Chest of sorrow bug?!?

  • Hi there,

First of all I like the Chest of Sorrow.
Though there is one deal breaker for me.
If I put the chest on the very front of the nose of the ship I would expect the chest to cry directly into the sea. But this idea is not working. Actually the ship will be filled with water instead.
But how should all the tears really run into the ship if the tears are directly fallen into the ocean. It would be cool if the devs could have a look at this. If they have capacity.

I know on the other hand that it is quite funny that the chest will stay in that place and not fall over. Though we are riding the craziest ocean. But that is another thing. ;)

    PS:
If you wanna stick to your idea that this chest is always sinking your ship when it is crying long enough maybe just add big rainy clouds above it to flood your ship. :D

  • Its not a bug. If the chest is anywhere on your ship, even being held by someone, it will fill it with water regardless.

  • @mister-glayd I’ve heard you can avoid this is someone holds the chest on the side ladder while sailing

  • @the-lion-turtle I know it is. But in programming you could easily insert an exception rule for this. Like I said. When you put the chest on the very front of the nose of the ship the tears would fall directly to the sea.
And there is no connection on how the water of the tears could run into the lower decks.
So that might be frustrating for people you would assume normal action-reaction-scenarios.
So I don't wanna fight about if this is a bug or not. But that the experience people will have with this chest is not 100% good.

  • @dark-shadow9056 Thanks. Good to know.

  • @mister-glayd True but it should remain the way it is. Just chock it up to magic since the chest is clearly magic. Hence why it shouldn't matter where you put it, it should always effect your ship.

  • @mister-glayd Cursed chests work in mysterious ways. If it is anywhere on your ship it will flood it. As someone else pointed out, if someone is holding the chest on a ladder, you can prevent that from happening, but then you are down 1 crew member.

  • Just placed the Chest of Sorrow on the front of the small ship. when it started to "cry" the boat got filled up instant!. i went down to get some bananas from the barrel. and when i got up to the wheel the boat sank.

  • I remember someone saying that a way to stop the chest from crying is to play music for it. The person posting this did not know for certain if it worked but noticed that at the moment he played music, the crying stopped.

  • Not sure if the bug is still there but when we put ours on the plank it quit crying until we picked it up again. Should be a feature in the game really. Make the chest walk the plank to keep it quiet.

  • @mister-glayd said in Chest of sorrow bug?!?:

That's kind of the point. If you want it, you have to deal with it. Does no one appreciate risk vs reward?

This is the real bug here.

  • @univalvewolf976 nah, it’s been patched last i heard :)

  • Good point

  • @mattydove74 Don't get me wrong. I totally like the risk vs. reward stuff.
Finding out how or what to do to claim this chest is part of the fun.

And I am totally good with the chest flooding the ship also if it is in front of the nose and directly above the ocean or somebody holding it at the ladder.
Though a rainy cloud above the ship would totally bring a better connection on why the ship gets flooded.
It is somehow related to the devs believe about "not realistic but believable" experience. ;)

  • gotta have a crewman hold it on a ladder, like the Main Sail ladder to the crows nest. BUT, do NOT drop them off side of boat, found out that if you drop it over the side...something bad MAY happen....that's all Ill say about that lol

  • you cant stop it from crying u need to hold It on the ladder till it stops crying , while the other members ship to the outpost and taking out water from the bottom of the ship

  • I can confirm that if you pick up the chest and hang on to the ladder on the side of the ship. It does not fill up with water.
