Take away from this and you lose a great deal of the hype the average gamer has for your upcoming game. All the viewers clamoring for your game on Twitch, those days seeing Sea of Thieves anywhere between #1-5 most viewed game, having top streamers advertise your game for 8-10 hours a day and with praise and anticipation of what's to come... all of that goes away if you decide to take away from the PvP aspects of this game. Give LIRIK, Summit1g, CDNThe3rd or any big streamer a chance to complain about diluted PvP in Sea of Thieves and it's all downhill from there.
It's difficult to prove without polling at the source, but I can say with certainty that most people are viewing this game for the epic PvP encounters that are possible in all areas of the map. Voyages, while fun, are almost considered "downtime" in most streams. This is not to say PvE should be ignored... quite the contrary. It's just that the idea of limiting PvP for the sake of making some players comfortable completing voyages with less risk is counterproductive.
Please, Rare, don't give in to the demands of people wanting to constrain PvP to certain areas of the map. Hell... some people are even asking to eliminate it completely (aka "PvE servers"). If anything, most people are looking forward to what else is in store for PvP... not less of it. You're in a tough spot where taking a stand one way or another can cause an uproar, but I think you will catch much less flack by supporting and expanding open-world PvP in your game than otherwise.
