Please give us 60fps on Xbox One X

  • It would be very nice if you guys made possible for us to play this game at 60fps on Xbox One X.

Even greater if it was 4K, but it could be dynamic resolution or with lower graphics preset if required, but I still think it would be nice to have at least 2 modes (if it can't run at 60fps at all with the max graphics settings at 4k):

    • favor native 4K
    • favor 60fps

Do you think this is possible ?

  • As mentioned in This Post

You should check out This Video For Xbox One X Information

  • But... I though 30FPS is way more cinematic.... :(

  • @limpleglenny Unfortunately this video only is about 4K resolution but they don't mention framerate. The latter is much more important. I agree with the topic creator that 60 fps should be supported on Xbox One X.

  • @dreampage You raise a good point, I'd definitely like to see them shooting towards 60fps.

  • Yes please. Please add a 1080p 60fps option.

  • when will ppl learn that its ot a out getting 60fps its about steady fps. if your getting 60fps but it dips just slightly its worse than havung steady 30fps. its the drops that make the stutter 30fps is fine. look at bluray movies they are less than 30fps but still smooth because it is constant.

  • @biackbelt 4k/60 FPS/Xbox One X - delete one.

  • @semi-amateurish I think SoT could easily aim for 1440p 60

  • Ok so yeah the Xbox One X is powerful, but think of it like this, it's what, £400?

My PC which is £1,300 can't do 4k@60fps. (TBF it might get it if the game is very well optimised, but would struggle a lot.)

  • It would be amazing if they managed to, but I doubt it. My Pc which is just over £1000 would struggle getting that, id probably only be able to run at 1080p 60fps max settings.

  • please support this game on the X in more ways than just 4K. If we can't get 60fps id still like 1080p, 1440p or 1800p with better graphics presets than just the base xbox game running at 4K.

3rd party games are supporting the X with multiple visual and performance options so you'd expect more from SoT's seeing as its first party. It'll disappoint me for sure if these options dont get included.

  • @captain-surgee that would be even better! Lets hope they will include a performance mode.

  • Turn on smooth motion or motion judder what ever it's called you won't notice a difference between 30 and 60fps

  • @scheefinator said in Please give us 60fps on Xbox One X:

If most 1k PC rigs can't even do it, I very much highly doubt a console can, without some sort of wizardy.

It's not a simple price comparison between a $499 Xbox and a $1000+ gaming PC that determines performance. Sure, it's easy to look at that price point and that tiny box and think immediately it can't do as much as a larger, more expensive PC, yet the Xbox is mass produced and parts are acquired in bulk and optimization makes hardware smaller with each iteration. More than likely the true price of an Xbox One X for an individual to build is a lot more than $499. I wouldn't even judge performance between PC builds strictly on appearance or price.

Let's not forget optimization for one type of video card rather than countless options on pc.... its quite amazing what consoles have accomplished over the years compared to pc. I am a pc gamer with a $3000 computer and a couple of 1080ti's game runs just as good if not smoother on my 60" 4k tv on an Xbox x. Take that as you will. I am pretty sure my $1000 video cards couldn't handle a 4k 60"

  • I really hope that Rare will offer the option of the 60fps.

At 1080p with Lower details I think that the Xbox One X is enought powerful to do this.

Only 4K/30fps is not enought for the most powerful console. Gears 4 , Witcher 3 and recently Fortnite ( and more like Tomb Raider etc ) are the way to follow for the devs.

60fps is trully THE game changer, more than higher resolution.

  • @personalc0ffee said in Please give us 60fps on Xbox One X:

You can not have 4k 60fps on a console at this current time. That is too much power for those little machines.

You can only manage that on the beefiest of PC's like think over 1k USD or higher.

4K native rendering takes massive amounts of hardware power.

More like $5000 USD or higher you would need 2 or 3 gtx 1080ti for 4k 60 fps with out frame drops also gpu price are horrible right now

  • @splatulated Yeah as someone with a 3000 dollar pc along with the "Beefiest 1080ti you can buy called. MSI Lightning Z has 3 power 8 pin connectors and is the coolest card running on the market, Fully OC most games I can't touch at 4k STABLE 60FPS.

That's a big reason why I kind of giggle when PC players down play consoles. My pc doesn't even have built in Wifi or a 4k Bluray player along with a free controller, and it still cost 6x times as much as a Xbox one X. :( Struggles

  • correct me if I'm wrong but as far as i know 30fps is the fastest frame rate the human eye can see. and it definitely will be native 4k on the xbox one x, with HDR

  • @dj-deadscope sagte in Please give us 60fps on Xbox One X:

ROFLMAO at the PC elites who can't handle the fact that One X does indeed do native 4K at 60fps and beautifully at that.

Yes in some games that are graphics wise not really impressive and still not on par, by a long shot, on PC graphics. We can handle it, it's you people not getting the facts straight lulz xD

  • @renoxius

If you cant see the difference , Im sorry for you lol

If the render at screen is over 30fps , your eyes can see it and it will be more fluid/smooth. Also , the gameplay will be more reactive cuz the input will respond 2times faster than a 30fps (60 = 30 x 2 lol )

Just check this video of Sea of Thieves at 60fps and feel the freshness ^^ ( set youtube to 60fps )

Shame if they cant handle a 60fps at 1080p mode on Xbox One X.
Lastely , CD Project with Witcher 3 did an excellent work on Xbox One X bringing this option !

  • @renoxius That's actually not true. it's coming from the history and technical limitations where movies were shot in 24 FPS.

  • mwahahahaaa....hahaa...60 fps on 4k with an xbox worth what 200 buks?

...official answer: "we are working on it". caugh caugh.

And yes...30 fps is enough for a good experience...unless you make a game that supports the PC with 60 fps and throw all players in the same shared world.

@Psycho-Slash you sir should stop comparing Witcher, that came out in 2015 (was it?) and was made on what engine? Maybe the self made "REDengine"? What engine is SoT? Maybe Unreal? Hmmm...why do I even bother explaining?!?

  • Whether or not the Xbox One X can or cant do Sea of Thieves at 4K 60fps is a decision that's been made by Rare to optimise the experience. So lets assume the X1X in this case is doing its best at 4K 30fps.
Why not give Xbox One X owners the option of (by way of example)

    • 2160p at 30fps (Current option)
    • 1440 at 60 fps
    • 1080p at 120 fps

Let users decide what they value more, textures or frame rate. Again these are examples only, but its quite common as was seen with Original Xbox One to see games struggle at 1080p/60fps, so things like 900p and 60fps became the norm, coupled with some upscaling.

  • I doubt they will expose any of those graphics options in the console version, but I could be wrong.

  • @personalc0ffee As a PC I have the highest grade hardware you can buy, so yes and no. Saying you can run any game at 4k 60fps is right however false info. You 100% right if I lower my quality setting down to low you can run any game at 4k 60fps. However if your goal is to make the game look like c**p while running 4k that's pretty pointless. Sea of thieves on a i7-8700k z370 32gb of ddr4 MSI Lightning Z 1080ti. Point to me if you know any better hardware I can use cause bottlenecking from CPU/PSU is 100% not problem. I can numerous games that don't run at 4k 60fps the link I'm posting will show a few, those are also older games not even the new stuff coming out in the coming months. I ran Sea of Thieves at 4k a 30-50 fps with settings maxed. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/nvidia-gtx-1080-ti-benchmarks,review-4241.html That's a good read for you also. But you are right a 1080ti can handle 4k 60fps but at what cost of degrading everything else.

Just wanna state when I say highest grade, I mean consumer hardware with extreme OC.
This is the 1080ti I have can't buying anything better for OC. https://msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-LIGHTNING-Z.html Just heads up not a big fan of how people put PC gaming above and beyond, and even with the best hardware games struggle with 4k 60fps with high end settings in-game

  • @boost-king

Xbox One X dont have enought power to run this open world game at 1080 60fps .... if it was the case , they offer the option.
High framerate depend of the CPU power wich is only 2.3 Ghz ...

Game will be just 4K30fps ( I hope witout tearing and framedrops ) .... and nothing more ...

I hope to mistake but unfortunately I think im correct ...

  • @ant-heuser-kush Xbox one X is not even on par with a 1060, so to say it's on par with with a 1080 is just silly. I don't care what paper says, I own both and it's not even close. For instance, we won't even get a full 1080@60fps at medium settings with this game, which isn't the most hardware intensive game. Now my PC can run this on a mix of legendary and mythical settings at a smooth 60fps lock. That's obviously why they stick with 30 with the X. Do you they think they want to run it @30fps? Absolutely not. They could maybe run this game on Xbox one x at 1080p@60fps lock with medium settings. Maybe.

It's not about resolution, it's more about better fps/lighting/shadows, textures, filtering, etc.. stuff PC gamers have experienced for over a decade.

The Xbox one x games running native 4k are not at ultra or even high settings, not completely. They may put a couple settings up, but they are taking a hit on settings for resolution.. Which is dumb in my opinion. They should focused on ultra/high settings at 1080@60fps as console players have yet to see that.. Hell OG/S Xboxes get odd rez like 800-900p@30fps with low/med graphical settings..

You can play the original counterstrike at 8k@120fps, sure it may be crisp, but it's definitively not going to look any better. Now play CS:Source at 1080@60fps maxed out side by side. Something like Destiny 2 is night and day on the Pc compared to the X.

30fps bothers me so much it can lead to eye discomfort after about 30mins. It's saddening to go back to 30fps to play with my console peeps. Some of my console friends that only know 30fps feel that 60fps is "sped up", which to them it is, twice the frames.

I own an OG Xbox, an Xbox one X and a years old PC (i7 4770k / PNY XLR8 1060 6gb / 16gb 1866) and I bet I can run any game better on the unoptimized pc ports they pull now better @1080/60fps than an Xbox one X. I know this because I've played most of the current gen games on both.

*I do agree that they should make a 1080@60fps available, water movement/turning radius, animations at 60fps look much more realistic, medium settings or not.

  • @biackbelt well since you can't upgrade the xbox then you have to chose between 60fps and max graphics. Some people prefer a more cinematic game some people prefer a game that they can actually play. But if you want good graphics with good frame rate you should consider playing on pc :)

  • The scale tests ran fine for me on Xbox one X at 1080p. The final beta which ran at 4k suffered from drops below 30 and occasional screen tearing. I would really like an option to play at a steady 1080 / 30.
Luckily I also have a PC (gtx970 and older AMD 1055t @3.7ghz) I'm hoping I can squeeze 60fps out of that if I drop the detail down.
4k is nice on the Xbox one X but I don't think it's nice enough to sacrifice framerate to achieve it.
Before the X was launched MS stated all Xbox exclusives would be native 4k. I expect it is MS that are mandating 4k not Rare deciding on 30fps.

  • No matter the graphics settings, a 60 fps option should be available. This is not a realistic-looking game, the cartoonish style could very well be enjoyable on lower resolutions and with simpler textures if the result would be 60 fps and more responsive gameplay. People (and developers) often forget that higher framerate is not only better for the eyes but it actually makes the game better to play, due to lower latency.

Digital Foundry also stated that at 30 fps the game can induce headache due to the moving ships and constantly undulating waters. It is disappointing that an exclusive game, so long in development, doesn't support high framerates on the more advanced console. Gears of War 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Halo 5, they all do.

I'll have to review the game after it's released and I review games on Xbox One X - I can't, however, recommend a game that is simply not as enjoyable on the "most powerful console" as it is on PC. It shows Microsoft's and Rare's lack of dedication towards console players.

  • @personalc0ffee
Not sure where to start with this as you are right 4k 60fps is possible but since you listed very little info besides 1080ti can do 4k 60fps. You never listed it would be a stable 60fps. You never listed what settings it can run just that it can run 4k 60fps. You also are right you never listed what games. So I took as a broad spectrum that your official comment was 1080ti can run games in 4k60fps which is 100% true. However this is a False Postive as you never stated all the variables that come into play, It's not as simple as the amount of Pixels and or FPS. I'm just making sure you aren't spreading info that a 1080ti can run things 4k 60fps, when most gamers hear stuff like that they think max settings.

I'll let you do your own research if you think cooling could be my problem.
    https://msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-LIGHTNING-Z.html
It's really cool read and a amazing card.
Just in case you don't wanna click the link.
    "TRI-FROZR Thermal Design
Using three of the award-winning TORX 2.0 Fans with Double Ball Bearings, the new LIGHTNING is once again the pinnacle of air cooling.
    Close Quarters Heat Pipe Cooling
Pipe down with heat pipes infused into the Close Quarters Heatsink and Backplate for greatly improved thermal performance.
    Legendary OC Potential
MSI LIGHTNING cards are designed from the ground up for extreme overclocking and extreme performance." The card I own is a titan it requires 3 4 pin connectors from the PSU a long with taking up 3 pci slots and weighing 10+ pounds.

As for CPU cooling. My CPU temp idle is 20c just to give you idea, I don't think I have ever seen it peak in the 70c.
    https://www.nzxt.com/products/kraken-x62
However as I stated things are not as always cut and try as specs pc temp can depend on case airflow also along with how cold it is in your area.

My point is it's not as cut and dry as 4k60fps which why I agree with your statement 100% 4k60fps on Sea of Thieves is 100% possible but so is pretty much everything as long as you lower the settings. However I just people to be aware that it's not possible to have STABLE 4k60fps experience on Sea of Thieves with Max settings even with a Extreme OC 1080ti. May not be possible, just cause you have a 1080ti.

Also on the console user side I don't really care if they can run 4k60fps you shouldn't either, your to focused on something you have no care for worry about that pc man. But yeah 4k60fps on Sea of Thieves may not be possible due more to the cpu side of things.

  • @personalc0ffee You good man you are 100% right though about your statement. Sometimes my statements come off a little like yours where they very broad, I like a good conversation about things like this. Honestly I'm pretty jelly my next purchase is a high hz rate monitor. I'm still stuck in 60fps days are they actually worth it man I can't comment and you say your doing 90fps does it feel better? Also yeah I know you didn't say they were my problem my replies are kind of broad so if anyone has any questions. I just don't wanna see people getting into PC gaming being like "I bought a 1080ti can I do 4k60fps" That's a big yes and no. Honestly a 1080 is fine man for what you are doing this day and age with crypto miners. My 880 card is no 1400 dollars.

  • @personalc0ffee Thanks man 100% my next buy.
