How often do you sell your chests to the outpost ?

  • We always went to an Outpost whenever we had 1 Whining Chest (I guess its the Chest of sorrows) so the annoying Water stops, or when we had like 3-6 chests because it only makes it more rewarding to enemies if we would lose a battle.
We also never made a fight if we knew it wont be just a quick 1-3 Cannon shots and then sail away or if we had chests on board.

Also if we get a single Captains Chest, we always sailed immeadiatly to the next outpost to sell it for profit.

  • As often as possible. My crew got disconnected too many times. Once the entire crew DC there is no way of going back to your server. Your ship simply vanishes and you lose everything.

  • @aenima123 Generally I'd hand in when ever near an outpost regardless of how many chests I had. Sometimes I'd hand in after getting 1, because the outpost was inbetween me and the next island. Sometimes I'd get 10-15 before handing in.

  • If solo I do all my quests and all message in a bottle quests unless they were bounties since can't turn em in.

If on a galleon I would like to complete every voyage so 12 since each person can have 3... but most people want to turn in at the end of the voyage... which bores me

this is due to it being a Stress Test, they were forcing the Servers to crash all weekend, so a lot of ppl had this issue. Was part of the beta.

  • When sailing with a crew I try to aim at 10-20, depending on how many crying ones we have.

  • @daphonic
It's still a bigger issue. Sometimes it's just me and my wife in a crew and we obviously play in the same household (same connection etc). If our connection fails even for a second, there's a power spike or literally anything at all that would make us both disconnect from the server, we lose everything as there is no way to log back into the same server. I know that I'm in the minority but other, similar games don't have that problem. A good example is Paladins. If the game realizes that your game has crashed, internet turned went down or whatever and the match is still going, it throws you back into the game.

  • Each time i have one.

Theres no benefit to stacking chests so whats the point?

    Not losing time.
The thrill to be under attack with a big cargo on your ship.

Or the sorrow of all the lost time getting those chests only to lose them to a crew that had none even if you won the fight

That's what makes SoT so spicy ! Maybe you only see the sorrow part (certainly because you lost more than you won) but without it, no glory, no adrenaline.
I lost dozens of chests at once in the sea, did it make me salty ?
Yep, salty as the ocean, but what do you call a dish without salt ? Bland and tasteless.

  • @bradbre-360 310 items?!?!?
I can't help but call bull on that one. Pics or it didn't happen

  • @uber-knight72 @BRADBRE-360

  • We would get two or three quests running at the same time so we'd end up with two or three chests on board. I think our maximum was five, but that was nerve wracking. My crew is not as brave as those who roll around carting dozens of chests.

That's probably because you didn't play a lot yet, but you'll see, sometimes you've got an X map with 5 chests on a very small island. So you can have 10 chests really quickly.

  • Mad because ships flee you? Lol. I don’t care if I only have 1 chest. I’m not letting some b**********s steal it just because they want to battle. Like the developers said, play how you want, so don’t down talk to people just because they avoid you.

  • @aenima123 I mean, I only played in the stress test this last weekend, yeah. But I put in a loooot of hours and we just made the personal choice to run back to outposts like wimps XD

  • @l2l-havok-l2l said in How often do you sell your chests to the outpost ?:

The only time we head to an outpost immediately is if we have the Chest of Sorrows...

    Word.

  • @aenima123 camping outposts does not work, if I see a ship at an outpost a just go to another. And it’s easy to circle the outpost first to see if there’s any mermaids around.

Other's mermaids are quite subtle to see, there is no green flare, and few people have the patience to circle the outpost each time they come to sell, especially if they come frequently because they sell every 2 chests on board...

  • @aenima123 I’m p***y because I don’t give a c**p about ship battles? lol great way of talking to people in forums @Global-Moderators

  • @aenima123 hmmm well I never had I problem spotting mermaids.

  • @big-cheesy Me either. They're usually pretty obvious.

  • I would go to an outpost when I had 3-5 chests or completed a voyage

  • All dependant on the route we were on

310 sure seems to be a lot, some guys spent 7 or 8 hours to gather 100 chests so 310 items ???

  • One of the devs mentioned recently that in testing most players start out rushing to outposts but gradually that changes as players get deeper into the game or have more experience.

  • It depends on what happens. If it is a Galleon chasing a sloop, I love wasting their time. My favorite is for them to think I have treasure and bamboozle them! One time there was a sloop chasing me (I had no treasure) and they had several chests in there then sunken ship. Unfortunately for them we both sunk in the middle of the sea and either I or the sharks got them before they can call their ship again.

It was a fantastic karma story! One of them even said "F@#K you man! F@#K you! F#$K YOU!" to me in the ferry. I just waved, it was fun.

This is actually what I was going by, I know the guy yu are talking about, I think he posted his achievement on this forum actually.. can't remember.

But it can take absolutely HOURS just to get an moderately-sized haul of around 20-50 items, and that's without ANY interuptions like restocking, running into other players, sailing around or through storms, etc.

I just really don't see that as being possible without a truly lifeless amount of time and consistent play, and luck. At least in this version.

  • @hallower1980 said in How often do you sell your chests to the outpost ?:

One of the devs mentioned recently that in testing most players start out rushing to outposts but gradually that changes as players get deeper into the game or have more experience.

That makes sens, the more you play, the more you build enough confidence to sail around for longer periods of time without the fear to loose a few chests.

  • @elitebudge Doesn't mean anything. Unless it was REALLY easy to gather chests during one of the really early alphas as well as them having relics and the like. With player interuptions and other speedbumps always present 310 just seems to be an impossible number without dozens of hours, no distractions, and an unatural amount of will anda hefty dosee of insomnia. Not just himself, but also from the entire crew, unless he got really lucky and kept getting good players every random. Pioneer status wouldnt change that
