forums. It was removed

Overwatch is a bad game, never spent much time in it. In the time I tried to play it I was never vote kicked and barred from playing the game. So no, that game is nowhere near as toxic as Sea of Thieves.

I have not managed to play a match made game yet, I'm always forced to play solo.

Dude, I get that you are mad but what did you do to get sent to the brig. I haven sent people to the brig because they kept lowering the anchor even after me and my crew told him not to 5 times. Another time someone kept screwing up the scales at were correct.

If you need a good crew just let me know. I have a couple recommendations.

Have you even played the game? It's the standard procedure to lock everyone but your other budy or budies in the brig.

  • @palebracelet289 The brig is a problem, i believe solutions are being worked on and it agree it can be frustrating, but branding the game the most toxic of the decade is abit dramatic lol. Sorry dont mean to sound rude but it did crack me up.

Add me as a friend and ill sail with ya, and i promise ill try not to brig ya ;)

  • @knifelife as will I

  • Random crews are always going to be a risk. I think this game will certainly foster teams being created, and friends being sought on XBOX. The place to find these friends to always have someone to play with is in here!

Yes I have. Just played hours of it. Joined a random crew and had a great time. Sunk 6 galleons and sold 20 chests.

Name me a single game more toxic than Sea of Thieves. Where you're not allowed to play in match made games, and instead forced to play solo.

There is none, this is the most toxic game of the decade. People using capslock in chat isn't really much to call toxicity, real toxicity is greifing.

  • @palebracelet289 try SoT again at launch. The scale test is not representative of the final game and was only meant to test their servers so we can enjoy smooth sailing on March 20th.

  • What's concerning me is that RARE aren't exactly veterans of developing pvp / large world multiplayer games and a lot of elements related to those aspects in Sea of Thieves are proving to be problematic. Further to that is very little recognition of these issues so far.

Forums are often merely 'crumple zones' for people to vent their anger against and feel they are being listnened to. I am starting to worry now since there's been little word of improvement to some of the issues in the game and launch is getting very close.

    CSGO

  • @pendragonie The closed beta wasn't scale test, and that had the same problem. It's always been the problem for Sea of Thieves.

I'm not going to waste money on this game, so I'm not going to try it at launch. Their only chance is if they've fixed this issue and launches an open beta before launch.

  • @palebracelet289 Do you have a mic?

  • @palebracelet289 Dota 2, League of legends, Overwatch, Eve Online any Call of duty, Ark survival evolved, Conan Exiles..

Just to name a few, i dont believe i can change your mind but the game does not force you to play solo. In the short time your post has been uo you have already had two people offer to play with you, not bad for a toxic community.

There is also the forum group finder, Xbox Looking for group and multiple fleets and discord groups and official SoT Xbox club where you can find group all filled with amazing helpful people.

The games great just give it a chance, this is the reason Rare has these betas and tests, to try and firgure out what needs work and tweaking :) Have a good night and i hope your next attempt is more enjoyable for you. :)

Add Rust in there. Most toxic game. No joke.

  • @vipersting14 CS GO is not especially toxic comared to SoT. I've only been vote kicked a few times over at least 100hrs of play.

With SoT it's so far been 100%.

Look at Rust. That game is extremely toxic and the community shows it.

  • @knifelife How did you manage to get LoL and OW in there? I've played those two games, and they really aren't that toxic in comparision. AFKers, rage quitters, and greifers aren't especially rare, but it's nowhere near as frequent as in SoT, this game is like 10x as toxic as those games.

The other games I haven't played, so I can't comment.

@vipersting14 That game costs money, so no, I won't.
Are you actually locked out from playing the game in rust?

  • @palebracelet289 if you want good crews join a discord server and stop complaining about having to go alone. That’s your problem no one else’s. If you can’t help yourself then don’t complain.

  • @palebracelet289 The problem isn't the community, to me it seems like your attitude. Your refusing to except the fact that the community isn't that bad just because you came across a few a*****e players. Just try to lighten up.

neither was Blizzard with MMO`s when they released World of Warcraft ...

You aren’t locked out it’s what people do in the game.

  • @vipersting14 That's not a solution. You're suggestion to use 3rd party applications to survive the toxicity of the game... That really is a strong indication of how toxic this game is.

@rideytidey207 I've never met a nice person in the game, and the community on reddit is as rotten as every other reddit community. I've never had a good experience in this game unless I played solo, and most of the time while playing solo there's so many ships (who case/shoot on sight) that it's almost impossible to complete any quests after the very first beginner quest.

  • Somebody call [mod edit] LOL

  • @palebracelet289 I meant Rust is toxic and the people cause it. I have yet to experience any toxicity in SoT so far.

  • Quick Note: The brig problem, where you are locked in right as you join, that problem did NOT happen when the game was in it's alpha stage. Once the open Beta opened, that's when the brig became a problem, and Rare is addressing this by having people have the option to sail with a select amount of crew, so no random people would join in.

As for finding a crew to actually sail with you, I think it's best to join a fleet or group, or make friends on Xbox. during the Beta, I did meet a nice crew and we became friends. But there were times which I had to sit in the brig for joining... I just blasted RIP Headphone Users on.

Basically, Yes, the brig is a problem, but these problematic crews aren't gonna keep you playing solo. You could still find a nice crew, sail with one other person, or sail alone... then again, I did sail alone about 3/4 of my time playing the game.

  • @madscallion Many, many variables. Does not convince me that RARE have got this pinned. They might do, but they might not. For me, if a week after release there are complaints and negative reviews reffering to issues reported many months prior, I would lose a lot of faith in the game and not buy it. It's a tiring old story and I'd rather not fund lazy culture anymore. But I'll wait for release because who really knows what RARE is up to right now.

  • @PaleBracelet289 after 120 hours of gameplay, mostly in galleons, I have been put in the brig a grand total of 0 times. Either way, Rare has said they are working on fixing how the brig will work, such as the ability to create 3 man crew so a group of three won't have to worry about a random (which is already in the game), or the ability to create a private crew, so if three friends are waiting for a fourth or someone's game crashes, a random won't pop in. Also, if you haven't met any nice people, you just won the bad luck lottery. I have met quite a few friendly people, both who have just ignored me or have given me chests (thanks for the Captain's chest whoever that was).

As with any game, there will be toxicity(I'm looking at you Rust), you just seem to be blowing it way out of proportions.

  • @palebracelet289 maybe theres a reason youre getting brigg'd. maybe its you?

  • Yeah I never join randoms via matchmaking. Its just an instant brigging if I do. Mainly play solo, or with friends I know.

And the spawn camping after dieing is annoying, only way out is destroying the ship.

Devs are aware of all these issues, so we'll see how long before it is fixed. Doesn't seem like it will make it for launch which is a shame.

Also doesn't help that most people are in a private party chat or discord and not game chat, so another reason you might get brigged.

As always though, better to use LFG or find some jolly pirates on the forums to group up with, looks like some above are ready and willing.

Can you please just calm down and step away. Remember it’s just a game. It’s your opinion. Don’t like SoT because it’s “toxic” then don’t ruin it for everyone else.

  • After reading this thread fully.... The responses of some in this thread is disappointing. Thought the community was better than this. :(
